Just saw this on Drex files: -

Quote
Sunday June 27th is shaping up nicely, with newly discovered background on the ever popular Enterprise J, and a full reveal of the NX-01.5! Also standby for a few snazzy Galactica VFX posters we made at work to amuse ourselves, so be there! Aloha!

I will adjust the textures to suit, bussards included.

Just looking for some feedback on a potential project. As Jimmy has pointed out there are few TNG era ship in the making of late.

So I'm throwing this one in the ring. This is my cocept for a TNG Obeth, though styled on the galaxy it is far smaller around TMP connie size and primary function will be scout/science ship.

Well, you still got the JJ Refit 2.0 to do.  ;)

someone's beat you to a TNG Oberth allready, but it's in severe need of a new take.

oberth update?  :yay: :dance love the oberth... you do a nice job now  :nono:

i'd say oberth update should keep the underslung hull (what IS that anyway?) and with out a standard deflector... put the defletor on onthe saucer.

make the saucer and aft section more curved but keep the circle of the saucer.

not sure how accurate this is but i found this which might help

so it looks like the underdslung pod is for sensor systems and transporters and fuel-suply

Thanks hobbs but not sure how closely I'll be following the original.

Anyway thanks for the feed back I will definatly give it a shot.

In the mean time whilst I await the publishing of the finished NX colour scheme I have brushed off this old project.

Not planning to release anytime soon as it has been pointed out we have had a few connies of late.

This one? http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/file/Refited_Oberth_class_ship;88139
yeah, I realigned the entire hardpoint, redid the textures, and got interested in reassigning UV's to nifs because you forgot to texture the impulse engines.  it works just fine, now.  don't RUSH next time (and don't nick P81 textures!)

Edit: i see you took a cue from wiley and modeled in the grid lines.

I like the TNG Oberth, looks like a smaller precussor to the STO Deep Space Science Vessels.

My idea would be to have a stylized deflector on the pod, and a 'standard' one on the saucer (Similar to the secondary deflectors on the Nova and Intrepid classes, but to a slightly older style)

EDIT: Hm, unless the warp core in yours is to be in the underslung hull, I'd have the nacelle pylons on the dorsal hull, how about connecting to both like the original?

if you watch the video in the next entry down, there's a little sneak peak of the NX-01.5

ah yes that video, bit to small to be of help I'm afraid.

I have been playing again with the refit and here is the saucer without and with specs on.

Chuck a few flecks of prismatic colour into the specs, they used prismatic paint on the model for TMP, so during the flybys, you can see the ship cintillate slighty with different colour patterns. Just a thought. Make sure it's suBtle with a lower-case B.

Here is  the start of the TNG era Oberth.

It will be a scout / pathfinder vessal. The intention is to have the top (saucer) module seperates for planetfall missions.

The phaser array looks a bit large and flat. Unless that is to show the small size of the ship. Good effort on a new ship.

The ship is small, I'd say arround defiant size. Not sure if the phasers strip staying or not.
