This lady has some curves. :D +1 cookie
-
We always like new new connies :D
-
it seems everyone is doing Constitution Class ships these days... why is that?
im not trying to sound like a jerk, i know it sounds rude and i apologize for that, but i am genuinely curious; is it some sort of one-up type thing? i dont recall ever a time in BC's history where many people (pretty much every modder) were all doing the same ships or era...
(except the Galaxy-Class rage some years back) but i am curious why everyone all of a sudden now are doing the same things? is it to do better than the one just released by someone else? or is there a new-found genuine love of the Constitution Class and/or TMP/TOS/JJ-era?
-
it seems everyone is doing Constitution Class ships these days...
And we can never have enough. :D
-
well, some modders could always do Constellations, Cheyennes, Prommies.... :angel
-
TMP ENterprise class was always my fav. Looking good so far. Cookie.
Like jimmy was saying, i would to see 24th or 25th centry ship.
-
Well I see it this way, I am an old school trekkie and prefer the 23rd Century and why I have built 5 (yes 5) differenet JJprises is that my skills have gotten better I see how bad the old one was. I am not a great fan of the 24th Century ships they just seem to be over detailed.
As for the TMP connie, it has a special place in most trekkies hearts so it is an honour to be able to try and do her justice.
I have two of my own on the go at the moment (tmp2 and jjrefit2). but unless Andrew Probert shows up and makes the ultimate version of the ship then we will have plenty of connies to choose from.
-
dont get me wrong - i am all for, and really truly deeply appreciate, anything any modder does for the community... while im not personally much a fan of TOS, TMP, JJ-era, or Ent-era ships or anything around then and may not be inclined to include any of those sorts of things in my own personal install, i am very grateful modders are still adding to the life of BC even after all this time... and clearly there are alot of people who really like those eras and ships; to each his own... and of course modders should do what they love personally and want in their own personal installs and share with everyone else - thats what modding is all about...
i ask the question because years ago, when BCU was still relatively new, it did occur where people would only mod for the sole reason to outshine the previous modder and thats not a very cool thing, IMO... someone would release something and then someone would do the same exact thing right after that (or start their own project right immediately after the other one started) only to make themselves look better than that other person; it was a sort of "competition" and that style of modding is done for all the wrong reasons, and slowly tension started building in the community...
i just was getting nervous that trend was starting up again, even if people werent aware of it, or aware they might be doing it lol
that being said, i must admit that it would be cool to see modders going off in different directions, rather than all focus on one thing or one era... personally, my install is geared to a TNG, DS9, Voyager, and Nemesis (or shortly after Nemesis) eras and it would be nice to see talented people working on those eras as well for variety; seems like DJ is the only one (and of course Wileys Excelsior pack and a few others, but not much other than that) lol :P
-
I don't think it is to outshine mostly, I think its because someone is taking a new look at it, and another modder says "I have a different idea" or "I would like it better if blah-blah was different" I think its down to personal taste
-
Jimmy might be onto something, though...even I'VE been connie tweaking today. no model modification, but a TOS style connie retrofitted with a modern Warp Core, phasers and Torpedoes.
-
Nice work mate
Jimmy quite right on not enough TNG ships at the mo.. but i am sure they are coming ;)
-
You've got my attention..... :D
just Hardpoint and minor texture tweaks. I'm trying it out on Anduril's connie, first. to see how it's gonna look, mostly. i did a quick rebadge and it's now the "USS John Lennon NCC 17016"
-
Sounds like this ship might be pretty interesting as she grows up.
---
I'd say the Connie Rage is certainly in part due to XI. For the JJ Connie, a spark of honoring the original Connie designs, and it being the ongoing forward inspiration as far as the big screen. I'm sure there will be plenty of new TNG designs coming off the drawing boards down the road though. Competition in "making the best" isn't good, even if it doesn't exist and one party thinks it does, so it is probably for the best to air such a concern to ensure the air is clear.
---
Keep up the great work on your Experiment here :)

