I've always wondered how many people lurk without ever posting. There are always so many more views on threads than posts.
Lurkers, please post in here a hello or something. I'm curious how many of you there are. :D

Criticism is always good. Especially from people you don't regularly get it from, as usually, fresh blood gives good insight on mesh errors, or design flaws, or just what the public is after. :D

I've been lurking the boards a long time by now,
i started to lurk when CG released his Sovereign,
I'm still trying to texture ships, but I'm at the very beginning, the only thing I can do is doing regs for ships, but I'm far away from texturing complete ships, this will take a long time before I can do this.
I'm visiting BCU, hmmmmm 7-10 times a day, seeing whats new, but thats it.
I probably have some more time in the near future to get a bit more active, giving contructive critisim an such things, and to learn how to texture ships completly and not just recoloring them and give them other regs, but at least it's a small step ^^

Hey I'm one of the lurkers around here. Usually just check between classes to see if there are any new WIP's or updates. So yeah. Looking forward to your WIP's for this year DJ.

I used to lurk a lot around here but it wasn't until last Christmas when I had something to show everyone that I actually joined. I think I lurked for just over half a year? It was actually BC and the works of DJ and a few others that got me into modeling to begin with. :lol:

'Twas Daves Stargate Pack that got me in. My first several posts were in his thread at FF and I, along with many others, followed him to BCS after the whole GJO era. First thing I ever modelled was the Priors chair on the Ori bridge.

Been pretty busy as of late in Uni, but i'm still here.

Mostly lurking since coming here with problems (and finding solutions) concerning KM and Galaxy Charts. My programming skills are old and graphic skills are even older. I follow both sections (and skim through most of the others) but shy away from commenting on things that're beyond my own abilities.

I'd say I'm a lurker as well. I just watch out for news which are of interest to me (eg Scripting Section / WIPs) and comment on only a few things like DQP. And atm it seems like I've too much time left so I'm posting (and resurrecting this thread) here :lol:

Hi everyone.
I'm something of a lurker here myself too. I'm a huge fan of all the awesome mods that people have made for all the Star Trek games out there, they've certainly improved my enjoyment of those games. So I'd like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the whole modding community for all these years of excellence. I wish I had your talents, but I don't so all I can do is admire yours. LOL!
My favourite BC mods are of course the Bridge Plug-In and the bridges made for it. I used to have loads of problems with all the mods I had installed. But when I discovered KM 1.0 a few months ago, that not only sorted them all it made the game a lot better looking too! So, many thanks there! I think big mods like that are probably better as all the parts usually work together better. It's the same with the Ultimate Universe Mod for ST Legacy (another awesome game and mod I play regularly!).
Finally, I want to say like so many of you I too was shocked and saddened at the recent news of Filefront packing-up. I regularly visit BCFiles, LegacyFiles and EliteForceFiles every day and have always enjoyed seeing new awesome mods released.

I have released... One mod for BC, the Tardis retexture, simply because i preferred the newer version to the old one...
I would be happy to texture a Tardis for somebody if they built a better model =).

Myself, I usually wind up joining the forums after a while. I lurk for forever, or until I'm comfortable that the community in question is accepting and "cool enough", then join when I'm comfortable with the idea. I hate joining places and finding out it's full of jerks.

I've been around since 2006.08.02 and this is my 64th post.... I tend to follow BC modding/BC Scripting/BC Bridge Modding and BC Downloads venturing into other topics such as this one from time to time. Then I usually stop posting for a peiod and am primarily a voyeur observing from behind the scenes :shock:...Lurker I meant lurker....

I've come a long way in terms of 3d rendering since those days as well.
I'm currently involved with a team from the Netherlands who are working on a Star Trek Fan Series called Dark Armada.

id been lurking round here for a little over a year, i only registered at like the beginning of the year because i wanted to get into modding, and now that i have im glad i made the decision.
and DJ, keep up the kick ass work dude, ur definitely an inspiration.

