Well, yeah, that's continuous burning, but once the burning is done and it's cooled down to, say, the temperature of space, the metal becomes harder sometimes.

Well the burn marks aren't all that big of a deal but on some of the textures it appears the hull has several major cracks throughout it and it seems like those would pose a problem.  As for Voyager, should could barely go Warp without chunks of hull plating being torn off.  Plus Voyager had no Starbase to go home too.  I would assumes the Terrans would.

and being Terran Empire, while sitting on a space dock, they're easy targets for internal political plotting, backstabbing, poisoning, sabotage.. oh wait, that's happening anyways.

Judging from your wallpaper/render, I'd take it you want the phasers to remain red? =p

Textures look fine to me, makes it more interesting to imagine what kind of horrors or glorious battles they have faced =p
(And I doubt these buggers would like to hang around starbases for too long)
HP's are coming along, been quite busy lately but it's tuning down now, so got more time to work on them =)

Well its been a while, the other projects are still going there just moving slowly  :) but they will be done..eventually.

I've been seeing alot of modeling done recently and i thought i might have a go again, This time i'm going for a small science vessel Its also a cross between the Sabre/Intrepid/Sovereign. Smoothing groups are just for play at the moment and won't be final. Roughly sitting at 2000 polys. The attached image is what i'm aiming at detail wise.

All for fun and practise  ;) , Suggestions are gladly accepted. Oh and i'm using Gmax so no renders

Nice Start, on what ever it.

:P its just what ever i feel looks good at the time, so i started it as a simple TOS shaped saucer ... not any more though.

Continued with "it" and refined the sides and started some work on the bottom of the saucer. I'm thinking of having the nacelles fall under the saucer, and perhaps having a pod on it somewhere depending on how it looks. 2 deflectors by the way  :D .

Another pic

EDIT: experiment with the deflectors

Well "It" looks a lot better now, looks like late 24th Century, Scout/Science ship.

looks a fair amount like this http://www.subspace-comms.net/index.php?topic=3618.0, but with a shorter, thinner engineering hull

wow it is pretty close to that actually, but where i'm heading it won't look anywhere near that :P

some more pics, generally its starting to get tedious and i'm wondering how the great BC modders do it :) . just under 5000 polies. all sort of smoothing still to be done, and the underside needs abit more detail somehow. i'll build the bridge next then the pylons....then come up with some sort of Nacelle.......and after all that i need to figure out how to attach it all.  :hithead:

No i'm trying to squeeze it under 10k polys, its just that bit thats 5k, And yes i was thinking the same thing about the nova replacement. If i can get it complete I want one of the registries to be the "USS Equinox 72381-A"

Now what looks better, pylons up or down. I want the pylons down because it not seen often but i'll go with what looks right.

I'd go with Pylons Up on that design, provided the nacelles aren't being blocked in the forward view by the saucer.

I've decided the pylons are going down :D

I've also built some quite funky nacelles for my standards lol. Bridge section is next and some more details to the saucer section. i've also landed he with a name, USS Solstice NX 150792, Science vessel to the core :)

Pictures...what do you think

That ship looks a slight bit like my Argonaut class. Looks nice though.

With the down position of the pylons, I think the aft section would make a nice platform for a Nebula Style weapons pod. Or possibly a Miranda or Akira style weapons bar.

Don't know if you want to go that way design wise, just an observation. :)

Looks neat so far.

Not bad at all! I like where you're going with this.