I think I'm done with Connies for the time being. :)
-
*wears rubber chicken proof armor* The JJPrise IS honoring the TOS and TMP designs(though it favors the latter). Saucer, check; more or less straight engine pylons, check; round nacelles, check; secondary hull attached to saucer with a graceful neck, check; physical deflector dish, check. Has all the elements, just made sleeker and arranged slightly different. :P And from someone who has the art book, rest assured...it could have been MUCH MUCH WORSE. Some of the designs that they considered would've been too "futuristic" in the 24th century, much less the 23rd.
Anyways, back to this. It's good that someone's taking a fresh look at the Connie resurrection class. Can't wait to see her completed! I always thought that the Connie refit kinda got shafted since the Excelsior, Miranda, and Oberth classes continued to be used well into the 24th Century.
-
I would agree mate.. the neck and torps need reshaping to match the quality of the hull  take ur time dont rush it ;)
-
I always thought that the Connie refit kinda got shafted since the Excelsior, Miranda, and Oberth classes continued to be used well into the 24th Century.
It could be reasonable to assume that there are a few still in service, but that they've just never had the good fortune to appear on screen with the later hero ships (with the exception of the Wolf 359 Starship graveyard). I believe the USS Republic, the academy training ship that never leaves the Sol system, is a connie. Not sure if it's a refit, though.
Or perhaps Starfleet discontinued the line because Connies were always getting the snot kicked out of them (The Enterprise was crippled pretty much every time she fought in the TMP movies, and the Yorktown had to be scrapped and recommissioned as the Enterprise A after the whale probe), the class had been superceded by the Excelsior class, and the Miranda fulfilled a different role in the fleet, and remained in production.
It seems possible, in addition, that the TMP refit of the Enterprise and the Yorktown (correct me if I'm wrong, but those are the two known connie refits, right?) was made possible by the ease with which the miranda class could be mass produced, and components from that class were retrofitted onto the TOS spaceframe.
Just throwing out ideas here.
I've noticed the popularity of connie models here over the last year. I do think XI has a lot to do with it. I have my own connie overload going on around my desk. There's a TOSserprise hovering over my tower case, a JJprise on the chest of drawers to the right, and a TWOKerprise to my left. And holy hell it's gorgeous.
Anyway, I await further exploration of your design ideas, I like what you've done with the secondary hull - the curved cut-ins on either side of the deflector give it a kind of refined, almost art deco vibe.
-
Well my two favorite Trek ships have always been the Galaxy Class and the TMP connie. YOu can never have too many of either IMO.
-
Of course the real reason you never see a Galaxy, Connie, or a Sovvie on screen together is because hollywood producers think their audiences are morons and will get too confused if there is more than one hero ship on the screen at once.
-
Or perhaps Starfleet discontinued the line because Connies were always getting the snot kicked out of them (The Enterprise was crippled pretty much every time she fought in the TMP movies.
That is not a fair assesment of the refit connie. After all the damage she took in Twok was a sneak attack, and in TSFS she was already beaten up. The Yorktown or TI-Ho storys are not canon. The sneak attack in STV was due to a god loved up crew and in TUC they were up against an eniemy they could not see.
We have to acknowledge the real reason the connie never made it past the TNG (except Wold 359 which was the self desruct model from 3) is the model unlike the Excelsior, Obeth and Miranda class ship was not to be messed with and repainted. Paramount wanted to keep it intact as the Enterprise, and I read that the Stargazer was going to be a connie and the model was going to be repaint but the front office said no at the last minute. Though after they went over to CGI they could have stuck a couple in.
Anyway back on subject try and have the torp bay blend between the dorsal and the secondary hull perhaps?
-
I seem to remember that the constitution->constellation change was due to the confusion issue. They thought people would think Picard was meant to be old-Kirk or something incredibly retarded like that. Perhaps I'm imagining that.
I can well imagine lots of fanboys trying to say that the Stargazer was a recommed Enterprise A. The thought of which makes me cringe (like somebody's completely unfounded theory that the Lakota was a recommed Enterprise B...)
Anyway, yes, we've completely derailed this topic. As it is, the shape of the torp pod looks too simplified, like a primitive modified slightly and passed through the neck - it doesn't gel with the ship at large. Maybe make that geomtric curve cut in you did on either side of the sec hull a motif to be repeated through the ship? Just a suggestion.
-
I've decided to terminate work on this project. Could a moderator either delete or lock this thread. Preferably delete it. Thank you.
-
:o That was sudden! Was it our fault?
-
I decided to resume work again on the mesh, and the mesh is 98% done, just need a few windows and other small details. Thanks goes out to MeteoraFallen for helping me hammer out the impulse engine design, and Fallen_Warrior for helping me brainstorm the triangular impulse control area design.

*smacks Dawg with a rubber chicken and turns him into Star Jones' underwear* MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!! So, I take it you like where the Resurrection stands so far?
-
yes.....yes i frackin do :yay:
-
I do as well!!! Excellent work buddy!!!!
-
I'm also w/ jimmy. I prefer 24 & 25th century ships. Once in awhile, tho, something will grab my eye pre-Khitomir Accords. And this one is just that
-
This refit is intended to be circa 2420, which puts her early 25th century. And before anyone tries to start up a discussion as to why the ship couldn't be a 25th century refit, don't wanna hear it. My ship, my choice.
-
Woot I got credited for the engines! LOL. But anyways, I really have enjoyed helping this ship take shape, maybe soon there will be some pictures posted on how the ship would look with the texture layout I helped come up with. ;)
Update:
I didn't feel like double posting, so here are the concept pictures of what the textures would look like on the ship when It would be close to finished.
-
Just in case anyone asks, I had asked MeteoraFallen to post these for me, since the copies I have, some are on my laptop, and I can't use my laptop right now, and I didn't want to wait to get these concept images up.
These show off the real potential of the ship more, as you can begin to visualize what she could look like with textures.
-
it looks cool, however two things:
weve recently had a large influx of tng-era styled connies so reception might not take to well
second, the textures lack aztecing, the ship would look better if the textures had aztecing and you used a better registry font than the current.
otherwise good job
-
Like he said, they were concepts.
She looks amazing! :D
-
I do not yet know how to create aztecing...yet, but when I learn you can be reassured that these textures will look a lot better, and the font is like that because the resolution that the render was taken in, and also taking into account the distance of the ship in the render itself I had to improvise. These textures are no where near final product, they are simply placeholders to give you an idea of what it would look like should the texture be finished. It may look goofy, but It still looks good In my opinion.

