Title: How do I convert .OBJs to .NIFs for BC in 2023?
Post by: WPL on February 15, 2023, 11:46:17 AM
Hey everyone! After a minute (okay a decade) I'm getting back into modding BC. However, I'm having difficulty converting my .objs to .nifs. Whenever I put my .nif into Kobayashi Maru (the new version, I haven't modded it) and start a quick battle, the game crashes before the battle loads (while the crew is staring at the viewscreen). The weird thing is I'll put my old .nifs into the game and it will work fine. It's only the new ones that are giving me a problem. I've even tried using older versions of Nifskope, but that doesn't seem to work. I've also tried using a simple sphere to make sure that my modeling isn't the problem, but that doesn't work either. I'll tell you the things that I am doing:

-Triangulating my mesh before exporting to .obj.

-In NiTriShapeData I update the Tangents and BiTangents in Nifskope.

Suffice it to say I get no error messages when saving the .nif.

I guess my general question is: How are people creating .nifs for Bridge Commander in 2023?

Thanks!

i would recommend posting at Discord, that's where BC modders are much more active there...
