USS Aeries - NCC - 82108
« on: January 28, 2009, 04:15:38 PM »
I've posted about this ship briefly in the KM:R thread, but I thought i'd start a new one, to keep you all easily updated on its progress. Suffice to say, I have two new renders for you. Please, tell me what you think!

P.S. I have actually made some subtle editions since this point, but they're mainly smoothing issues being corrected.

I like the area around the bridge as well as the engines.  It kind of looks like an opened up defiant with the shape of the engines.  The engines also have some bulk to them as if they can take a poundin' instead of snapping off.

The only thing I'd change is the deflector.  Think it should look more DJ Century like.

Other than that, love it.  Cookie!

I'll come up with a new design first, then you can all choose which one you prefer.
Also, should anybody ask, the Polycount Currently stands at 9,548.

Some Orthographic Renders, with an extra Perspective thrown in :P:

the nacelles should be longer, looks really stubby otherwise.

To be honest, I think the saucer section and deflector on the version in your sig look better then this latest version.

Just my opinion though.
Can't wait for 2014 to start.

what you see in his signature isnt an akira-style deflector, its a logo imposed with the ships name

Actually, that's incorrect, he originally had an akira style deflector. Link to CXP Dev Thread

If CJ don't mind my input, I think the area around the bridge should have something to do, like the blind effect area, open up and have an advanced deflector or something with use of MVAM.

My 2 cents worth, extend the secondary hull a bit it looks wierd from the side view where it meets the saucer.  maybe stretch it forward about 25-30%

Looking good, although the buzzards are completely overshadowed by the saucer, it's a very original design.

Also, make the nacelles curve backwards, it just doesn't fit the rest of the ship aesthetically as it is now.

I was just given an idea, when you goto warp/transwarp/slipstream, when the engines extend that place unfolds like blinds and it's an advanced navigational array to navigate through slipstream etc.

i could be wrong, but i believe you have broken a trek rule. the bussards are obscured by the saucer section, i think thats a no-no

Numerous ships break trek rules, even some onscreen ships. Really it's upto the designer whether they keep with it or not but it's still a neat ship.