I'm well aware of the work that's being done here in the BC community. I'm not exactly a new comer, and some of my kitbashes have been ported to BC over the years, including the older Resurrection, which is part of the Refit Connie Pack released by Zambie Zan several years ago. With that said, recent submissions of TNG-era Connie-like ships don't concern me, and lack of reception doesn't concern me as well either. Don't really care about that.
Second, these aren't textures. The model isn't even mapped. These are conceptual works. The aztecing isn't there because, to a degree, not needed at this point. But MeteoraFallen is working on giving these images some aztecing on the hull.
-
Like he said, they were concepts.
She looks amazing! :D
Thanks. But thanks also goes to MeteoraFallen for coming up with these concept images. As I said, they truly show off the ship's potential.
-
I'm intruiged by this. ZZ's pack still sits on my install, so a new shot at the Resurrection really has my attention! Have a cookie, dude.

Thanks. I've been wanting to remake the Resurrection for years. Ask Dawg, since he and I first worked on the concept together years ago when we both were first starting out in Trek gaming.
The Resurrection has always been my ship, my baby. I'm just glad that after 5 years, I finally have the ability to do it. Who knows what I might be capable of in another 5 years.
-
Who knows maybe In another 5 years I might just learn how to model and 1UP you XD

No worries. :-D

Let's just hope you're faster than me! :P 5 years and plenty of interruptions and I'm still struggling to find my niche! But seriously, you have my download whenever this baby comes out of drydock.

I've seen your work plenty of times, and it's good. You can do things I can't, and you were making models from scratch before me, so I think you're good. Me, I can't really map a model, at least not very well. And as for texturing, I've got no skill there, but I've got a couple friends I can ask to texture the model for me. I just need a good mapper to map the model for me.
Hopefully this ship will be done soon. No one's more eager to see her completed than I am. :-D
-
Hah, I'm trying to kick myself into trying out texturing, but I'm stubborn. :P
-
I really dig the deflector dish textures deffinatly use that texture when ya get started on the next phase and good weapons layout just the right amount of phaser coverage
-
Yep, I like the phaser layout as well. However, since originally I had a transwarp concept for the original Resurrection, I'm inclined to make one also for this new model, so that transwarp refit, as before, would have additional arrays, but I'm thinking of being more creative with the placement. However, I haven't decided if I am going to make a transwarp refit for this ship. I'll decide later on.

I made that Dish XD, Fracking awesome looking Is It not ?

:funny what a modest person you are :funny indeed that's even more than fracking awesome :) just for the deflector you get a cookie ;)
Also I love the Resurrection, tho I would tamper with the old shuttlebay a bit, maybe Sovereign like shuttle doors hm ? you also get a cookie ;)
-
I may not know how to Aztec, but I can make one hell of an MSD LOL. So here It Is, the official Master Systems Display of the U.S.S. Resurrection.
Update:
Don't you just hate It when one little "I" slips through the crack LOL.....Fixed.
-
I, Centurus, Lord Of Dark Insanity and Master Of The Rubber Chickens, approve this MSD. MUAHAAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!
-
nice MSD! you should create a few bc bridge retextures :D
there are a few MSD's i wish i could have for a few custom bridges of mine lol :P

-
Umm.. okay.. *slowly backs off from the derailed thread, keeping his back firmly against the wall* :lostit:
-
Just one thing about the MSD, there's no "i" before the "tion" bit in Constitution. Just a little thing. :)
Umm.. okay.. *slowly backs off from the derailed thread, keeping his back firmly against the wall* :lostit:
Its normal. Don't worry. :)

You sure? if he turns those rubber chickens towards me, I shall retaliate with equal force. But, enough OT, that is one mean MSD LCARS

*comes up behind Lionus, putting hand on his shoulder, and then points to a small group of my rubber chickens eating some Borg drones with habanero and jalepeno hot sauce* Trust me, you wouldn't be able to do much against my rubber chickens. :-D
But I'm real glad you like the MSD. She did come out very well. Now, if you'll excuse me, I think I see a black hole in the galactic void. *chases after it*
-
Oh, Lionus, +1. :-D
-
I am pleased to see you all like the MSD, the full details of what Is featured In It can be found over on the MeteorCreations projects page.
To Jimmy: I wouldn't mind giving you some help with those custom bridge MSDs.
To Dalek: The MSD has been fixed.
-
That MSD is very sweet, do you think i could get 1 on to coustom ones from you?
-
Ok, mesh wise, this model is done. Nothing left to make on the model, at least nothing that can't easily be compensated with using textures. I changed the mesh color to a light gray. I was getting a little sick of the blue personally and wanted a change.
Now, the search for a mapper commences.
-
Nice change, Looks a lot better than that color block mis matched children's toy look you had going on there before. XD
-
On a side note, I just found my archives of all my max files, that have been untouched by Max Design 10, So I can start rendering again!
-
Dude this is just ridiculously good.
-
That's one beautiful mesh, dude!
-
Thanks go to everyone who likes the mesh. There were times I never thought I'd ever be able to build her. But she turned out incredible.
-
She deserves a cookie my friend, you did a hell of a job on her.
-
brings a tear to me eyes now if u can find someone to map her
-
My only regret, when I rendered these last images of the ship, I didn't have my brand new XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphics card. (has new graphics card, yay me!!!) MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
Don't kill my buzz, I'm happy. I've been running a GeForce 7950 GT KO for 3 years, so this is one hell of a upgrade.
-
Ive been running a 640 GeForce 8800 GTS for the past 2
-
Yeah and I've been running a GeForce FX 5200 since 06 LMAO, but that Is of course on my old outdated machine now XD. Anyways the Resurrection's MSD has been upgraded, It was a request from Dawg but and Centurus and I both like It better lol. So enjoy.
-

