not anymore ... had max 9 but it was a spare copy of my friend, now that he sold it I couldn't keep it and now I'm running on ms3d and nifskope :P since I'm not plannign to get max any time soon I'm gonna stick to texturing ...

Alright, guess it's in my ballpark then.

EDIT:  And with the addition of the bridge and sauna (:P), I'm retiring for the night.  A little bit under 5000 tri's.

well im glad to see this ship going in, maybe theres a possibility of getting some other STO ships in down the line as some of them are deserving. i would do it but my past attempts have been stupidly flawd so im gonna wait till i know what i need to know about max because the best i can do is substandard gitterey as i call it.

anyways good luck and i look forward to playing with these ingame.

Ah, the Exeter.  The design really seems like a refit JJ-Prise.

I've been thinking about something.

The Exeter has this space in between the two impulse engines and below the sauna/crystal that's somewhat ambiguous.  I've been wondering what I could put there.  I've come up with several options.  Of course, I'm not sure if this is still applicable for a 25th Century ship, but some would maintain that it's the top of the warp core, others would say it's the top of the impulse engine reactor(s), but if it's either of those two I'll just leave it as is.  So I'm going to have a poll.

1.  Saucer shuttlebay.  Would be mostly an aesthetic thing and wouldn't allow for hull separation.
2.  Battle bridge.  Would allow for a saucer separation, but I would need help from someone familiar with MVAM.
3.  Leave it as is.  Would maintain the original look of STO's Exeter and allow the crystal to be either the top of the impulse reactors or warp core.

I like how the deflector looks without smoothing groups. :D

All that's really left are the bussard collectors.  I'm really happy with how this is turning out.  It's still under 10k tri's. :D

shuttle bay would be technicaly impossible to fit in there ... look how close to the outer edge is impulse reactor ... I would simply put there few windows from impulse engineering room and maybe a registry number with name with nice spotlights from below

Gotta agree with Bones on this.  I don't think a shuttlebay would work.

Well, by the 2350's-60's, impulse fusion reactors only take up the couple dozen meters ahead of the impulse exhaust.  My Enterprise D blueprints say so anyways.  :P  And since the Exeter is a 25th century ship, I don't see a reason why the fusion reactors would take up the whole aft section of the saucer.  So I figure all poll options are still valid.  I'll let it run its course.

Why dont you just do a varient which has the extra stuff on it like the shuttle bay above the neck and some other extras and have the STO version as the basic build so to speak?

Also looking at the model i have for an artistic project of mine and not for any other ST game, i think you missed something off the bottom of the saucer, heres a pic to show you what i mean. ive circled them so you can see em. I Must stress that i take no credit for the work of cryptic here and this image is only to help someone out.

hope this can be of some help

Gah, I've spent the last six hours working on those lumps above the bussard collectors.  Time to actually make the bussards.

Oh, and Flarespire, I've no plans to add in those indents.  Cryptic added them in various places on various canon ships for various reasons;  I believe in this case they are for beam turrets, which have no place since it's already fitted with phaser arrays.

Actually theyre torpedo launchers, just checked in STO, might be worth putting them in after youve done the bussards, as this is a cryptic design and not a canon trek design, it would probably be worth doing in the long run, as to me the exeter doesnt look right withought em.

That makes no sense for them to be torpedo launcher, the neck already has two.  Knowing they're torpedo launchers makes me not want to put them on even more.  Two forward, two aft is plenty enough.

i guess its mainly because of the increase in enemy activity that theyre upping the armaments on ships or its just a feature and they put generic weapons placement there, plus you can tell by the shape of the indents that they have some real use on the ship if not for what ive suggested.

Also it looks pretty bland in that area on your renders.

I'm trying to reflect the STO Exeter's hardpoint as well.  The cruiser refit is still confined to 2 forward weapons, 2 aft.  At max, you'd only be able to slot two torpedo launchers and then you'd have no forward phasers.  The ship can thus only reasonably support one torpedo launcher in STO, so it doesn't make sense to have any more than two torpedo launchers on this model, which are already on the neck.

Even though this ship is a 25th century vessel, that doesn't mean it needs a dozen weapon emplacements.  Shoot, the Klingon Empire and the Federation were in open hostilities in TOS, and you couldn't even see the weapon mounts on the Constitution.

I'll stick with what I put on there, Flarespire.  Don't worry, she'll be able to hold up in battle.  Her default torpedoes will be quantums and she'll be agile enough to roll through her phaser arcs.  This isn't my first ship you know. :P
