PM me if you want it an I'll send it your way.

I am still getting my resources back together, but don't forget the Righteous bridge. I will do the environmental textures and work on lighting and then see if I can't send it to Bones to retouch the LCARS to match the live-action game.

with some heavy "reconstruction" add model replacing/adding, you could transform the prommie bridge to the nova bridge :P

How about klingon and romulan shuttles , or the Phoenix warp ship cockpit . OH one last the JJ enterprise bridge.

How about klingon and romulan shuttles , or the Phoenix warp ship cockpit . OH one last the JJ enterprise bridge.

JJEntBridge? Aaaargh  :banghead:  Not sure good enough for that yet  :)  And I prefer James Clyne's concept Iowa Bridge anyway http://www.jamesclyne.com/index.php (http://www.jamesclyne.com/index.php)
which became the Kelvin and Maru simulator bridges.

Here's logic behind projects so far:
Rotarran - canon Klingon bridge missing in BC (and something I personally wanted); taking partially completed mesh and developing through to ingame model to acquire experience.
Warbird - canon Romulan bridge missing in BC; remodelling existing bridge
Runabout - canon Fed bridge missing in BC (once Newman took his model to Excalibur); remodelling existing bridge
PDW NX - remodelling existing bridge to new era and look.

As you all know, bridges take a lot more time and intricacy than ships (no offence to all the great ship makers out there  :) ).  So if I'm going to develop further, need to be sure bridges are genuinely in demand.  The bridge poll suggested Fed and Rom bridges, with Shuttles just behind, as most popular. So that should be shortlist...

OH, nice, the Iowa is good looking

Post by: Billz on May 06, 2010, 04:55:17 PM
Seeing as how you have a PDW NX bridge in the works, does that mean that you have a version of it saved in its old NX form?

Would be great to see an updated NX ENT bridge with consoles that are actually fully built and not half built like in the old version. :D
Title: Re: BRIDGE WIPs
Post by: Morgan on May 06, 2010, 05:10:34 PM
The Nova bridge would probably be the next logical step. I remember you said you had been experimenting with it anyways. That and the Olympic (Ambassador remodel) are the only major Federation bridges that are missing that I can think of.
Title: Re: BRIDGE WIPs
Post by: Bren on May 06, 2010, 09:04:24 PM
I suggest remodelling the Sov bridge. The original game one is a crappy box of polies. The 3E one is the same, with a few modifications. The floorplan is... reasonable, so the aesthetics could be upgraded without messing up the paths of the characters too much for SP and the Extras. Could be pretty complex, though.

These are absolutely gorgeous, Lurok, but I have one question:

Viewpoint is centre bridge like the Runabout.

Wasn't the runabout a split-screen? It looked like that on the outside, certainly. (I admit to not watching as much DS9 as the rest of you. *grin*)

I could package up T6 beta and upload if enough interest.
Lol do you really have to ask that question?  :D

I assume neither have klaxons?
Not that I'm aware of, as far as I know only the Delta Flyer, Runabout, and Type 9 had klaxons heard on TV. If you like I have a red alert sound I extracted myself from DS9 that you could use for this or your Runabout set.

Here ya go Lurok. There's a brief half-second of barely audible background music towards the end of each alarm but it's hardly (if at all) noticeable in-game.

Breaking news: Sean has offered help on chair anims when has free moment, so can hopefully complete TWOK and other bridges if successful.  And possibly will pass on unfinished bridges.
that is great news :D
Sean and his girlfriend just had a baby boy recently so no doubt his time is stretched tight lol
perhaps youll be able to sort out the red alert issue also?

in either event, it is so good to hear youll be able to get some assistance and advise from one of the elite bridge modders :)

contact John (LJ) over at Excalibur forums - he is the one from BCS:TNG who made WalkFX and im sure he'll have some ideas...

Tried rescaled bigger but scale didn't 'feel' right.  Too roomy.
Quote
This class was widely used during the 2360s by Starfleet Academy, and were often the cause of "class-2 claustrophobia" for the cadets who served aboard them, as they were, according to B'Elanna Torres, "fast, maneuverable, but not built for comfort." Tom Paris added that "they used to shoehorn half a dozen cadets into one of these things for weeks at a time," adding, "you did not want to be around when they opened up that airlock." (VOY: "Drone")
 Memory Alpha.

So keeping smaller size for moment. But that means no walkarounds. Sorry folks  :(  Not that there's great deal to see, lol.