HEHEHEHEHEHE told ya i was a tech geek :D :P
-
nice MSD! :)
seriously, you should jump into the realm of bridge retexturing - that is much much easier compared to creating MSD's for them lol :P
-
I'd love it if someone designed a new bridge for the Resurrection. Would be interesting to see what someone might come up with.
-
what, no ducks or mouses on the MSD? ;)
-
what, no ducks or mouses on the MSD? ;)
Thats rubber chickens and PLEASE PLEASE dont give him any ideas cause i know one of em will involve me being turned into something rather unpleasant

*hangs upside down in mid air in the shadows, then looks over at Murray, and Murray nods, and drags Lionus off towards the backroom*
-
*Dawg watches as murray drags lionus to the backroom and breathes a sigh of relief "thank god it isnt me this time"*
Any luck finding a mapper a wanna beta this beauty already
-
Nope, no luck yet. *hears Lionus scream terribly from the back room* Hmm...I wonder if Murray is forcing him to watch Oprah strip, or if he's trying out a new torture technique.
Not too many mappers I know.
-
Im sure someone will answer the call soon (hears moaning coming from the back room)
-
*Emerges behind 9thCenturus* Oprah shows aren't that bad.. but when The bold and the beautiful,Young and restless, Dallas and Dynasty started rolling, I just couldn't help it. :( Yes, that was uncalled for, my revenge shall be sweet.. your rubber chicken will meet it's demise in the hands of Belaja Smert.. :evil
-
*shows Belaja Smert a picture of myself in a grass skirt and coconut bra, then sees everyone shoot themselves in the eyes*
-
MAPPERS......ASSEMBLE!!!!! XD Oh too late he found one already, guess you all missed out on some hot connie action.
-
Atleast you're wearing something, Centurus. I've seen far worse stuff than that. :funny
-
*looks at the camera* Apparently Lionus doesn't know me very well, does he. *hears horror music soundtrack*
-
am i to assume u found a mapper already?
-
*looks at the camera* Apparently Lionus doesn't know me very well, does he. *hears horror music soundtrack*
show pics or otherwise prove that you're a total pervert.. :dontcare: otherwise i'm unimpressed. ;)
-
*shows Lionus a picture of Andy Dick and Richard Simmons giving Roseanne Barr a full body massage with Janet Reno in leather bondage*
-
*is unaffected. retaliates with Thor the dildo action shots*
-
Im no moderator but thats getting close to the line IMO tone it down before Jimmy comes aknockin
-
Indeed.. I think I shall leave it to this. I'm pretty sure that Centurus would admit his defeat like a grown up.. ;) :P
-
*looks around* Huh? Lionus, you came back for more!!! *smacks Lionus with a rubber chicken and turns him into Sanjaya from American Idol* And the Thor shots were limp. Might need some Valhalla Viagra to take care of that problem.
MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
-
*dodges the offending rubber bird* Before you irk a Finn too much, just look at what happened to Soviet Russia when they thought that they could conquer Finland in less than a month.. Okay, Stalin had executed most of his experienced command staff by then, but the odds were still heavily on the soviet side. Soviets failure at taking over finland then fooled germany thinking that russia could be defeated easily, if they couldn't even beat our corner of the world with 1.5 million men army..

-
i just checked out the dyna thread of yours cent. jeez dont they moderate over there man; Dizzy is something else
-
Yeah, but that's Dizzy. At this point, the mods don't care anymore, kinda like with me. They practically let me get away with murder these days, mainly because...well, you know me MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Also, he knows in the modeling forum, he's outnumbered. That's also probably why no one makes any models for him anymore.
Anyway, I'm contemplating starting on the Enforcer.
-
que es???????
-
You remember that Miranda refit concept I tried to bash some years ago?
-
yeah i remember
-
Nice model mate, you have improved massively
-
And most importantly, no change were made to the front of the neck.
-
Nice stuff Sir!
-
One of the best executed TNG connie refits I have seen in awhile, cookie for your work.
very nice design.
-
Thanks guys. :-D Hey Gadget, nice signature!!!!

HOLY THREAD REVIVALS!!!!
Well, it's been almost a year since I last made a post, but now there's something worth posting about.
With the help of WileyCoyote, the ship is now mapped, and with the help of Bones, she's almost completely textured. I've been holding off on posting updates till the textures were more or less completed.
Here she is, U.S.S. Resurrection, NCC - 1796, with textures 99% completed.
P.S.

