latest info is showing that where i am (Rhode Island) will be hit by Hurricane Irene on Sunday evening...
if it holds up, i will most definitely be having a hurricane party here at the house!   :D  :drink2: :drink3: :drink:
those are always fun - a handful of people, a bunch of booze, a bunch of food; and if we lose power than we'll play card games or board games or whatever and when drunken, run around outside in the streets in the soaking rain lol

If I were Irene I would head straight for Texas....Not because I want to see it destroyed, but they've had enough of the drought :P

Before Jimmy kills me ( ;)) I concur! I remember back when Hurricane Ike hit we all got off work and school (In Ohio!) for wind damage

LOL Truth is I'm just sick of seeing the Texas Drought on the news...a lot of rain would do you guys some good...minus the gail force winds etc.

latest info has the storm about 250 miles southwest of Rhode Island at 8am Sunday with winds of 100mph...  the track has the eye of the storm going directly over Providence, RI (my city) during the evening hours (prolly around or just before 8pm or so)...
theyre already saying this storm could be one of the biggest and most major events we've had in decades...
good times!

well the latest forecasted track has the hurricane moving a little more west of where i am, almost directly over new york city...  still should have sustained winds of about 100mph and the worst of it should be from sunday late morning til monday morning...
that still sucks for me since the most powerful section of a hurricane is on its eastern side, and it also sucks hardcore for new york city...  all those buildings in the city will act like wind tunnels and no doubt every city across the northeast (nyc, hartford, providence, boston, etc) will likely all lose power, not to mention widespread damage...
every meterorologist on every station i have been watching have all been saying this will be a major significant threat, the storm will be huge in size, and this area of the country hasnt seen an event like this in decades...  im starting to become worried to be honest...  i hope theyre over-dramatizing it...
im still having a hurricane party tho lol

The humidity's risen sharply in the last two days - we've had thundershowers and such too. Plus, we have Irene headed in our direction; it should hit the Massachusetts coast by Sunday-ish. I live inland, but the Merrimack River is about a mile or so from the house, so it's possible any flooding there might affect us too.

Me too. Super-humid here as well. I prefer temperatures in the 18-20 degree range (celsius). Not too hot, not too cold. Winters i'm perfectly fine if it dips below 0, but it should not be too far under zero.
