I thought I'd take a stab at mission scripting (since it seems to have died). Check it out and feedback is always welcome.

Really wanna get this working, what cube [ship] contains cube.py?

I know the c2x cube does but you can change the name of any ship easily...

do the stock KM1.0 ships work with this mission or do I have to hunt down the needed ships to play this mission?

I just checked the KM scripts for you and from what I can see you'll need to download a Soyuz (I use the C2 you won't have to rename anything) and the c2x Cube (it's named Cube, of course you can rename any one). To avoid killing multiplayer you can add everything except for the ship plug in. While that option means the correct icons won't display, you'll still be able to play the mission since all the ship scripts will be there.
I might make a version with KM ships at a later date when I get the Data lip issue figured out, but right now I'm working on figuring out that bug and moving forward with other missions, I got a couple of idea's up my sleeve to make them fun...

I already tried
renaming copying voyagercube.py in scripts/custom/ships to cube.py but had no joy with that. Is there anything else I need to do for that method to work?

Post the ship file here and I'll take a look at it.

Ok I rename a cube in scripts/ships to cube.py but still nothing happens.

Did you open the ship file and change the ship name inside the script as well?