^ I like. :) *cookies* to you and Bones...
-
awesome. reminds me of tha WZ ressurection. same concept?
-
The WZ Resurrection was actually the ship I kitbashed using WZ parts. Back then I couldn't make models from scratch, and WZ had the best models around. When I made this ship, I kept the warp engine design and the concept of aft firing torpedoes that I incorporated into my old kitbash.
You can find the old Resurrection, and my Transwarp NX Resurrection kitbashes in ZZ's Refit Constitution Pack on BCFiles.com.
-
^ I like. :) *cookies* to you and Bones...
Don't forget Wiley.
-
Looks great. +1 cookie.
-
Wow!! This is by far the best updated Constitution I have seen. That deflector looks especially nice. May we have a perspective view of it? I want to see the depth of it . . .
-
When Bones finishes the textures and I get the ship back, you can count on a ton of renders.
-
This is very awesome
-
Don't forget Wiley.
Yes, don't forget me. :) Without me, this wouldn't be possible, at least not immediately. Is there such a thing as detail overload?
-
If there is, I don't want to know about it. Can't have too much detail.
-
You can in 9 year old game, But if your Computer can handle it, theres' no such thing as to much detail.
-
Uber textures on a ship that's 26k polys.
-
Yes, don't forget me. :) Without me, this wouldn't be possible, at least not immediately. Is there such a thing as detail overload?
Like you really need them :D Oh, ok then...
-
I was just saying on another forum how I wish there were higher res versions of the Resurrection Connies. Have another cookie. She looks fantastic. :D
-
detail overload ? nah you can never have too much details ... well unless they are pink and screaming at you poor eyes :P
I'm glad you guys like it, thanks to Wileys mapping, she was real fun to texture but were not done yet ;)
still I have to apply glows, first I'll make them classic method and then try that new method from Cord and JB, hopefully it will work
-
still I have to apply glows, first I'll make them classic method and then try that new method from Cord and JB, hopefully it will work
yeah, I want to try that method myself. Anyway, +1 cookie for you too Bones.
-
great job
when i saw this i wanted to scream :eek
cookie for both of u
-
Make sure to cookie Wiley. His mapping made it possible.
-
It looks fantastic! Cookies all around!

Right i have to say this, I Want to say YUK i hate it, as i hate all connie refits after the TMP main one. soo being a pain in the ass i started going over it bit by bit to see what i hated the most, u know what i couldn't do it, I'm OVER THE MOON with it, i really really love it not to sure about the impulse but that is it, u have changed my mind over somthing i was quite strong about once apon a time, well done to every one invulved
-
*takes a bow then looks over at Murray, who nods his head to the other rubber chickens to start feasting on the fresh Borg*
-
I agree with Nix, the impulse engines give me pause, but the rest of it looks friggin awesome. Those textures look so realistic.
-
I like the impulse engines. After all, I built them. :-)
-
One thing I've noticed, and I'm wondering if this is intentional, but the pattern in the deflector isn't symmetrical.

WOW thats very high praise especially from Phoenix the resident TOS junkie. Congrats guys u did it though i wonder what he will say to the Enforcer once u get to texturing on her

Looks like an intermediate step between the Constitution and the Sobeiski/Cortez

It looks like it, but this ship comes far later.

Pointed out to Bones,

yeah now, I can see what's wrong ;) will fix it.

You may have built them, but I designed them, Kthxbai XD

got the backstory finished yet

holy thread comeback!!!! Centurus has placed me in charge of getting the resurrection ported over to BC :yay:. As it stands the mesh has been converted compliments of baz (thank you) and has been handed over to Bones for textures and scripting which is underway now. Once Bones is finished with the textures/specs/scripting i will be needing some beta testers. Those who are interested please send me a PM. Only 3 or 4 people will be picked to test her out. As soon as i hear from Bones on how close he is to completing her i will send a PM to those who i have picked to test her out. :readme:
-
:D ATM I'm reinstalling BC + KM along with all the mods I need... why did I unistall it :idk:
Already had a look at her in Nifskope, she looks awesome !