Ive been lurking abit lately(for a few years now), mainly because I failed with my Wing Commander mod(the bigger one, had TONS more ships Kilrathi,Confed,Black Lance,Nephilim,Pirate ETC) and lost most of my files for it and cant get them anymore, because some people were very rude, and because this game and these modding forums are so old(or you were too busy) that most of you wouldnt take the time to help me on stuff without giving me a hard time instead of just helping,also because I dont know what else to contribute that hasnt been already done.
I pretty much moved to NanoFX Evolved as a beta tester, been on their site more than this one.
But I came back recently because I tried to re-install BC and some new mods I saw...but the games giving me a hard time since I forgot what order to install the mods without causing crashes or a black screen or both..

Hello! I tend to lurk every once in a while when I'm bored with my work on the First Contact pack LOL, and sometimes I just lurk to well...lurk :P.
I was a bigger lurker back in the old days at BCU...mainly because I was a bit shy :oops: And well, the first mod I installed was a torpedo mod which i screwed up majorly (mainly because back then I didn't know about foundation and the BC patch lol)
But now that I've become more active, I've learned a lot about texturing (which I'm STILL learning) and I'm working my way into max. I do have all of you to thank!

I was lurking from 03' - 06' over at BCU. From 07' - about half of 08' I lost interest in BC and barely started coming back, only this time I decided to post. I'm still kinda getting acquainted with all the new stuff that came out while I wasn't actively checking the sites (things like Ftech and so fourth, I stopped coming around when ATP was still widely used :D )

Hi all, sorry I'm rarely around much.
I find it comforting that whenever I go on BC and it crashes, I can always rely on this forum for help :)
Problem is, I'm so out of touch with what's going on at BC (eg. the latest ships 'n' scripts etc. released) that it'll be hard for me to catch up with everything :(
I'm still actually not sure what is compatible with the Kobayashi Maru, and what isn't.
I don't want to install something, only to find out that I'll have to reinstall BC again because it isn't compatible! Is there a list of mods that isn't compatible (or is) with KM anywhere?

I am Shroudeye, and I'm interested in Star Trek universe. And obviously, I've played Bridge Commander-a little long ago, and decided to re-visit it. Yet I had problems in Windows 7, which I'll discuss in another thread, and as I was looking for a solution, I found this site. I've decided to join in, as I am also curious about this "editing" for Bridge Commander... Looks like I've been missing a lot???

New member saying hello. I found this sight and bridge commander on a random search for hi-res spaceship backgrounds. I went right to amazon and my new copy of bridge commander arrived last week :dance . I have since modded and crashed it numerous times. Its a learning process but the support here is awsome!
I am running a Dell xps 9100 with 1024MB ATI RadeonTM HD5670 graphics card. Windows 7

Damn, what a long two years it's been. That's around the time I disappeared.
I've grown up a lot since I left. I've been through a huge move, two breakups and a hell of a lot of problems. I've entered the working world; been working for about a year now. For awhile I completely forgot BC Central even existed. I've been through absolute highs, and complete rock bottom. I'm not the same little obnoxious punk I was when I first signed up. Amazing what life will do to you; rape you, eat you, chew you up and spit you right back out. Tends to knock the child out of you right quick.
But at the same time I've found things that keep me going. I play guitar a lot now. I sold my Xbox; it was taking way too much time away from other things. I'd be up till 5-6AM and waste the next day away sleeping. Don't get me wrong, summer of 2010 was a hell of a lot of fun; right before I started working I played through several games that really changed me. Maybe that sounds odd. But Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2? Absolute life changers. I was up till 9AM one morning with Mass Effect 2. Couldn't put the thing down. I found a couple YouTubers I watch regularly; they help keep my spirits up. Toby Turner being #1 on the list; RayWilliamJohnson pulling a close second.
I have a lot of friends that have stuck by me through the hard times. True friends. Friends that can look me in the face and tell me what an idiot I'm being about something when I need them to; friends I can do the same to. Without the friends I've made over the past two years, I've no doubt I'd be in rough shape.
I'm going to try to check in as much as I can. Been too long a time away.

