Because I havent seen anywhere the Almera on 3D model, I started slowly to draw her. In some casses, drawing on rhino is a bit difficult and slowly, but still is the program that I can draw. Here some viewports and pictures of the car

and the progress is attached
-
I started to draw again. Ive deleted all surfaces because It wasnt good. Rhino made me soo nervous :mad
btw, how to make in 3ds max the curves, to start from the nearest line or point?
-
good place to start
-
Who can tell me which is the best way how to place the blueprint? Using planes or boxes? Or something else?
-
Create a plane roughly the same size as you blueprint.
In matiral editor open your pic and assign it to the plane.
Use the scale tool to correct the proportions.
Left click in the top of the view port (over the left, front or top text) and change to smooth / highlights.
You the clone tool to make copies and rotate and move them until you have all the planes covered. Left click on each one and select freeze and un check show frozen in grey.
Start to model.
-
I made the planes in 3ds max but I stuck on the mapping, so Rhino was in great help :funny. Here are the planes.
Edit: on the viewports everything is grey ;(
-
My noobish consciousness, cant make the textures to appear in the viewports :(
-
4th button from the right directly below the balls.

Thanks mate. + cookied :)
-
I have just started to model :P
-
update
EDIT: what happened to the 3ds max? It wont extrude :'(
Start from the beggining and its very difficult without extrude :(
-
Curved bodies n three dimensions like that are going to be difficult with or without an extrude tool. But you have the orthographic projections set up nicely and seem to be coping well.
-
How the guy from the tutorial which Baz gave is copying the edges?
-
To extrude an edge, first select the edge you want press and hold shift and drag the new edge out.
-
I think this is better :P
-
And one big update :P
-
And after a bit smoothing. Still needs more work.
-
The symmetry isnt working properly. I cant move the copied part, because its mirroring it so close :'(
-
The front part is nearly finished :P
-
And a preview from Rhino ;)
-
That's a crazy high ploy mesh.
-
Update
-
And 3ds max preview. Still I have a lot of work on it.
-
I have to cut back the vertecles, because they are soo much and Max is making smothing errors. For now 150-200 are reduced. About 1000 to go :funny
-
I havent been written here for a long time. Here is some progress with the car.
-
Started and the interior :P After I finish her, can someone help me to fix the smoothing errors?
-
Update.
-
oooOOOOooo. Shiny! Cookie ;)
-
vgdude, thanks for the cookie. For any GTA San Andreas and GTA IV, wait for the Almera for these two games :P
Update, interior nearly finished
-

-
I hate this part :( I hate the texturing! Awful work :funny I forgot to take a picture of the carpet, and offcourse, Im lazy as I can and I wont go to the garage again. I found a carpet in the NET. :funny
-
And before I go to sleep
-
Update :P
EDIT:
new paintjob :P
-
Did you manage to fix the smoothing errors completely? As I can see a few on the latest shots of the exterior. I'd hold off texturing the rest until you've done that (Hell, I could help if you can export to obj or LWO). Also, if you're intending for this to go into GTA4... Just curious, what's its current polycount? Judging by the wireframes earlier it was HUGE. (Can help with that, too.)

Nope, when I fixed some of the mesh erros I severly cutted off some polies ;)

While it is a beautiful model, I'm just not sure how well it'd go as it is in GTA4, but then I've only seen the game played and not actually tried it myself. You still may want to save a second copy if the car, and tone down the detail on the wheels (You can quite easily get away with tyres having all of the faces along the width converted into a single face rather than 10), engine (Similar case) and lights for example.
In a racing game however, it'd go brilliantly.

This is the BETA model. The interior is a bit buggy, the engine too. The summer vacation Ill finisher her at all ;) I sent her to two guys to convert the Almera, because I retared from GTA modding a long ago and I have no nervs for Zmodeler :D
-
From the beggining, again :)
After the Almera is done, fully I mean, I think to model our first car, which was Skoda 105l :P
-
I hope here i can post renders :)

EDIT: Fixed some bugs in the rear of the vehicle and making second Almera - with some tunning. give some advices for the wings and etc :)
-
Okay this is really cool
-
Nearly finished :yay: Still there are some errors to fix :)
-
Looks good but your paintjob is very reflective. Lower the reflection perhaps?
-
Yup, maybe... but school began and there's no such a free time. I don't know when I will finish the Almera, to tell you when I will start your's and Bones's car. Sorry dude :(
-
No worries, i'm doing 3D now myself and my teacher who works on the battlestar galactica himself too is teaching me 3ds max, lightwave, blender and maya.
-
That's very good to hear it :)
-
An update several days before. Remaining only to fix some little bugs + a small hole in the spoiler wing :D
-
I think it would look even better if you'd give the headlight covers even more transparency and show more detail of what's inside, but leave the reflection as is. Same goes for the fog- and taillights.

You are extreamly right  I though about this and as soon as i have enough time i will fix this. Thanks mate :)
-

-
Now i can say that's cool! Currently playing with the skeletons to give some life to the girl! (btw she's downloaded from the net).
