USSP Stargazer
« on: July 19, 2009, 11:20:51 AM »
Unsure if it goes here seeing as I probably won't have time to put it further than the model and at this point in time know nothing else of it (That and a lack of 3dsm3), so if it doesn't I'm sure it'll get moved accordingly.

Ever since I saw the bridge as a kid I loved it, and nobody has made any mention of it being done. As such, I threw it together in my spare time. Currently at 1.5k and probably full of inconsistency/errors, but everything is a learning experience. However, there is no decent reference of the roof, so that may need to be winged (Unless I've missed something, but hey, that's what dvd's are for, right?)

EDIT: Front console added

EDIT 2: Placeholder chairs added for scaling.

Nice bridge! You are right: only going on and trying is the solution to became more expert: my bridge, for example, has parts which I have redone a lot of time (viewscreen, stations, front consolle, ...), so it is now more canon. As for the roof, maybe something similar the Nebula bridge's roof or the Ambassador Bridge's one.
I wish you have a good work!

Thank you for the praise, Picky. Something alike the Ambassador does sound like a good idea for the roof, I may have a look at other TMP bridges like the Excelsior's too. Almost done with the Tactical console on the rear wall, will post something of it shortly.

Not sure if its helpful or not, but the Stargazer bridge is just a slight redress of the battle bridge.

All in all, looking good Primey!

Is that a hint, Dale? :P But yeah, I noticed that while rewatching Season 1.
I've also noticed (through Picky's TWOK bridge) that the Stargazer bridge is almost identical in terms of screens/consoles and such.

Curious...

Probably because the Stargazer design was a combination of a Constitution-class vessel and a deep-dish pizza pan with nacelles attached to it. *chuckles*

Well... I like TMP and I do love pizza... Maybe that's why it's so appealing?

EDIT: Tactical console and whatever the other one is added, seeing as it's mirrored. I'm not sure but they seem a bit small. Can I get some opinion on this, please?

They should be resting against the wall like \ insterad of almost vertical to it.

Noted and amended.

This'll do for tonight I think, pizza and sleep call to me. Sitting at 2.8k (I believe someone said a while (long while) ago that a good limit after taking the characters into account was around 10k?) Can anybody remember off-hand what the standard models sit at?

EDIT: Wrong image *facepalm & fixed*

Railing and rear screens added.

EDIT: That weird lack of shading on the side closest is just stuff that hasn't been unified yet. You can't actually see it from inside the set.

The tactical console panels are still perpendicular to the wall. They need to be resting against it at a steep angle.

They are actually resting on the wall, but if you mean the screen isn't tilted enough that can be rectified.

During work on the Intrepid bridge, 3rd Era said that 23k was the upper limit before lag started to happen. That's 23k for the actual bridge, not including the crew.

 ... Well, I think this'll be done at 5.5k. Can always try another and see if I can hit the 23k mark. ;)

I'm confused...I'm an old Klingon Academy tinkerer (modder seems to be the wrong title, as all I did was tinker with a few files and textures and all that...and give suggestions, of course), but I was led to believe...aren't low polys a GOOD thing?

Yes, they are. But only if quality isn't compromised.

If it's gonna end that low, might I suggest giving the seats some definition to them? They look quite uncomfortable at the moment.

Still haven't gotten around to redoing them yet. Wanted them to be last.

Dude, if you are sitting at 5.5k tris, you should feel obligated to add detail wherever you can, even if it does not exist :P.

Also, the roof is going to murder your polycount.

YES! Finally someone makes a bridge that genuinely interests me! IMHO, Constellation class is one of the coolest looking ships of TMP era, and even more because Hathaway was good enough to make Ent-D look like a fool in Peak Performance.
