...not sure if I can survive another game-to-movie adaptation ... JJ is really good at what he's doing but filming HL is a fragile business ;) after all it's one of the best games series ever made, as a game it's brilliant... as a movie it might become another flop like Tomb Raider, Max Payne or ... Doooom ... the list goes on and ends with two utter schlocks based loosly upon game - Mario Super Bros and the worst out of the worst : FARCRY :D
Let's assume, games are the best when they are simply games ;)

but none the less it won't stop people from seeing dollar signs, and exploiting the fanboys.
i could see jj doing a HL movie, the grit, scifi, and overall scene of the franchise would be right his alley, but it would have to be done right. RIGHT.
I'm curious as to the true reasons of this partnership other than content sharing.

I think I could believe HL movie would be really cool if and IF only JJ would make it (Fringe, Lost, Star Trek etc. speaks for themselves - JJ could make it right )

The only problem I foresee with either Half-Life or Portal adaptations is the same one I see with The Legend of Zelda. The primary protagonist is seen as the silent hero or, in the case of Chell, a mute(though the validity of this claim is up in the air). While that works for a video game, it won't work for a film, and if they give the character the wrong kind of voice, it can kill the film.

A "safer" game to maka a movie of, would be Mass Effect :) few touch ups to the plot, cut the story a bit and there you go cool sci-fi trilogy ;) but I doubt JJ would pick that one up since he will coop with Valve ...
Thank God it's JJ who would eventually be responsible for HL movie (if one is to be made) and it's not Uwe Boll :D

Mass Effect is supposedly already getting a movie. Some say it's not based on the Normandy, some say it is, and the ones that say it is have ruined it by saying that they're not considering Seth Green to be Joker. :idk:
But yes, better JJ than Uwe Boll. Or the schmucks that screwed up the Mario movie.

IF they make a Half-Life 2 movie, I could see it as a prequel, taking place before Half-Life 2 so you don't see Gordon, other then maybe flash backs or pictures.
Maybe how Eli, Kleiner and Barney escaped BM, got to Europe, etc.
Or have it focus on the side characters during the gap between Nova Prospkt and Follow Freeman. Or hell, have take plce on completely different part of the planet without any of the main Characters other then Breen since he is the 'leader' of Earth.
I'm not sure how you would do a Portal movie, again probably a prequel.
