I agree with neb.  Your textures are distinct from the SNS ones, in that they're more crisp and defined, they look very good.  But the color scheme is very SNS, rather than what appears on TV.  Remember that Scotchy took the colors from the 6ft model after it was repainted and touched up for ST:Generations, so those aren't the colors from the show.  Overall though, I've gotta say you're doing a helluva job with these textures.

I think you're right DJ, the texture maps are a lot darker than the pics, It maybe because I'm taking screen pics from the Model Property Editor. It always makes ship look a lot brighter to me, the only way I'll know for sure is when I take a look at the ship ingame. As for the colour scheme I sourced the colours from the physical model seen below, which is incidentally is post ST Generations, I may alter the colourscheme once I've got all the textures done. Thanks for the input though!! :)

Anyways, I've finished the dorsal escape pods. When modding the CE Galaxy I really struggled with finding the correct colour for the escape pods, I think I got it first time with the Nebula lol.

Looks sweet.
Though, comparing the escape pod hatches on the studio model to your texture, it seems like you've beveled them too much, they seem practically flush with the hull on the physical model. They also appear more rounded.

I can't get over how good these textures look, simply amazing.

However, there is one thing I'd like to point out before you get to texturing the nacelles.  You mentioned on the first page that you replaced the P81 nacelles, if you replaced them with Galaxy class nacelles then they aren't quite cannon to the studio model.

The red outlined area on the following picture above the nacelle is much longer on the nebula class than it is on the galaxy.  I know this is a small nit to pick, but I thought I would point it out before you started the texturing on the nacelles.

But as always this ship is going to look awesome either way.

Isn't that slope because the pylons are smaller?

Thanks for the input Shion, as the Pylon Support is larger on the Nebula Class. I made this modification when I made the initial adjustments to the model. Cheers for the heads up though... and keep 'em coming!!  8)

Another quick update.

I've finished the textures to the dorsal saucer, all that remains is the registries. I've also finished the escape pods for the ventral saucer and are now moving on to the windows.

Needless to say, it's looking damn sweet!

But comparing your escape pods to the studio model, they are very different! The studio model's pods are essentially just decals, with rounded edges and internal detailing... they show none of the beveling you've given them, and are of a different, paler hue.

Update

I've completed the first round of textures on the engineering hull, I still have to rework how the textures are mapped to the model but for a first pass I think they are looking good.

Next onto the Main Deflector!!

Continues to improve, but I must reiterate the point about the pods. Santa is there to attract your attention.

I really appreciate your input Bren but the Escape pods are staying as they are for the time being though I may change them once I see the ship ingame lol.  :?

Thanx!!  :D 8) :D

The deflector housing and the dish have now been textured, I'm really pleased with the results. I've also done two separate textures for the deflector, one similar to the original Nebula Dish and one similar to the Galaxy Class. These will be available as extras in the final download. The original square deflector will follow at a later.

Hope you all like!!