I'm Boulder and have had Bridge Commander for roughly a year and half now and thought it would be good to sign up here at BC Central just to say Hi and Merry Christmas. From first looks it looks like i'm missing out on a party with mods and all.. I currently am a mapper for The Ultimate Universe Mod for Star Trek Legacy and currently only produce Skirmish maps for the game but am looking to break the traditional mold of skirmish maps and develop other type of maps like Exploration maps and VS and Coop Wave maps. I have only released one Skirmish map at this time because i believe in Quality over Quantity and i believe that players of the game will enjoy playing a particular map that is of High Quality rather than one of Lesser Quality and so that they enjoy playing the game. I am looking to change my name from Boulder to Captain ***** don't know at this point in time what is going to be after captain but er well, Happy days.

I have been out for more then 1 month so here is my delayed happy new year and happy xmas to all.

I've been away for a while. I formed SBP07 to try and get younger modders together to learn together. It sort of lost steam after about a year. I think some good was done though. After 4 years of inactivity I decided to return and see what is still going on around here. I've been working with maya a lot lately, but I still think max is better in some ways. I wouldn't mind joining a ship building team as a member. Running the whole show isn't really what I'm into any more. I started writing missions, then hardpoints and eventually modeling and last and probably least texturing (not my strongest suit) lol. I go by BCAriakas now, but some of you may remember me as MScott. Anyway, glad there is still life here. Some of the WIP projects are most impressive. I hope to talk to many of you soon. -BCAriakas :)

most of what your looking at is the remnants of Bridge Commander's moddeling efforts. almost everyone else has bolted to "excalubur", the "remaster" of the BC engine for modern comps. the people remaining here are the real diehards, and relative noobs, like me (even though I have a kitbash out for beta; which some of you need to still report back to me about, please...)
i ran into a comment on an eye candy ship that disturbed me, and reflects the latest thoughts on the BC moddeling scene
I cant really see any use in this, but then all I do on bc is blow stuff up and this is already blown up.
Has no practical use for me, I guess you can use it for a mission type deal but modding on this game has pretty much stopped.
the guys in here are going to be the only ones keeping BC alive for a while. sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.

Hi everyone.
I am a big fan of Trek and have been playing STBC it since it came out so many years ago. I briefly spent some time playing the original Kobyashi Maru mod with some friends but after while I reverted back to the original files so I could enjoy the campaign.
I have always been interested in the amazing things you can do with this game as far as modifications go. I studied 3D animation in college and although I have never taken part in game modding, I would love to learn about it and offer any help I can. :yay:

Thanks for the warm welcome. My brother is about to finish his masters degree down at JWU. I checked out that thread and it seems like very exciting stuff. I wish there was a way to take a more advanced game engine, like Source, and recreate the game. A pilot project would be the first mission or a couple ships in a quick battle setting. I am not really capable of doing it my self.

once it is released it will be specifically designed to be very friendly for people to mod... much much easier than BC is, thats for sure...

you dont know that... it is still being constructed - there very well might be an option for the engine and such to be scaled down for people with non-state-of-the-art systems... one of the points of the project is for virtually anyone to be able to enjoy it and to try not to "screw" anyone out of it because of their specs... will it run on a 10 year old machine with a 1ghz processor, 128mb ram and integrated gfx card? im sure it would, with a bit of lag tho lol but who actually has that anyway?
how closely have you been following the project?
anyway, here is a bit from the FAQ as it stands now and is always changing as time goes on and more progress is made - and to be honest any further questions or concerns about Excalibur really should be discussed on their forums...

