Title: Elysion SFX Problems
Post by: Billz on December 28, 2008, 07:54:31 PM
Can anyone who else has this, http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/file/Elysion_Class;96030 figure out how to get the phaser sounds working?

I've tried changing the nameof the sound effct in the hardpoint file and I have tried to make my own soundpack, both of which have been unsuccesful.

I've been tinkering around with scripts to get them working properly on various ships and mods for a good few years now but this one has me stumped.

 :?

EDIT: Sound effects for the torpedos and phasers are included in with the ship so I have the sound effects required installed.

Make sure no other plugins are also defining that sound name.

Do the sounds work on their own?

Yep. I don't think this would make a difference but they are in wav format instead of mp3, if thats important.

BC is tricky when it comes to sounds.
There are a couple of threads about the specific quirkyness that BC needs.

I don't know enough about how sounds are set up in BC to make anything of use. I am still a n00b at making soundpacks, lol.

Here are the Elysions original weapon sounds, soundpack and hardpoint files. Just incase you or anyone else is kind enough to fix them for me.

I'm afraid I'm no sound person.

I'll move this to modding, it's mostlikely they will know the answer there.

Funny is that sounds work for some people, yet don't work for some.

Although I must be honest, I noticed a pretty silly mistake on my end in BCSMC and I didn't notice it even on BCUT :(

However as soon as I learned about it I fixed it in the update which I made for BCUT.

1. So in the HP replace the sound names to point to the custom sound which comes with the ship mod (which you said you tried doing)
2. Download updated BCUT and try creating a sound plugin with it.

If this doesn't work it could be that simply you need to re-encode the sound files.

Sorry for the late reply, wasn't around the last 2 days...

I made the sound plugin with BCSMC. Like Sovereign said, somehow the sounds work for some
people and for some not. In the beta test there were no problems with the sounds, so i didn't noticed it.

However, i have already downloaded the updated BCUT, and i will make a new sound plugin later today.

here is the new sound plugin. Also there was a little fault in the hp.
The hp didn't used the sound plugins i created. Sorry for that

@Billz: would be nice if you would test it out and report here if it worked, so
i can upload it to BC files. Maybe i will make also some alterations to the hp
while i'm at it...

Gimmie a few mintues...

EDIT: Still nothing.  :(

EDIT 2: Works now. You forgot to rename everything in the new scripts renger. Missed a phaser name in the hardpoint file and it still said 'Eysion phaser' in the sfx script. Had a sudden revelaton and fixed them both.

A. You have nothing to be sorry for. It was just a case of thinking it was done when it wasn't. The beta testers found nothing wrong so like I said, you are not to blame.

B. I don't deserve a cookie for this. Hell, I was the one to complain in the first place. If anyone deserves a cookie, its you for the awesome ship that you have provided for the community.
