Wait until you all see how it damages - I built it so that all of the armor plating is connected to the main hull, so internal damaging can be enabled and look really good on a high-end computer.  The C2 and DarkDrone Tactical Cubes don't have their armor connected I believe.

Also if you're planning on using the LC Intrepid in this modification I have made a new hardpoint for the ship that uses only one phaser ellipse/array per phaser strip (this was pretty hard to do and I had to use a damn graphing calculator for it) on the ship if you're interested.

If its one thing that are a pain in the proverbial backside its borg textures. I wasnt happy with the current borg textures i done so i revamped them slighty. The feedback I've got so far say its an improvement, but i want opinions from you guys. The first pic is the old textures, the next 2 are the revamped textures.

Thanks

They both look good. I noticed the green lighting was toned down a bit in the newer version.  Like I said, I think both versions are great.

Stick with the new ones - they're much better - busier and denser machine textures look better.  I want to see those denser textures on the Tactical Cube! 8)

i agree CR,
Im the one who suggested it to jb,
Im actually thinking about laying down a plane in Max and just going crazy with greebles, adding some lighting and rendering textures from that for the cube and tactical.
it will be time consuming but the final result will be nothing less than amazing

The one sticking area for me with borg textures are that the green lighting is never realistic - the centre of the light should be a lighter green due to the radiosity of the light, with the darker green towards the edge of the glow.. That would demonstrate that the light has a "core" to it, and would improve the realism IMO:

Ive used colour dodge on one of your shots above to try to demonstrate what I mean... Its not 100% there but hopefully it gets the point across.

I like the old ones better, but the old ones could be a little brighter is all - you should be able to see the glows on the dark sides of the ship, and I don't think you can on the above screenshots.

Ok guys,
As i said before i have a few ideas about Cubes, and i got a chance today to put those ideas into motion.
What i have done is given the Cube two "layers".
I have created a simple cube and then removed sections of it and with what was left i did some random beveling of the left over sections, (when i say random beveling i meant in height"),
The second cube is just a simple cube about 15% smaller than the larger outer one.
For textures i used a screencap of a cube from voyager and then edited it as needed and applied it to the outer layer.
For the inner layer i made my own little simple Borg texture which brings life to the mesh i think, The inner mesh has the Green glows/Alpha which makes it alot more realistic than the usual 1 model with a few textures applied,

I have tested her out in game and i must say the effect really makes it seem like a cube straight out of the show,
Here is a render of it and ill post some in game eye candy a little later on, i still have a few ideas i want to try out  :D,
I dunno if we will use my version or JB's version, I guess its up to him or which one you guys like better.
Anyway, Enjoy!
