I got bored (again) and started to work on a crossover wallpaper for Trek/BSG. It's only half an hour's work so far, and the proportions are waaaaaaaaaay out of perspective, and about a thousand other things are wrong, too. Still... here you go.
What do you think? Dear gods i'd like some suggestions!
-
The Bad: I don't like the ship positioning it seems so, generic. Also, fire in space?
The Good: Ship models and textures look really good. Plus the blue glow gives me a nice feeling inside.
-
agreed with that. the models look pretty neat!. try adding the phaser on photoshop or something. not directly in the rendering
-
This isn't a render. I've taken these images from the web, and added the phaser beam and light using Photoshop. I've done an updated version.
I intend to change the second ship completely, perhaps choose an image at a different angle.
-
the enterprise looks 2x the size of pegasus - is it meant to be in the foreground? if so try tapering the phasers so the beam gets thinner as it goes towards pegasus
-
Actually they're supposed to be next to each other... obviously i've blown the proportions waaaaay out of perspective. I was thinking of changing the Pegasus to something like a pack of Raptors, or maybe even Colonial One, therefore seeming a bit more in proportion.
-
Fail for disproportionate ship sizings as well.
-
I was gonna mention that the Pegasus looks about one tenth of her actual size. Anywho, interesting work you have here. :]
-
I've scrapped this, and i'm going to start again. Best way, really. It's just like with modelling.
-
You had a decent concept going, but sometimes it's best to try again from scratch, using what you've learned to do it better.
-
ha... I think I know this better than most. xD or so I tend to think.
-
Well, i've started again, and this time i've actually rendered Models in Max (credits in above picture). The scale is a bit better, but it's still missing... something.
-
Phasers? Looking good though!
-
Phasers?
Lol, O'Neill quote?
I'll get right on them.

LOL!!! Not intentionally!
How about some SG wallpapers :D
-
Hehe, in good time... when I actually get good.
-
Do they really need to fight? I think that looks pretty good.
-
I can do several variants, then could poll for the best one.

Perspective? Max's default pespective in the "perspective" viewport isn't exactly how the human eye sees things.
Try using a camera and selecting the 24mm "lens" on it.
I see you have used, motion blur, but I think that in really big, nearby objects (as opposed to a mountain far away), a camera/eye would still not be able to focus on both the front and the back of a battlestar. You can try playing with depth field a bit.
