Yeah, I'm in agreement with Kirk. And it looks like there should be a slight black rim outside the edge.

The black edge is already there.

Then the black rim on the left and right needs to be thicker.

hmm. i never noticed that red glow on the engine on the side.  here's a more full picture of it.  Anyone know what that is?

edit... in the second pic from slightly earlier in the film it appears yellow.

My guess is just lighting. When it comes to models its very hard to keep the lighting exactly the same.

or the shot with the redder impulse engine is just sulu with his foot down? :D

Mabye it's redder when under heavy load (like a car engine having the sh*t revved out of it) and more yellowish when it's just idling or under less load?

Actually, I think the bright yellowish orange is full impulse.  My reasoning for that is that close up shot of the impulse drive in TMP is just after Kirk orders impulse power.

Thanks for all your input fellas greatly appreciated, Like DJ said with that red glow on the side of the necelles, is this always red? Also I think i will make the impulse a more orange as requested and post a pic shortly under more normal lighting conditions. also I cannot find a pic where the sensor dome on the underside of the saucer is glowing or illuminated? So I am assuming it does not glow or anything.??  :?

The sensor dome is not iluminsted. There are a couply of little lights in the black recessed areas but that is it.

I did add a glow map toit on mine but on review it is now a glow source.

As for the nacelle on the TMP Enterprise (and all future uses of the model) the only part on the nacelle that glowed was the inboard re-grill. And that only glowed blue under warp. The rest of the grills remained black / dark grey.

As for the impulse engine take a look at my refit as I used a screen cap for the texture of the engine glow.

Thanks mate, I have made the impulse engines more orangey, but to be honest, every image I find of them is different, so I will sit in the middle for now and mess with that later, I have finished the detail on either side of the shuttle bay, and used a little artistic licence with its layout, but I think it looks ok.

Going to work on the shuttle bay doors next..   question, where does the light eminate from to illuminate, the scribe of "enterprise" under the shuttle bay?

Not sure there is a reg light on the fantail Enterprise. I added one as artistic licence. If there is one it is an extra light shined on the model,

Think your right mate... looked at lots of ref's and it seems to be an added light that eminates from no where   Looks good for TV  8)

Thanks for ur input i will leave it unluminated.

These are basic illums, I want to glow them and shade them to other surfaces to show glow effects etc, so lots more to come from these eventually.

Thanks mate,

Just so you all know, I am not 100% with converting ships to BC so Dalek has taken this on board to HP accurately and convert to bc usage, he is also finishing off the Atraiu after Wiley's input.

This could be the start of a beautifull team.