We can thank the almighty baz  :yay: for the clean conversion

Aye ! cookies for Baz !
-
A quick STL check has revealled over 1000 open faces.
See pic below.
These are most likely why it has errors after exporting.
-
yep these are the places that turns messy everytime I try to export the model :D 1K looks bad, how can that be fixed ??
-
Basicly every vert on the red lines are two unwelded vert so that is what needs doing.
Not going to be a quick fix, I have tried a quick weld and it did not help much.
Happy to advise but have not got the time fix for you guys.
-
ok just pulled it apart, it is not a unified mesh so it is where all the parts join up is the problem.
Fixing it will screw the UV unwraps up I'm afraid.
-
The verts always seem to come apart when any kind of porting is done. When I built the ship, there were no unwelded verts. Why it keeps doing it, I have no idea.
-
Also, I purposely didn't want it to be a unified mesh.
-
If I can get my old laptop working I'll see if it will export from max 3
-
we appreciate any help u can give us baz
-
I'm sending Dawg an NIF of the ship. It's quick and dirty, and I have no idea if it'll work. I exported it to 3DS, then exported to MOD (SFC), and then exported that to NIF. But I didn't go back and reweld any verts. I got tired of rewelding verts about a few hundred million verts ago.
-
i got the files but there are 2 of them in there
-
sent the files to Bones everyone cross their fingers also if anyone care to look at the wireframe image baz posted a few posts up and give some input on how this can be ported properly im all ears
-
So far so good, no floating polies, no errors, just need to scale her up a bit and rename texture materials to fit mine, then we shall see how she works in MPE
UPDATE :
scale is still off, when I try to scale her up via Nifskope, MPE locate tool doesn't pick coordinates at all and the model is blinking, if I scale her up via 3ds max, MPE won't read the model at all, if I try it in milkshape ... well, you know what happens with milkshape :P
except for not being able to properly set scale thus not being able to hardpoint her it's all good ... any iddeas how to set her into 310 meters ???
-
I have taken the NIF you sent Bones. had to little repair to the smoothing that was lost in conversion.
I have exported to 3DS and loaded up in max3 and exported using the official exporter from the SDK and I can not see the holes in nif skope.
Won't really know how well it has worked until Bones slaps some textures on her, as it is just a bright white ship for me.
-
could you ssend her to my email ? also would that be possible to scale her to around 305-310 meters before sending her to me ? :D it seems the only ship I can't export properly not to mention about scaling :P
never mind :P just cchecked my mail :P
-
Already sent
See if the export works before we go any further.
-
it worked although now MPE renders the ship in a kind of software renderer ... textures are extremely pixelated and there are mapping errors all over the secondary hull ...
-
I feared that would happen, I had to do little cut and shut to fix the export errors.
If I'm to get it right I'm going to need the textures too so I can fix them as I'm going.
-
I have them . bmp and bones has them in tga which set ya need all mighty baz?
-
The ship was originally scaled to WZ's TMP Connie, as I've always found his scales to be pretty reliable. Then again, the scales were for SFC and not BC. As for the cutting and such, I find that a little disturbing. I can rescale the ship on my end and do a report again. Just someone needs to refresh me again on how to scale a ship to a certain size.
-
TGA's works best for me.
As for the repairs, they were nothing major. On the secondary hull I had to delete a row of faces (the row directley below the gardern windows) and then re-bridge them and reapply the smoothing. There was also similar export errors on the fantail too.
As for scaling ships I just combine the mesh import the BC ship that I want to be in scale to and then just use the scale tool.
Centurus this is your ship at the end of the day and I don't want to step on toes if you want to do the post export repairs to the mesh I'll happily stand down and be here to advice.
This is a very nice an clean mesh it just has a few errors from exporting.
-
No worries. Replacing faces to correct smoothing, I've done that a number of times, on this ship during construction, so you doing it I don't have a problem with. I had a completely different thought in mind. The smoothing errors are something I've yet to understand why they happen, and have no idea how to keep them from happening, and I've consulted quite a few people, yet the problems just keep coming up. As for the scaling, sounds good how you're gonna do it, so go for it.
Let me know if there are any errors. So close to getting it in game, I want to know what else comes up.
-
Ok, Bones sent me the textures, I have reapplied them and squared up the mapping errors from my repairs.
If you want me to scale the ship let me know which BC ship is the closest size and I will rescale to match, export to max 3 and the re-export to nif tonight when I get home.
-
Some nice teamwork going on here :) Looking forward to trying this one out...
-
Whichever refit Constitution is the most accurate in terms of scale. Looks like I'm going to need to send the registries as well.
-
I can scale it to TMP refit. Then it will be in scale with my drydock and workbee /travelpods and backrupts EVA suits.
-
Excellent.
-
Looking great :D can't wait to start hardpointing her :D
-
Guys, with BC ships, set the units to generic and scale to meters (tools tab on the right panel> measure to get a readout). I've always been scaling BC ships like this, and it is precise enough (I use the scale rightclick window and scale with keyboard inputs, not the mouse, again this is a precision matter).
Centurus, Baz: with the 3ds>mod>nif stuff you'll have a lot of problems on the mesh (mostly because mod format will always kill the smoothing to a single group, the format doesn't allow for more than a single group. This is why ppl always split meshes to elements by smoothing group before exporting to mod), either always port directly to mod or nif. You have a script called back from five (Google it), which lets you import meshes to older versions of max (doesn't export from Max2009 on, maybe the author updated it, I haven't checked for a long time).
-
I've talked with Fury about that before Adonis, and I still get the same problems with smoothing. No one knows why.

Can you come on msn?

I don't use MSN anymore. For some reason it doesn't work.

we use FB chat and thank u almighty baz for all u have done

ship rescaled to match my tmp and tos connies.
A couple of before and after pics and some eye candy.

Ok, she's ingame, can't say she's ready but still it's more than nothing... at first sight everything is fine but then when you look closer things doesn't look too well :( model has some missing parts, there are some mapping errors like distorsions or even whole areas haveing completely messed UVWs I could fix mapping in Milkshape (don't have Max anymore) but that will ruin smoothing completely so I would be back in starting point...
I'll pack her so you can take a look at her tomorrow ;)

Missing parts?
-
nacelle fins, connections between hull and torpedo tubes, few triangles on nacelles and saucer rim, few more maybe.
-
If issues such as these continue to creep up, the BC release may have to be scrapped completely, and just a general release will have to do.
-
Oh, Bones, install the registries that I had sent.
-
Oh, Bones, install the registries that I had sent.
I guess sine this ship started with me (mapping) it will end with me.
I am currently tweaking the textures and exporting the ship so it is BC capable. You wanted USS Resurrection NCC-1796 for your ship?
Also, Bones could you PM me with a link to the hardpointed version of the Resurrection?
-
defiantly see some weirdness in 007 pic long the bottom rear nacelle seam. Hope you guys can solve this it looks really good otherwise.

Yep. Not sure if you have the registries I had made or not. If not, let me know and I'll send them along.

