Chimera Shuttle

The Chimera Shuttle was developed by the Federal Alliance during the mid 21st century. It was an updated version of the old NASA Orbiter and benefited from many new technologies developed in that century. Its main improvements over its old counterpart were:
An advanced Ion enhanced propulsion system that allowed the shuttle to lift off and escape Earth under its own power. Refuelling once in orbit was a requirement at the beginning of its service, but new advances have seen its efficiency increase to do away with that necessity.
Another advance was the hull. The heat resistant hull of the old shuttle was fragile but this new hull construction was both more aerodynamic and stronger, and has been proven to be resilient even after a multitude of launches to and from space.
Other advances have been utilised over the Chimera’s life time indeed little externally has changed in the hundred years since its first launch and now it has been heralded as the reason Humankind has colonised the solar system.

The Chimera has a unique system which gives reason for its name. It has a link system that allows it to have other components attached to it, the main ones being an engine section and a cargo sled. This allows the shuttle to carry far more cargo than would normally be available in its standard cargo/payload bay. This link system can be disengaged at any time allowing the shuttle to off load a sled and then return for more.

The Chimera design has been used by both government and civilians and while the military versions are superior in its internal components the actual shuttle design is no different between them.

Unfortunately pirates have also been operating for almost as long as the Chimera has been in use. The military shuttles have been upgraded to suit this threat to civilian and commercial shipping; its main upgrade has been the CO2 laser system which is located on a hard-point on the underside of the shuttle.
These laser systems have automatic fire and forget technology that locks onto any target and fires upon them independently of the shuttle pilot’s main target. This provides a full Z axis 360 degree coverage from its four laser emitter’s and a-45 degree coverage on the Y axis. There is another upgrade to the military shuttle and that is the use of the Payload bay to house two rail guns, these cannons fire Ionised slugs that can rip a pirate vessel or errant asteroid into pieces, as a projectile weapon they are limited to the ammo carried which tends to be 500 rounds each.

As the military upgraded, so did the pirates. The normal cargo shuttle is equipped with a low yield plasma pulse cannon. These cannon are used primarily for asteroid protection but the pirates have upgraded their shuttles to carry three extra cannons. This has the advantage of increasing the fire power that a pirate vessel has but it does put a huge strain on the power systems of the shuttle. It also means that the shuttle is incapable of planet side landings due to the cannons being mounted in the bays that housed the shuttles landing gear.

Other modules that are available for the Chimera link system are following: Science upgrades, public transport between stations and colonies.
Its versatility and sturdiness means there is little chance that the Chimera would need to be discontinued; it has colonised the Sol system and now services the expanded human race amongst the stars.

3) Shuttle frame work but has no carrier script (ie: it has shuttle and cargo bay hp but no carrier script)

Installation

Copy and paste the folders Data and Scripts into your Bridge Commander main directory.