As compromise, I've reset viewpoint to tactical seat so it feels like you're in co-control of craft.   I'll try and adjust offbridge crew so player viewpoint goes to forward controls.

I've also tried adjusting viewscreen to wraparound as there'd been some discussion about this (out of interest, where did all posts go?).   Almost works, (see pic)  but as we all realised BC just not designed to use wraparound as image distorts.    What I'm considering as compromise is to 'darken' the side windows with texture using reflection of cockpit interior.... once i've lightmapped it  :)    Could look quite nice.

So, on to lightmapping and adjusting set.

Sounds (and looks!) like a good idea to me, mate! You could possibly add some light refraction effects or something, but if you aren't happy with how that turns out, you could always borrow window plates like on the type 11 and runabout.  :D Either way, can't wait to try it out!

wow, really cant wait, and i think you should have ago on making the type 11 cockpit yourself, the one available at the moment as errors(aka incomplete model and lights not changing when at different alerts) anyways extremely well dont on these, i love em!!

IIRC the current T11 set (That I use frequently) is complete. I've never noticed anything missing, and am never in a shuttle when I'd need red alert so...

im saying if you look at screenshots of the type 11 interior from insurection there are differences, and there are holes in the model in the wall next to each door behind the lights. and the lights near the doors arent completed.

The modelling on the type 9 cockpit set is superb! Your skills have improved greatly! I hope you give the runabout bridge a second pass and bring it up to these standards :)

Are those LCARS textures borrowed from somewhere? I think I see a reflection of the Intrepid bridge in one of the monitors.

Superb work!

Lurok91 your work is brilliant. I am just wondering if one of the Exclaibur team having come knocking at your door. I would use most of your bridges as they are now, I am really looking forward to the type 6. And I always use the type 11 cockpit at red alert with fleet of them against a big ship.

No, Jimmy means the Active Lcars mod. I think it's part of Bridge Plugin.

It enables texture swapping on shield status displays on the bridge (and I think lots more, too), check out the Enterprise-A bridge for an example, the status display on the helm console's central pillar is rigged.

I thought the refit bridge (from Generations film; has extra crew stations at side)  was included in KM (there'll be bridge script files named GalaxyRefit) but in case not, here's link:

 All textures working/included?
it appears everything work very well

Is the plugin suitable? If not, explain why.
does seem so, I had no troubld finding [though it was titled Amar Bridge]

Do the sound effects work? If not, please report which don't.
Sound effects appear good, although no Light change when activated  Red Aleart [Not Problem]

 Good points.
looks like the klingon bridge of the Amar ought to be

 Bad points.
there was one other extra [see pic]

Also need to add links to required bridges

Thanks for feedback, guys.  EXACTLY kind of thing need.

Re: extra crewperson...wasn't sure whether to keep them (and make a station for them) or delete.   Left in to gauge feedback from you guys.  Obviously the original Amar has a lot of side crew you don't really see onscreen but too much to put all in  :banghead:   So that one other was concession.  I can live with or without.

Oh yes, no red alert state.  I could script one in, but you only saw Amar in dark/red alert (I assume) in TMP so I made that the default.  Wouldn't really know what green looks like.   Thing I really miss not being able to script in is hazy smoke  :)

So it was intended to be on BCF now? (I spotted it in the latest files section. And it's a damn fine bridge. I've been waiting for some bridge other than the ST3 BoP or the Rotarran when I fly a K't'inga. I hum the music from TMP when I play it. *grin*)

Was just curious to see how Sean's v4 Defiant looked ingame, seeing as 90 per cent done bar animations and fixes.  Had to readjust axis to match the current v3 defiant nif.   From pics can see obvious changes,  and anims that need to change.  Bridge is less wide and richer darker colours.  Obvious model adjustments (helm, consoles, chairs etc).  Once anims and other fixes done for this, should be easily applied to Sao Paulo variant.

Looks fine to me??

If you were to tweak anything, I'd say you should tweak the light fittings in the pillars between the crew stations. In the show, the lights were flush with the pillars, not inflated out like in Sean's model.

It's still a MASSIVE, HUGE, GINORMOUS improvement over the previous Defiant bridge model!

MERRY CHRISTMAS, BTW!
And thank you graciously for all the lovely gifts, Lurok!

i think its just the camera angle, i think it looks fine. IF you look at the current defiant bridge that we have, now thats a huge helm. i was thinking it looks small lol

It may be angle.  This helm def a lot smaller, canon.

Lights always bugged me on v3 model but assumed was canon.  You're right - from screencaps more flush than these look.  But v4 less pronounced. And toning down illumination may help.  I'll post new bridge pics later.

