Hehe, thanks for the suggestions boys, girls, and those of undetermined gender. I'll take all those names into consideration. :)

Here's a render of the first 10 minutes of texture work. I'm a complete and total NOOB at this crud, so please forgive me for bad quality textures!

Bad quality textures... are you nucking futz! Those look pretty damn good lol

haha thanks for all the praise guys. :] I've added another paneling layer, something out of a small hull panel png I put together some time ago and converted to a paint bucket pattern. It kinda works, but the paneling itself is far from completed. I have also added some hull lines with the pen tool and in addition, a starfleet emblem... I kinda like it. :P

Thanks. :]

And a little more. Got a specular made (more or less), and added some little details along with the ship's name and registry. Also added light weathering to the hull paneling.

It's amazing what a good specular map will do to a model. Before seeing the specular, the texturing looked a bit "dead". Now you made it really come alive (and much closer to the look of the NX-01 style) :)

EDIT: Are you certain about the NX-400 registry? Being that it's close to the Kelvin, maybe NX-0400 ? Or are we going in a more "prime timeline" appearance here?

Great work here, Aeries  :) . I love the shape and design of the ship. IMO, the JJ 'style' works much better for the Bonaventure than the original.
As an aside, I saw someone on Sci-fi Meshes doing something simmilar to this; but in all honesty, I like yours more  ;) .

Thanks! :]
I know exactly the project on SFM you're talking about too! :P It's the same one that's actually inspired me to build this, although honestly, I really like the warp nacelles on his model a lot more than my own... nacelles aren't really my strongest point. which reminds me, I gotta rebuild these nacelles soon too... X__x

Yeah I'm gonna keep it. Kelvin aside, it's always been a "Trek thing" not to put zeros at the beginning of a ship's registry. Personally it makes sense to me to keep it a simple 400 instead of a 0400. Of course there's the NX-01 herself as an exception, but I think NX-01 physically LOOKS a lot better than NX-1. Hell, I'd go so far as to say that NX-1 looks rather silly. :P

I may do NCC-0400 though, for the JJEnterprise-style textures, though, for some variety if nothing else.

Edit: Added dorsal (?) cargo bay doors and service lifts. Also added a luminosity map and begun work on the deflector dish and housing.

I really like the textures as well as your trek emblem. I also like the location of the registry, but the typeface looks too TMP. Is that what you originally wanted?

The typefaces used for the JJ-Enterprise are Microgramma are the larger fonts and Fear Factor (found for free at Dafont.com) for the nacelles.
Here's some possible alternatives (if you are going to change them):

http://www.dafont.com/bombardier.font
http://www.dafont.com/usn-stencil.font

I think the second one is closer to what they used for the Kelvin. It's not quite TOS, but it is a variant. I'm just throwing out my opinion. :)