Yep. Not sure if you have the registries I had made or not. If not, let me know and I'll send them along.
I got the textures, but the curved registries were warped. I tweaked them so they looked "proper."
-
I'll deal with the registries later because I just noticed with spots that could use additional glows ;)
here's the link to scripted ship, please note there are no sounds ATM and the icon is Sobieski's, I have a render of Resurrection ready just need to make it an icon :P
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3658970/Resurrection_alpha.rar
...and here's the mesh only with high res textures and models in MAX

Never give up! Never Surrender!
The Resurrection is now scaled down to the TMP Enterprise, and exported fine. I also added a new ship icon. The saucer was remapped (assigned the impulse area to the correct texture). There was a minor hiccup when I exported it (shuttlebay door texture looks as if it is cracked open a bit), and I still have yet to add the registries.
Other than that, it needs a hardpoint and it is ready for release.
-
 great work Wiley ! have a cookie !
Could you send me updated ship, I can take care of registries if you want, anyways I need to fit hardpoint to the new scale.

Check your PM's.
-
Got it
She's never been better, great job ;)
Cookies for Wiley !
-
Its a bit too thick for my liking in the saucer and bridge but I will definitly give it a try.
-
Wiley u are da man!!!!!!!! :dance
and that never give never surrender was part of my old 9th fleet sig. great minds think alike
-
Just registries then. Whoever makes the new set of registries, could you do me 2 favors? One, add them where I had them originally, cause I liked the placement and also the blue outline color, and 2, send me PSDs of them, so I can use the templates for other ship registries?
I can't believe after almost 2 years, this ship is finally gonna be released. Gotta update the readme.
-
Consider it done man ;) I'm also really happy she's nearly complete, hardpoints are ready, carrier file ready, sounds and other stuff checked.
I'm setting up regs now.
-
was there a problem with hte ship I converted?
-
lol Baz, I told ya about a week before Xmas, mapping went crazy and there were lots of missing triangles around deflector and nacelles, nevertheless thank's for your help and effort :)
UPDATE :
She's ready for trial runs :D
who's up for some testing ? already sent her to Dawg and Centurus.
-
Would it be all right if I did a few renders with her? Maybe you can throw one in as a screenshot before release?
-
I can make more than just one picture but those will never be as great as those HE would do ... where's Tally when we need him :D
got those straight from the game
-
:yay: lookin great!
-
Question:
Why does the registry in the last picture look almost holographic?
-
P.S.
Dawg!!! You're up!!! Get your beta team together, and do anything and everything you can to break the ship. Make sure she's solid. :-)
-
well already had bones adjust the shields and add the turret but need a micro quantum torpedo script/texture anyone know of any i can use?
-
My apologies for asking something that may have already been asked but... Are those phaser arrays along the edge of the saucer?
-
P.S.
Dawg!!! You're up!!! Get your beta team together, and do anything and everything you can to break the ship. Make sure she's solid. :-)
I would bet its the spec map.
My apologies for asking something that may have already been asked but... Are those phaser arrays along the edge of the saucer?
My gut answer is no they are sensor pallets but I can't actually tell from looking.
-
Simply outstanding so far on this project, superb detail.
Love the screeencaps Bones, realy shows her off. Great job. :yay:
-
My apologies for asking something that may have already been asked but... Are those phaser arrays along the edge of the saucer?
Those would be sensor arrays on the rim
-
To answer the questions :
1. Registries are not included on specular maps thus the ghostly look to them from certain angles, registries in TMP looked similiar to this.
2. I'm already patching up quantum scripts to include micro quantum torpedo
3. Those dark plates on the rim are sensor palletes, similiar to those on Nebula, Galaxy or Intrepid class
I'm glad you like it guys :)
stay tuned for patched BETA.
UPDATE :
I've beta tested it on a clean KM 2011 install, everything works just fine, all sounds are set, carrier scripts works perfectly, she stores 2 type 6 shuttles, 2 type 9, 2 type 11 and one venture scout in her shuttlebay.
I've put her through 3 rounds of heavy fighting, 1st round with 4 bug ships - won, round 2 with dominion battlecruiser - won with minimal damage, round 3 wih dominion battleship - won with moderate damage :D
after few fights I noticed phasers are easily knocked down after heavy fire but I like that, adds kind of realism :)
-
i see u fixed the shuttle bay door black gap pretty just dont forget to pack it in the next beta version. As for me Ive been taking her against the Klingons so far easily took out the kvort today going to test her against the neghvar and vorcha as well as a couple of romulan ships going to be fun and just for kicks i may test her against wileys new galaxy class
-
ok well going up against a vorcha i came ot with some damge and a hole on the bow neghvar was easier due to her better turn radius the warbird i took out in my first volley with minor damage thanks to using thruster to weave aroundthe incoming fire. took out a Dom batleship with minor system damage and shields at 80 percent due to beter maneuvering and being able to stay underneath her and thrusters.
-
Ok, here's the deal, while most of the ship is balanced pretty well for a early 25 century vessel, one thing isn't turret, ATM it is scripted with the very same quantum torpedos tht torp launchers are...
We could use different quantums like Dawg suggested or we could pack there something funny :D I've put 20 advanced quantums as a secondary torpedo to the launchers but those could be used to script turret instead.
to avoid overkill I would have to make the turret to fire only 1 torpedo every 20-30 seconds ... maybe even every 10 seconds, afterall these are not all that powerfull ;)
what do you think ?
btw. we're talking about those teal-blue torpedos from my Sobieski and Cortez class ;) would these fit ?
