Starting to make a CG car as I wanted to do something non scifi. Now can you guess what it is at the moment?
-
Italdesign Cala
Mitsubishi Eclipse
Porshe 911
-
no lol
-
some kinda tuner car by the looks of it.
honda civic?
-
DB9?
-
ooh, aston martin. that's a good guess.
-
DB9?
Give that man a Walther PPK, correct answer
-
GREATEST CAR EVER
-
I was thinking it was the DB9, but the gap for the head lamp in that wasjig looked a little too recessed, but then again the lamp isn't in the gap
Oh well
-
Yup, i just came home to check my hot wheels collection.. lol.
Cool car indeed, it was marked in my list ;)
-
update, I am taking it slow as I am not used to do CGI
-
perfect for a secret agent.
I say you use (when it's done) glossy night-blue paint.
*two thumbs up for a nice starting*
-
its a pain as the reference shots are limited and the one I have doesn't line up so I am having to judge by photos alot more

Hey, you have a front one!
I only have a good side one and a top one that is from another year.. hehe.
Looks cool, mate.

Awesome. Just plain awesome. I love Aston Martin, especially the DB9. Can't wait to see more updates!
-
Looking good mate :)
-
hard isnt it hooker. good work, take it nice and slow and make sure you dont get no tri's in your mesh 8)

totally agreed :)

Keeping myself busy as we think my brother's gf has gone into the early stages of labour and has gone to hospital. Anyway here is an update
-
congrats bro, again nice work. i would love to see a wireframe on this. ive done alittle car modeling myself so i might be able to help alittle if you get stuck anywhere.
-
Shaping out pretty nice, mate.
-
here is the wireframe
-
Nice, wonder if this will be for 3d art or for some racing game like NFS ?
-
nice work

it will 3d art, don't play any racing games on the pc, just the xbox360
-
nice wiring, i take it you're box modelling it, if so, perhaps you should try some subdivision modifier (when i need one, i prefer turbosmooth) and see how it looks.
-
I didn't do it by box modelling i did it by splines

Better than, increase the interpolation and get rid of the sharp edges, to some slightly smoothed beziers.
-
Yeah I am doing it, just taking my time ;)
-
watch the curvature on the sides, the lights and the bumper
it will be better if you had both the schematics and a photo or a scale model, so you can see where it's smooth and where the edge is marked
so, once you finish, you can render (or photograph?) something like this
-
Or this. 8)
-
update, sorted the smoothing out alot today
-
nice work there cpthooker. i see in the wireframe you have some 3 sided polys, you really need to make them 4 sided or the reflections when you add a paint material will look strange in them area's. it shouldnt be too much work to fix. great work with the splines tho, i always boxmodel; takes longer but if done correct has the same effect as splines.
-
yeah I am fixing them
-
glad to hear. just out of interest what rendering engine you going to use? vray? brazil? or mental ray? if its mental ray i might be able to point you in the direction of a good tutorial for render/scene/material setup so you can get a render kinda like these.
-
i have vray, but not thinking about that till the model is done thanks

Vray rocks. :arms:
-
I didn't say that it didn't. Just getting the model sorted before thinking about VRAY
