This model isn't even on SFM yet, so you get to see my latest project before anyone else you lucky, lucky people. :P
Naturally, the shots show a little bit of progess. I've got into a bad habit of using modeller to do some tweaking while I'm rendering (and running the internet and media player). It can't be good for the computer...

Thats quality stuff :) looking great

Any man who smooths his edges when creating even supposedly straight cut objects deserves respect.
-
armonds, with your talent, how come you never make ships for BC? Just out of curiosity.
-
Lol, armonds models are waaaay too high poly. :D Looking great.
On the subject, my Lunar Class is pretty much done. I won't post it in here, but I think it was Legacy or Starforce offered to port it to BC.
You should do a Thunderhawk armonds, would be good to have in BC.

I don't make mods for several reasons.
1) I'm appalling at texturing. Although I'm getting better at photomanipulation through various software, I can't quite grasp textures very well.
2) I never do anything "canon" because people heavily criticise accuracy. I don't want to be told that my deflector on the Galaxy is too wide by half an inch or that my nacelles are too long. Constructive crit I can take, pissing about over precision I can't, because frankly, it's not important. I stick to either non-canon or 40K, where people really don't care too much about that sort of thing.
3) I don't play much BC anymore so there's no real incentive for me to do anything. Though I'm starting to come back around to Star Trek designs, there's been some interesting ones pop up on SFM recently.
4) There are an excess of modellers out there who are really good and not enough people who can code the mods and texture the models. The modelling is the real easy part of it. So there's no reason to start on a model just to find that there's no one available to do the textures or script it. Although I could look in to doing those myself, it's probably not worth it.

cool stuff, armonds :)

Judging by the Maltese crosses on the side can I safely assume that this is a black templar's land raider?

Actually, I completely disagree. I think it's entirely worth it to learn to texture and script your own models. In the end, you can proudly say, "yeah, I totally did all of that", without having to rely on others. There's a certain freedom to it, and as human beings, freedom is something that's generally a really good thing. You think the Mithra's been an easy process for me? Hell, I wanted to just drop the stupid thing and totally quit on many occasions. But, looking at all that I've learned and accomplished, I must say that if I did simply quit... I'd be kicking my own ass right now.
I can't script or texture if my life depended on it, either, but as a life experience and for the sake of my own credibility, I'm going to learn. There are a TONN of people here on BCC and elsewhere who are extremely talented and knowledgeable. You know what the best part is? All these people... all these talents and all this individuality... they're up for sharing. You can, like myself, learn SO much, if you bite the bullet and never, ever give up, and don't be afraid to ask questions.
Eh... I feel like I've just ranted useless bull crap that people already know. :/ Nice model, in any case. Keep up the good work.

Hint's in the title: Crusader :P
That just means it has increased transport capacity and multi-meltas and hurricane bolters instead of a las cannon and a twin linked heavy bolter

You forgot to mention the grenade launchers, it essentially allows you to charge Sword Bretheren Terminators with grenade effects. The Crusader was originally for the Black Templars only :P Although the most recent edition has lifted the restrictions allowing Crusaders to be taken by any chapter.

I love the W40k universe :D
Well done
-
Did a little more.
Another reason I haven't done many in game models is that it's a different technique and challenge to do in game models. For a start you need to optimise the crap out of the mesh, something I really can't.

sweet.

Should I upload a photo or two of my actual minature?

You're one of these dirty front sponson types aren't you!? You should be ashamed!

WHO THE FUCK PUTS DOORS IN FRONT OF MACHINE GUNS!!!

Khorne berserkers :P

WHO THE FUCK PUTS DOORS IN FRONT OF MACHINE GUNS!!!
The same guys who think that balancing a tank on top of two long legs that can be taken out by any RPG, suddenly shifting surface, or rope, and happen to be its only means of propulsion, full of hydraulics, balancing moving parts and not easily repairable in the battlefield (also known as "mechs") is a good idea?
-
That's why titans only come in 'Massive.' Big enough to have massively armoured legs.
Dreadnaughts also have armoured legs, but are still weaker than an MBT.
Sentinels really are flimsy and this is represented in their rules.
I'm sure the servitors driving the LRC are well programmed enough not to fire on their own emerging troops. The front doors place the assaulting unit closer to the enemy. And terminators could walk through a hail of bolter fire unscathed anyway.
-
Anyway, it's not problem as the Hurricanes are going in front of the doors.
-
thats freaking awesome, look at the details...
-
*drools*
-
Finished off the hurricanes bar the skulls on the side. I'm currently doing the roof section that I'm missing and will have a new render shortly.
-
oooh wow awesome :D
-
Got the render done.
-
whoah... fantastic!
-
Amazing work so far, Armondikov. Beautiful.
-
Assault cannon, check.
-
Thanks to some guys at SFM for showing me what I did wrong...
-
ah yes, that looks better.
-
And something to improve the presentation.
