Farshot - when you get to that point, can hook this starbase up with a number of phaser arrays (maybe torp bays?)?
other versions i have played seemed to not have very many weapons, i would assume that a starbase should be well armed and very much able to protect itself from an attack or even a fleet attack...

also - would this base be ok to include in the SP mod (also your Defiant)?

I don't know about the weapons thing.  It's not in canon, but maybe I can work something out.

Putting out an open casting call for an experienced HPer who knows MVAM and Ftech scripts in and out if possible.

Problem solved.  I'll put weapons on it if I feel like it, case closed.

I think I mentioned to FS before that subbing this for SP Mod will only work if he makes a version that scales and orients precisely to match the original stock one.

I wouldn't worry about that...I think BC is not so much for playing anymore as snap shot taking.  Going into too much detail will just drown GPU's and crash.

I play BC at least once a week  :D
Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
 Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

I don't think there's any major faults with the original model(s) of STO ships. It's the fact that alot of their ships have really poor texturing.

A lot of people bash the Odyssey for, I think, no reasonable reasons.  I bet a lot of people would quiet down if I showed them that the Odyssey is basically a slightly larger Galaxy class.  The saucer, about the same size.  The secondary hull, about the same but longer.  The nacelles and pylons take after the Sovereign class very closely.  And lastly, the thing that most people don't like - the necks.  Many people say they look flimsy, easily punched through, etc.  They're extremely similar to the Galaxy class in cross-section though, so unless haters are willing to extend that argument - that the Galaxy is a flimsy, unwieldy design with a very structurally unsound neck - they're being hypocritical. :P

...which inspired me to do a Galdyssey mockup.  Saucer rotated 90 degrees, secondary hull and necks scaled up in length.  That size comparison is accurate too, based on 642 meter Galaxy to 1 km Odyssey.

:D its a good ship... my complaint lol was the idea that the neck design helped with warp... ie it made it smoother or something because the forces would pass through the hole.

i was under the impression that the ship was surrounded by a warp ''bubble''.

note: this is not a attack on that ship which i like i just ignore the reason stated for the twin neck... if anything id say it was utilising the "arch" to provide strength while reducing mass :D

The primary reason why I like the Odyssey is that it has a unique character.  More than half of the Enterprise F fan designs out there are basically upscaled Sovereigns - sleek hotrods with a streamlined united body and swept back pylons.  I do like the Sovereign class, but rehashing a design kills its uniqueness.  I hold the notion of having a Sov2.0 in the Ent F slot as about as silly as Tier 5 Constitutions that people want in STO.

Trek ships are generally impractical.

This STO ship is just the latest nightmare in "design" for the sake of uniqueness.  There is no reason to have two interconnecting dorsal structures and then laden it with windows.  You've spent 2x the resources to stiffen a structure when the same could be achieved with cross-member techniques that transfer loads into the main superstructure (Stardrive).  (you also create absolutely unnecessary complications for conduits, umbilical, stairways and umbilical.)

Personally I don't find the New Ship from STO canon. I don't find any of those designs canon.  Usually Trek ships are created by designers not just artist.  And most fans are just artist that believe difference is better and that form follows function which is why you get ships like Sovereign, Akiraprise, JJprise and the Odyssey Class.

...There is a reason why the Refit is the most honored designs in Trek.

*hmms*

the ships may not be esthetically pleasing to you guys, but there's something about that livery they made for STO...
