Title: Getting Ships To Fire In Edit Mode
Post by: Killallewoks on May 21, 2012, 09:11:07 AM
You ask and I shall do, how to get ships to fire to get some good action shots. This is more of a visual tutorial so me talking is just me talking im most places.

Great tutorial there Kill. I have developed a method too pretty similar to yours but I make my ship invisible

Any idea why sometimes friendly ships don't fire?

Very nice tutorial again! I think this has to do like you said with the arc, sensor range(too close? damage it self perhaps?) With these movies, i hope people will realize how time consume screenshot taking is!

No encountered that myself in my latest picture. The Endeavour fired but the Incom class didn't

EDIT - I have been trying to figure out a solution. I set up an Excelsior class ship against a Dominion Battlecruiser, nothing happened after I made the battlecruiser an enemy so I went to the fleet orders section of the helm station and picked 'attack my target' then suddenly the Excelsior burst into life. Haven't tried it on a fleet yet

Ah! I orderd the fleet to fire and nothing happened so you may have to order each ship individually then.

I think I have solved it!

I took a small fleet against a borg cube. I transported to each ship but before disabling engines etc I went to green alert then back to red alert on each ship.

Set up everything as normal. Then ordered the fleet to attack my target. Was a delay of a few seconds but they all did. But so hard trying to capture them all firing but I took some screenies which I'll post in the other thread

Are you remembering to press 'p' and cycle through the placements using the 'select next' and 'select  previous' tabs?

Tryed to get ships to fire in the edit mode. Somehow after i got the ship to fire, i cant get rid of the target field (where the cursor is). I think i have to unselelect the target befor a hit the edit mode, but dont know ho to do.
