I have the 10 movie boxset that came out some time ago (Sadly not Blu-ray, as I didn't have a player back then.) and just put FC in to watch. The image of the Excelsior caught my eye and I realised that the ship isn't seen in the battle against the cube. It seems like an odd choice as it was so regularly featured throughout TNG. The Miranda class isn't there either. Are we taking it that these were all off fighting the Dominion?

Are you talking about the trailer for FC?? They used footage from Ep1 of DS9.
-
No, in the movie. Just saw the Miranda class in it.

The recent re-release box sets feature new artwork, poorly executed photoshop attempts. Many feature scenes not in the movies.

Judging by Stardates, the events of First Contact happened -before- the outbreak of open hostilities between the Federation and the Dominion (Call to Arms episode).

I suppose that's why they could spare Worf and the Defiant.

Star Trek: First Contact - 50893.5
Dominion War arc:
In the Cards (5x25) - 50929.4
Call to Arms (5x26) - 50975.2
A Time to Stand (6x01) - Unknown stardate
A Time to Stand takes place 3 months after 'Call to Arms'.
