So I do admit that I'm now to installing mods. I do have some mods on the game but there are some that will not show. There are some mods like the Abandon Ship, and the HE Turn that are not show on the mutator area. Could some one help me understand or give me a couple of step to do? Thank you!
Oh and I am a little confuzed on the diference betwwen the ZIP files and the RAR files. I've just been geting the ZIP files.
I do have BCMI.

they showup in-game in the menu for the XO (second-in-command, executive officer)
-
I know that, but the thing is that they are not showing on the XO list.
-
Right, those mods are activated through the QB Autostart mutator.
As in the difference between zip and rar, those are just 2 common compression formats.
Another one used is ace and 7z (7zip). But zip and rar are the most common formats on BCFiles. WinRar (not free as such) can open most of those (unsure about 7zip, but mods in that format are usually distributed through self extracting programs).
-
I'm not sure if I have the QB Autostart then. Is there a link to it?
-
Yes, I found it through the List of Mods sticky in Mods & Downloads:
http://defiant.homedns.org/~erik/STBC/QBautostart/QBautostart-current.zip
-
I already had it at the begining. Are there sertain places to put some ofthe mods? Iv'e just been putting them in my BC folder.
-
Define "Putting them in my BC folder".
You mean, you put the individual files in the same folder as stbc.exe?
-
The folder is in the C drive, under Programe Files, and under activision. Then I put my mods in the Bridge Commander file.
-
and you overwrite the files it asks to right?
-
I do. but even if I say yea to all, some will not go on the game. Is there any prgrams I might need for certain mods??
-
you do activate the mutators??
-
Especially the first 3?
Also, what mods are we talking about?
-
Yes I do sctivate all the mutators. There sre some mods like Abandon Ship, Borg ships, the galaxy class pack and most of the mods on the *list of Mods* sticky.
-
That don't appear?
Mods such as Borg ships, Galaxy Class Pack usually don't need a mutator and will show up when the 3rd mutator is activated.
Abandon Ship is a QBA mod, so it will be active once the QBA mutator is active.
-
hmm wait do those ships come with a scripts\custom\ships file??
another thought can you get us a console report and maybe a pic of your bc folder??
-
Here's my whole BC folder. The top on the left
-
I'm not to sure you'll be able to see it... I have the pic from PhotoImpact.
-
I'm a bit suprised (actually, quite a lot), you installed it to "C:\"?
While it shouldn't pose any direct problem, it actually complicates a couple of things (IMO).
-
yes, it is in the C drive. What are some complications?
-
Well, I suppose it's just a highly unlikely location for any application (although, I suppose this is just a convetion or a tradition). Normally, no-one installs a location to C:\ (except Windows of course).
Right, in one of the screenshots (the first) there is a directory called Abandon Ship, did you copy that out of the zip (or rar?) and put it directly there?
If so, copy the scripts and data (and maybe sfx) directories from that one, and put it in C:\
-
Ya, the abandon ship was a zip, then i unzipped it and put it under the BC folder. I've been doing it to all of my downloads.
If so, copy the scripts and data (and maybe sfx) directories from that one, and put it in C:\
I'm confused on that statment. Is it not aready in C:\ ?
LOL I'm so stupid LOL
-
you copy the script and data folders from inside the abandon ship folder into the c folder so they overwrite the other script and data folders there so the mod is now in BC.
-
I've tried it with the Abandon Ship, Assimilated Ship an the Distress Call and they're not working. I copied all of the things in the folder and it's still not working.
-
once you did that did you turn on their mutators...
-
there wern't any...
-
there wern't any...
Please define further.
There weren't any because there are no mutators?
Or no new mutators?
Or something else I didn't think of right now?
-
There wern't any mutator buttons, no ships, no buttons on the XO list. NOTHING
-
ooook so no mutator buttons under the config menu in bc...
-
nope
-
ok so when you installed BCMI it installed the foundation right...
-
yes it did.
-
Then you have a button called Mutators with atleast 3 mutators.
-
I do. I'll get a screen shot of the mutator page.
-
Here it is
-
I guess that explains why you don't have things like Abandon Ship, you don't have QuickBattle Autostart installed.
-
I thought I had it installed, but now I do and things are working now!
Thanks everyone!
