No the head is lost... when one gate shuts down the other gate shuts down....
No time to transmit anything...

Remember that ep when.. was it Tilk?.. who got stuck in the gate... after the sending gate was destroyed??

Ah, yes. The character was trapped in the pattern buffer () and they had to force the gate to generate an exit hole without an entry one.

What I liked the most was when Carter said the SGC computer had to bypass aronud 400 safety procedures just to generate a hole. Suddenly, every gate failure in the show made sense :)

Yeah, the splash always kills organic beings (remember that first season episode when SG1 ended in a prison cavern and those guys were throwing themselves into the vortex to "leave"?). I suppose it's some kind of residual energy that can't cut through hard materials, and that's why burying the gate works.

No, all objects. Not just organic.
They used the vortex to separate the link between Jackson and Vala with the Ancient intergalactic communicator.
In the prison the shoes didn't disintegrate because they never got caught by the vortex.

By the way, here is the new SGU trailer from the San Diego Comic Con.
Link
Calvin grows up to be Frazz. The logical continuation of this is, of course, that Frazz then grows up to be Edward Norton's character from Fight Club. And thus, all four of these characters are gods.Let's go one more step. Calvin grows up to be Jeremy, who grows up to be Frazz, who grows up to be "Tyler Durden," while Suzie grows up to be Haruhi Suzumiya; since Kyon becomes The Doctor, this leads to the inescapable conclusion that after the end of Fight Club, Calvin becomes Captain Jack.

Hmm. Looking at that, it seems that the chevron looking things might not be the actual chevrons. When they show the new gate spinning up, theres another light that goes on.

Looks like the spinning lights are just Christmas decorations. :P

Yeah, those were Death Gliders. Perhaps there's a rebel sect thats got some tech and are using it against the humans? And what about that planet right at the end? I'm assuming its the Icarus base planet but could a self destructing Stargate do that much damage e.g. doing a "Vulcan": Where the whole damn planet explodes.

hmmm... according to the vid the actual chevron for the ship seems to be that circle above the door behind the gate....
It could be a normal gate with normal chevrons on any other planet but this ship must override it somehow.

thinking about it though the camera would have to be at an odd angle... maybe there is another one higher up on that wall....

EDIT: actually you can just see the dark outline of that circle/chevron above the larger one in the pic.
EDIT: indeed it is on the wall also all the other chevrons even the one on the floor light up.
EDIT: edited image.

going back to this img again:
Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

It could be that planet destroying weapon that McKay said Area 51 was working on.

http://www.gateworld.net/news/2009/07/comic-con-booth-shows-off-destiny-new-stargate-universe-footage/

this news post basically explains it, plus other footage shown at comic-con.

yes, the Ball at the top of the gate acts like the 7th chevron does on the other gates. It also serves as a MALP I believe.

I just watched the trailer again, it is pretty awesome. I love the Star wars reference. Apparently Dr. Rush is fan of Star Wars (I'm guess it was him that said it by the accent, and that Eli was just explaining)

My girlfriend, who hates Star Gate, is at Comicon right now. She's gushing telling me that SGU looks awesome.

I'm not sure if this is a good sign or not.

It means you can watch a TV show together without fighting each other for the controls. :)

Just loving the look of this series. God i got goosebumps i don't think i can wait another two months. So how long till someone takes on doing that ship for bc. Good luck to whoever takes it on the detail will be a nightmare. But i would love to see it in game
Stewie (to Lois): Look at him. He runs like a Welshman. Doesn't he run like a Welshman? Doesn't he? I think he runs like a Welshman. ...