So resized lights, now as flush as can make. Having strange lightmap issue with captain console stand and bars under cap chair and helm (have to check with Sean).  Apart from that, principal anims done.   Have to redo extras so now move to back to Defiant.   Then red alert state.

just a quick anecdote on the canon lighting:
Did you know that they never installed proper red alert/cloaked lighting on the set?  The original plans called for the lights to stay the same all the time but it was decided later to change them when at red alert/cloaking for effect.  whenever we see the lights change on the defiant on TV, any dimming effect was done in post, then they would cut and replace all the lightbulbs on the set.

Current WIPs:  NX revamp at beta stage; if testers ok, then just needs season variants to do.   Valdore ingame ok and just needs finishing off but sort of kicked into long grass for mo (unless I get mobbed by Rommie fans  :))

Next up:  started Delta Flyer and can probably have done within a month.  Planning at moment to do all interior, i.e, both cockpit and rear cabin.

Considering two other 'bridges'  based on Wiley's recent  creations - a fighter cockpit for Valkyrie, and cabin for Sovereign yacht. Please feel free to state any preferences as will give me idea of interest.  Valkyrie would be single-seater Type9 interior variant with all crew off-bridge (could do pretty quickly from my existing shuttle interior models),   yacht probably a Runabout/Defiant hybrid in style.   I assume there's no canon bridge sets for either craft?   But any links for reference material welcome  :)

apparently they redressed the runnabout cockpit for the yacht as well as the other shuttle in the movie. they then later redessed that set for the bajoran fighter in the ds9 episode: shadows and symbols except they elongated it.

had i had gotten my nebula bridge released this and the bajoran redress were going to be my next bridge.

Clearing out some file stuff found some old retextures might amuse folk or prompt some ideas:

GalRefit to 25th Century variant/blue Bones lcars

GalRefit to Akira: had posted earlier version pics but this with better lcars and sidepanels that now mapswap at red alert.

Yamaguchi to DW/DS9-era small bridge:  not sure why did this one but thought was fun experiment.  The small floor panel at front shows shield (I think, or hull) strength and reduces as sustain damage.

MirandaTMP to JJ Kelvin-style:  this was an experiment to try out Trek XI uniforms, textures and lcars before creating new Kelvin bridge.

Also noticed viewing Insurrection screencaps that there is a brief Ent-E yacht bridge shot when Data piloting yacht during end attack on Sona.  Looks like they used the runabout/type 11 (yet again) with minimal redress.  So even if the guy who did video above isn't exactly canon, it's a heck sight prettier  :)

In meantime, playing around with a few kitbashes.  A PDW excelsior-size refit for Bones' Krakow etc and maybe Solaris.   A FC nova/intrepid mash-up...probably work for Sabre/Norway style ships.

I totally fell in love with the Venture bridge. I think I'll take my time with completing my early TNG WIP and wait till this one is released. What I tried to do will certainly look perfect on the Venture, much more better than on the ENT-A bridge.

The Sovereign-style chairs and helm/ops consoles do look good on this bridge, Lurok.  I'm definitely feeling the coloring as well.  To be honest though, I'm a little unsure about removing the wooden rail in favor of the Sovereign-style tactical consoles.  Don't get me wrong, I can see that you're trying to differentiate what you're trying to accomplish with this project from the Galaxy bridge that we all know and love, but this particular change just seems a little forced where it doesn't belong, and that can have a big impact.

I hope I'm not coming off as rude, I'm just trying to give you some honest feedback.  At the end of the day it's your project and I'll always support your efforts here at BCC.  Keep up the good work man!  :)

I honestly like the Relativity bridge. It has an unusual looking layout compared to the "standard" designs. Thou, I do find that having a transporter pad on the bridge, might be a gross security risk (not that -not- having a transporter pad has stopped hostiles before from beaming onto the bridge).

Looking good there, Lurok91.

Title: WIPs - FLC Concept bridge
Post by: Lurok91 on January 04, 2012, 05:28:15 AM
This is a WIP based on wanting to create new bridge module/layout and also use Robert/Explorer and Deif's excellent post-Nem FLC lcars.  Obviously as WIP there's still various things to fix and fiddle, and need to model ceiling,  but I like how it's shaping up.  Although designed to showcase flc lcars it could be retrofitted to FC or Nem era.

More on FLC lcars here (http://www.lcarsc.com/showthread.php/581-Just-another-FLC-(Future-LCARS-Concept))

looks nice. is it designed for a special class or "just" a generic bridge?

