I was still trying to toy with permissions lol

Neb ended up fixing it.  Which I am appreciative of! which is a rarity :P

Can you open the files using a hex editor?
Or notepad? (npp sadly boycotts large filesizes  :bitch:)

If neither, I wouldn't bother.

Tried it. We can see some of the issues, but it's quite a lot of damage...

And I'm still kicking myself for it... from now on I'll be making my backups using the SMF backup feature rather than use phpmyadmin :(

Long story short Bones, somebody here decided to trust me with mod powers. And the curse of Intercity125 hit and everything went kaboom.  :banghead:

LONG STORY:  Despite ECGadget's jokes :P, it's actually my fault :/.  When I backed up the database, I used the phpmyadmin version instead of using the SMF function.  The database I had backed up ended up corrupt beyond repair without spending bukus of money to get it fixed.  The only backup I had that was stable was the 2015 one I saved two years ago that seemed to work.

Well, that's unfortunate... still, look on the bright side, most of the contents were saved on your backup ;)
