i can't find the original thread I poked this in.
I know you guys have said that with ships who's polygons disappear with a hit that you should delete a "vox" nif for the ship. well, my problem seems to be the other way around. the ship in question is someone's conversion of the Galaxy QuestNSEA Protector...it doesn't HAVE a vox nif, and is the main one that has big chunks of the texture disappear. everything else, which has a vox damages normally.
anyone heard of it working in reverse?

There is/was a thread about this (search is your friend).
Do you have a link to the mod?
It's possible that the model is too complex for your computer to handle, to test this, try lowering the visible damage (or turning it off) in the Graphics options.

Something told me the thread might be a Zombie by now.
I'm handling things like the Gunslinger, the early JJprises, the Post Nemesis Romuln pack, etc with only minor slowdowns because of bulk screen projectiles. even the ship I worked on is very high poly, so it's not so huge my processor can't handle it
the file in question is now fairly ancient, crudely done for a 512, is in severe need of a clean new Retexture, etc.

this one was uploaded back in 03, and BCModed with an old version. this person may no longer exist on the net, either. oh, polygons will disappear, then floating damage textures will appear, anyway.

The model may simply damage badly, for example, the extremely detailed Babylon5 models by DamoclesX (don't sweat if you don't know/remember that modelling god, it's a long time ago) came with the instructions to turn off damage, otherwise they would crash BC.

I just put in a load of B5 ships (they're going in the can, totally annoying sounds, but I'm keeping the Battlecrab :P), and I wouldn't be suprised if one of them is from the Author mentioned. it's not a "badly damaged" situation (everything oddly works just fine). the Protector will take damage, have it's polygons disappear, then shortly thereafter, when it takes more damage, the damage texture shows up, instead (floating on nothing).

I have the feeling the model is just not built right.
