Title: Edit Mode (Video Tutorial)
Post by: Killallewoks on March 28, 2012, 01:09:23 PM
Well I said I would and here it is, yes it is a bit rough but I wanted to get something quick and easy out. I hope it helps and any questions just ask!

Text instructions now included!!  :D Also here as well now.

Text Instructions:

To activate the console you? need to go into Customise, Configurations, start up options then select automatic test mode. Restart the game and then the console should be avaliable.

To start Edit mode you need to activate the console in game by pressing the ` button next to the 1 key. Then type in Edit() , press enter then you should have now entered edit mode.

You should see now a large menu screen on the left hand side of the screen. This contains all the nesacary functions to change the light and position of ships. To get rid of this menu press the \ key.

To move the camera in edit mode hold down the left mouse key and move the mouse this allows you to move the camera, the same applies for when you have a ship selected which allows you to change the direction a ship is in. You can aslo use the directional keys to move foreward, back, left and right. To actually move a ship you need to press the M key. When you do select an object it will be high lighted in red,

To select a ship you can either select by it left clicking on it or by using select next button on the menu screen. Then you can move it into position anywhere on the map.

To change the light you need to activate the placemets, press the p key in which you should then see large trainagles appear in the game space. To select the light use the menu and press the select next key until you find 'Directional light' and 'Ambient Light'. You can move these the same as the camera and the ship. To change the light there is a menu button called edit light, when you have a light selected and press the edit light button button you will get a menu in the top right corner. Change these values to get the preferable lighting conditions you want and move the light to get it into a position which you want too.

Key:
` Enters the console
m Allows to move objects
p Shows placemets and hides them when pressed again
\ Shows the menu and hides when pressed again.
q Brings a ship or object to your current camera position.

Tips

-Have graphics maxed out, it really impoves the quality of shots.
-Specular aztecking looks good when it is subtle, too much can over power a shot.
-To get aztecking to show up turn off, 'fix bright glow bug' in the Nano FX options.

Happy shooting!

Could you type the instructions too, and add them to the description? Not all of us are native English speakers, and you do speak bit too quickly for a tutorial. :(

Follow the guide and experiment, it's worth it. You should see some of my first Edit pics they were, basic at best.

Those of you who can not type the braces use a non english keyboard layout, right?

Do you have the file KeyConfig.py? If so please open it and post the first ~10 lines starting with a #.

*chuckle* didn't anybody tell you guys?  EVERY country has their own computer keyboard layout.  in Britain, it's not just substituting ? for $ on an American keyboard...everything's moved but the letters themselves.  i learned to automatically type out an alt code when necessary
