I knew the EntF had that problem, but, the defiant? dunno...
looks like it's caused by the BC engine not handling the extreme detail. happens often in the dominion cruiser too.

can you post the EntF ship file (scripts\ships\) here?

An old vid card of mine used to do the same thing.

It's an effect called "tearing" and it basically means that the vid card for some reason or another is being over taxed. That doesn't mean that it will stop working it just is getting hammered by the screen display/objects/textures etc...

It is often caused (this is one reason of several) by the vid memory getting near its usable limit. Try increasing the AGP or PCIx aperture size in the BIOS, this helps reduce this issue.

First of all, no need to swear in topic titles.
We will get to your problem as soon as someone finds time.

Ok, this problem is caused, as the others have said, by overtaxing your vidcard.
Also possible is that you aren't giving it enough power. Or if your power suply isn't good enough for your computer.
Another possible solution would be to delete the vox files.

What was wrong with: "My ships suddenly starting looking all over the place"?

I got those problems when the ship is exploding, but I know when you drill the hull with weapon fire, the engine adds polygons, so how is it possible that the card gets overloaded when the ship starts to lose polygons (breaking up) and not when you damage it?
I can damage the Ent-F and also the dominion cruiser and even zoom in that damage without having that "tearing", but when it explodes, blast!, all the screen gets black until I move the camera away.

I only had this problem before i switched a power supply on models that weren't that nicely done (i.e. 9of9, P81, Kevo, etc.), that where thrown together from a bunch of objects.

Lol, I remember that pic!!

I only ever had the problem on my old Radeon 9700, deleting the vox files fixed it.

Linkage! Now!!!!!1111oneone

But yeah, you may want to consider getting more ram. As it looks like BC isnt getting enough of it anymore.

It's a graphics card thing, so not a ram thing.
If there isn't enough ram, it goes to the swap page, and if there isn't enough virtual ram, Windows will complain and quit BC.
