Trying a new trick I learned from my Galaxy class. I'll map Tobias's textures onto my ship as guides for making my own.

Neat. Looking at those last two pics, be careful you don't make the view screen window too wide though, it's narrower than the recessed bit it sits in.

Don't know If you've seen this already, but there's an ILM documentary that features a short bit about Star Trek 09. There's some brief but nice views of the ship and (presumably) the actual ILM model, could be a good reference for your textures  :)

Nice find with that ILM Documentary.  Has a couple of nice beauty passes with the ship that I wish had been done in the actual movie...

As for the textures, Baz has been using Tobias's as a guide at the moment, he definitely has his own style texture for the bridge, and I believe he had the size of the viewscreen right.

When I was shown it on my VFX course, my first thought was 'I gotta get this to BCC' :funny
Me too, it's my only real gripe with the first film; not enough Enterprise flybys!

Yeah it's tricky to see how baz is handling it from that angle. These shots are probably the best reference for what I mean:

The whole inset area has some light spread (much like the insets on the sides) but only the brightest section in the middle is the actual 'window'. I think it's the same on TBs model, but I only have a small version of his ortho's. It's hard to tell.

The "viewscreen" has a border.

Anyway this does not look like much but has taken several days to get right but the hull patterns are not mapped out for the aztec.

You should totally release a version that looks like this. :P it would look hilarious battling other ships. :D

Nah, you don't have to, its just a suggestion. It would look awesome though.

Tobias's seems to have a blue hue to it.

Looking very cool. Have you backed up this one yet? :p
