I guess that could work. I dunno though, because the sheer epic size of the pannels and just how high they're actually extruded seems a bit much for a bump map to be very effective at emulating... Just a thought, anyways. Though with the overall shape of the Luna being pretty blocky, I'd say it would actually be pretty hard to exceed the 13 or 14k mark. Juuuuuuust my two cents. :3

Edit: Also, cookie for starting this beast.

I feel like a dumbass LOL I read that as "NOT to exceed the 13/14k mark"

EDIT because I didn't read this correctly LOL

Bumping because I just wanted to say I've started on the bottom of the saucer...however.  I do plan on at least finishing up the top saucer and add the catamarans soon.  The way I'm doing this is probably not the best way of going about it, but it's effective.  I guess this is what "learning experience" means LOL.

Honestly, I myself, have no further comments. Let's see how you progress and maybe we can throw some tips at ya. Otherwise you've got a pretty good start. :]

For my current skill level, I tend to now build ships in halves and using the symmetry modifier to make them complete. Are you building it in half?

Hey Guys been a while!  I'm taking a temporary break from the Luna (I'm having trouble modeling the bottom saucer) and started working on a little something last night...

Took me 3 tries but I think it might be a bit high poly, plan on working on it a bit bringing the count down significantly.

I'll give you guys 3 guesses!

LOL Yeah, well I wanted to take a break from modeling the Luna to learn more on modeling with shapes and modifiers.  And now that I've been thinking about it I know how I'm gonna lower the polycount tenfold LOL :D

So apparently using the cutting tool with the snap-to-vertice kills my Max so I'm going to have to cut this damned thing the old fashioned way *Sighs* work harder not smarter.....

Moar TARDIS!  I've modeled on at least one of the call box signs that is the Front of the TARDIS :).  I'll model the rest of them on later.

So far this has been a great learning experience.  once I'm done with the call box signs I'll move on to the stacks and the pyramid, then I'll go to the top light!

EDIT:  Photo attached...oops

Bump because of edit in last post.

And I've started work on the Police Box sign on the left and right sides, although I think I'm just going to do only the left side then delete the right side and symmatry tool it!

Edit:  YAY STACKS!  Got the light fixture to finish a couple of handles and then BOOM texture time!

EDIT:  This is the first time I've edited a post and it's bumped it up...that's kinda weird!

EDIT3:  MOAR TARDIS!!!