I would guess Excalibur will be even more old-PC friendly. BC is old and lets face it, the engine isn't state of art as well as it's not too stable. From what I could observe in alpha viewers of NFX_GE I can tell I was able to load about the same ammount of stuff into one scene with keeping good FPS rate as I could in BC ;)

Sorry for vanishing like I did, life kinda got in the way, and since we last chatted I've lost all of my previous work, though just reinstalled BC tonight and now have an itch to model again, not sure if I'll follow through though, the tiber wasn't excatly a hit. Though if anyone by chance has the original mesh laying around id gladly appreciate it lol.
But in other news I'm now a supervisor at my company, I'm incharge of the IT support department which is cool, but keeps me shall we say busy.

Its been a long time since I have properly been present in the Bridge Commander Universe but I am back now and intend to stay in contact regularly.
I hope everybody is in good health, it is certainly nice to be back in the community and even when I were around I was still a new member of the BC Community.

My name is Alex and I have been playing bc for a while, a long while.
I remember hearing about BC after playing plenty of Armada, and I couldn't wait, I still have my original CD from when the game was released.
I'll never forget the feeling when I stumbled upon BCFiles and found ships from the likes of P81, Starforce Productions Team, Rick Knox, and the many more the came.
I found a treasure trove.
Thank you all for making BC an incredible experience that has lead me into an education and career in technology.

Mainly due to real life taking over, and even that went down the cr*pper in the end.
So, while I go through the long horrid journey of trying to find new work and a new reason to keep breathing, I need a new distraction, so I thought I'd get back into BC.
2 people that come here frequently, are on my FB friends list, so they've probably seen all the stuff that I've posted on there since the end of October.
I won't name drop them as I don't want anyone to go bothering them about whats been going on with me, but I have a feeling they know who I mean.
I've pretty much been out of the loop since late 2010, meaning that I've missed alot of stuff.
I did find out about the shut down of BCS:TNG, and I am so sad to see it go. It'll be sadly missed. :(

Phoenix has given us the best Vorchas ever with the choice of TNG or DS9 paint jobs. As well as a new TOS Romulan BoP.
Baz has released two versions of the Vengeance with the second being the prime universe TMP style USS Valor with an Excelsior style scheme.
Wiley just released some Neghvars along with a much needed brand new Galaxy-X with some neat Nebula style variants.
Rifleman80 is still making great videos.
DJ Curtis is still gone though which sucks but, someone did say that maybe maybe maybe sometime in the near future he just might return.

As some of you may know, I had an accident, been passanger, riding with my best friend home, we were rammed by drunk service towing car, went through ditch and crashed into tree ... I'm ok, none of the injuries were serious...
My friend passed away last saturday ... I cannot simply say how I feel ... broken, lost, I felt need to share my pain with you as you're the closest internet bunch I have (sorry if I fucked grammar... I feel like crap)

Well, being a long time lurker, suppose I will finally, formally introduce myself here.
{UFP}Tethys when I began playing in BC back in 2006 or 07, a year or so later went to -=USF=- where I've been ever since. Still a small group, just how we like it :) Most of us talk daily (Sokeybuster, Zerbe and others). Did not get into modding until 2010 when I got interested in creating a ST Machinima series/movie. Pathfinder I think I called it (yeah pretty cheesy). Still, I am intent on creating a Machinima, this time it's called Star Trek Vigilance (I wont go into details, but its set in 2392). The problem I face now, is the lack of games with interior content and 2nd and 3rd person ability (currently only STO at the moment which is horribly limited in functionality/emotes). So here I am, in 2015 modding away... I wouldnt call myself a modder, but more of an enthusiast. Just waiting for something to happen with interiors, but until then I suppose I should contribute most of my time to modding, which is why I am here.
So, thats about me, Im just looking forward to being able to play BC online again now that the master server has a replacement :)

I'm married now. Got a degree in CS / Programming and have been at it for 2.5 years. Just started a cushy cybersecurity job this week making more money than I'd ever thought I'd be making at age 28. Life has been pretty good.

I just redescovered Bridge Commander on GOG and wondered if anyone here can help me out on a problem I am not quite sure where to post this here as it tecnically stems from an installable sovereign bridge up on gamefront. The developer is listed as registered in 2005, so eighteen years ago and he surely is not aware of his bridge still being online.