Haven't got that far yet  :)  These are just Max renders.  Have to think about that one...

in all honesty, i could picture the overhead light as well as the vertical white lights turning red, and horizontal flashing red alert signals on the side-stations and back station (sort of like on the nova bridge)...

I can see connection.  As for red alert, def thinking centrelight and consoleredbars.  Columns was more thinking dimming like Defiant and Nem Sov, but all up for grabs when get ingame  :)

I suggest not making the whole center light go red.  Maybe just the outer edge, not the center of it.

Agreed on the outer edge, think that would look great.

Really like the whole shape, especially the recess in the back of the bridge, a nice touch.

The helm console looks blocky to me, something more reminiscent of the Defiant helm, the basic shape of it, would fit the rest of the design.

The access hatches (at least i think that is what they are) above the side work stations could use a bit of toning down, Like the shape but maybe flatten them down about half. something to consider. :)

Just an awesome job so far on all of these bridges.

lightmapped VentureTMP and Akira ingame.  Made minor changes to both bridges.

Akira: slightly reduced size of bridge, removed front turbos (seemed defunct).  Like changes so will stay.  Initial lightmapping perhaps a tad dark (this is normal state so red alert would be very dark) but again quite like look/feel.

Venture:  moved turbodoors from sides to rear and Science and XO to sides. Think works better and makes more lineage from TMP to TNG.

They do.  Same as on Intrepid/Voyager bridge.

Here's Venture with new red alert WIP.  Was trying similar idea to NemBridge by keeping animated lcars but changing to red lightmap at alert.  Looks nice ingame but should let testers have final say.

Venture and NemBridge more or less done.  Akira still needs anim work. Once I get Valkyrie/Type9/Flyer feedbacks all in (Jimmy and Nero, that's you  :P)  and those ready for release, I'll get Venture and NemBridge ready for testing.

I was browsing the bridges and uniform mods because of a beta,, and I'd like to ask Lurok something.

is there a note somewhere in one of your threads about the Character sets you're using?  I'd like to get some alt faces and Characters for variety.

KCS - you might mean this (http://bc-central.net/forums/index.php/topic,8349.0.html)?

Here's Akira at red alert.  Also experimenting with red map swap like Venture.

More or less.  I skimmed the whole thread.  looks like it's been dead a while, though.

I'd settle for the new Bodies, personally. I'd try some tweaking, myself, but I hear you have to have Max 3 for them to work.

I'm glad I have a bridge retex under my belt at least.

Well I last posted in it about a month ago, and that's only because completed initial phase and back to working on bridges.  The new crews/uniforms all ready and done and might post out for betatest soon, so let me know if want to be one of those.

You only need Max 3 to export nif, but I've also found  it easier to rig biped and skin in Max 3 as well.

Aside from being busy with the first week of the semester I'm also rebuilding my BC install to see if it can be a little less crash-happy (I'm building from scratch so it's a little time consuming...)

Still tweaking various bits of VentureTMP mesh and textures.  Realigning off-set cons, smaller liftdoors etc. So still wip...

NEW RED ALERT EFFECT

Tried a small experiment as alternative to full red-lm swap, which is to have individual TMP red alerts turn on.  Made two small panes, one black, one black set to transparent,  and placed full black over LCAR, with black-transparent as map swap in autoload script. Think the effect is obvious from pics.

Title: Re: WIPs - Akira & VentureTMP

So tried another experiment, this time on Akira. Knowing how centre console works, and interested in trying to get full animated red lcars ingame, made duplicate lcar walls with separate red alert textures and then animate into position on red alert.  If you're looking you'll see the transition (though it's less than half a sec) but at least works.  Still some kinks to iron out (will post about in scripting) but once sorted more or less done.

Finishing off VentureTMP bridges somehow got sidetracked into doing ST5-style Miranda (I guess coz uses similar layout and anims) based on Luke/Interceptor's colour scheme.  Watching ST5 & 6 recently noticed that console walls not as high current bridges so have shortened height of this bridge accordingly.  Makes it more cosy.

Once I get feedback from current testers, and get this new bunch out, will take a break from bridges to concentrate on DS9 and SP game.   So current release list looks like:

Delta Flyer (need final testers feedback)
v2 Valkyrie/Venture/Type9 (ditto)

to betatest and release:
VentureTMP & TNG bridges
Akira
LateTMPMiranda

That's really nifty! Excellent outside-the-box thinking on the map-swap alternative.
