I woulda thought the saucer "gap" in the front, would've been filled in on the refit, seeing as you got a new deflector dish on the added "stardrive" section.

The model looks great in any case :P

The original NX-class Enterprise design was a spectacular success by most measures.  Henry Archer's revolutionary warp 5 engine proved its value as an enabler for deep space operations across a multisector range.  Still, postmission analysis after the costly Xindi conflict of 2153 revealed the engine's original matter/antimatter reactor core to be underpowered in combat situations.  Starfleet quickly determined that retrofitting the core would be necessary, given the ship's ongoing role in Earth's exploration of deep space and its value in planetary defense.  This proved problematic in that installing a larger core in the ship's primary hull would have entailed rebuilding most of the saucer section.  Fortunately, Starfleet engineers devised a radical solution:  Adding an outboard module specifically designed to house an uprated reactor core and related engineering systems.  This engineering module would be designed to occupy the secondary lobe of the ship's subspace field during warp flight.  In this way, the existing warp nacelles could be fed by a greatly uprated reactor, while avoiding a time-consuming reconstruction of the primary hull.  Additionally, the ship's original main deflector had been found to be inadequate during warp travel through regions of dense interstellar particulates, so a second, larger dish was incorporated into the design.  Installation of the new engineering hull was surprisingly straightforward, and the NX-class Enterprise was returned to service after only 180 days in spacedock, resuming its historic mission to boldly go where no man had gone before.

Nothing about the primary hull was altered in any way to save time, hence it has a backup core and deflector.

Like it very much. Question: does that mean, there is no more shuttlebay?

I think they are now those two doors next to the aft airlock. those were also doors on the original NX-01 design, just never seen on screen what they are, but they do lead to where the shuttle bays would be....
You may know me as Batoy853 elsewhere...

The neck actually only covers two of the four shuttlebay doors.  The aft saucer doors are for engineering maintenance.

It looks like the Refit-NX uses the Columbia's larger, rectangular deflector. Plus, we get to see what these ships look like under ambient lighting.

Take a look at Pierre Drolet's website: http://sci-fi-museum-pierre-drolet-com.webs.com/starship

The saucer deflector hasn't been seen yet in an "official" render unless Drolet's there is the Ships of the Line model.  I have no earthly clue in that respect.  Drexler's blueprints show the original 01 deflector.  Most fan renders (and the model kit) use the original deflector.

Canonically it does make sense that if Columbia was the "production model" Starfleet would upgrade Enterprise's saucer dish.
Thanks for letting me know the forum was back up, guys.  I thought everyone died.

Note as well not that you would have missed it but Doug told me the name changed to S.S. Enterprise.

She looks cool. Great work.

sucks that Doug Drexler took down his blog. It was a great resource, I wanted to go and look at his Refit renders again but its gone

I see   and raise

Edit: Now that I'm home and can see it on a big screen, the depth on those hull lines looks great.