-
Ideally the turret should be able to fire at least 2-3 micro quantums at a time, but I do like the idea of one torpedo fired every 10-20 seconds, so go for it. Make sure it has a 180 firing arc, max.
Oh, and someone take the ship against a Sovereign, and see how well she does against the Borg.
-
will do i also have a friend thats testing her out tonight and tomorrow so we may get her out for a new years release depending if bcfiles isnt acting up
-
Question, are there registries on the warp nacelles? The registries I made had them, but as far as I can see, there aren't any on the in game model.
-
well i can tell ya this she gets ripped a new one against wileys new galaxy class by herself. but when i took her against the lakota and the km galaxy i did a good job shields got bashed good and took alot of minor to modertae system damage same for going against the prommie and km galaxy but the arcs on the pylon phasers need to be tweeked already sent bones a pm about it
-
Hey bones, you thought of giving STO's Exeter Class starship a go? she'd make a great edition to the PDW line of ships and seeing what youve done here with the ressurection id say that ships a cakewalk, especially as all the reference images are on the STO site.
anyways just an idea for you there and i cant wait to pitch this one of with the Sol :D
-
I've put registries to both saucer sides, to both sides of the secondary hull (where the SFC logo with long red streak is) and on both sides of nacelles (same location as on original refit)
I'm taking care of pylons ATM, got 'em mirrored :P
Exeter sounds fine, I like the design. Bring me the model and I can make u textures, won't work other way as I have to little time to learn modelling right now (regretably) :(
-
Ok, fixed, I think :P
also I forgot I set affiliation for ablative armour but never added it to hardpoint, so I had to tweak everything once more, now the hull is weakened from 17500 to 15000 and shields from 25000 to 20000 with slow recharge rate but to counter it she has ablative aromur covering whole ship with 10000 hitpoints :D
now she should be one tough connie to crack ;)
-
ill try but i cant garuntee anything as i cant even use 3ds max yet lol, but ill talk to a friend from college and see what he comes up with, now all i need to do is get a rear view, hich mean i gotta get another 76 CStore Points....
-
great, anyway, moving on with the Resurrection, I've tested final version and everything seems to be just right in place and working
I'm sending here to Centurus for release as soon as I get report from Dawg :)
here are some beaty shots
-
bad news :( , I cant get ahold of anything 3d wise but i do have the Dorsal, Starboard and Fore views of the ship, unless i can find some way of getting you a model of it that doesnt breach the STO EULA i think the idea of the Exeter is at a stand still....
anyways heres the views i have of her if you want em, maybe something can be worked out eventually.
-
really, that's all a draftsman would need. that's one thing I was taught at tech school, to use at least two views to make a third. it could be done.
-
really, that's all a draftsman would need. that's one thing I was taught at tech school, to use at least two views to make a third. it could be done.
just what I was about to say :) thx KCS ;)
until there's no model, there's nothing to do for me, let's not hijack Cent's thread shall we ;)
-
ok just putting em up here for you incase.
-
sure but as I said, we would need a moddel, I could kitbash something similiar I suppose but that's another time ;)
-
I've used the Exeter recently in STO, and some parts I don't like about the design, but overall, she's a nice ship. I could help in the creation of the ship. It'll be the first time I've attempted such a project without an actual 3D model to work off of, as I use an existing model as a mold and build my ships on top of it. I find it easier than working with a series of pictures. Then again I am still a novice in my modeling skills.
Anyway, the ship looks great. One nitpick. Nacelle registries, you forgot to add United Federation Of Planets under the registry number.
Bones, make sure to send me the most current set of blanks for the ship as well, so I can have them for future fun.
Dawg, please PM me a list of all beta testers, as I want to send a copy of the readme to all those involved before release. I want to make sure that I've credited people properly and that they all approve. I am a great many screwy and f-uped things, but I do have a reputation to protect in that I don't want to forget anyone that helped, and they get proper recognition.
P.S.
I don't mind the talk about the Exeter in this thread. When I saw the ship available for STO, I myself thought about maybe making the ship.
-
I will send them along with PSDs with regs on them just as u asked ;)
I think there are few ships that have very similiar features as exeter, combining them to one model and then remodeling it even further would work I guess ;)
For instance Constitution evo - gagarin would require slight remodelling of nacelles, replacement saucer from Baz JJrefit (additional modifications to the spine) remodelling pylons and JJ-fying Gagarin nacelles :)
-
I suppose itd be ok if i ripped the exeter from the game and we used that as a referance model without actually using that specific one it wouldnt really breach the EULA as no content from that game would be used as the final product, but id have to check with about 20 people first.
-
NYET! don't play with my Gagarin!
i notice that with each take on a Connie, usually only the Saucer and Nacelles get a tweak or rebuild. this is one of the better takes on TNGing the TMP slab nacelles that I've seen
-
she is almost there, a few more hp tweaks and she be ready for release. My most recent test i took her against a galaxy x solo and won with moderate shield damage then took her against 2 excels and a wileys connie and came out with minor very minor hull damage and shields took a good beating
-
she's coming in pains but it will be totally worth it ;)
I tried her vs Wiley's, DJ and JLS Sovereigns ... everytime failed but hell ... that was a fight, everytime I was beaten by those damn turrets.
-
Me likey where this is going!!! Keep putting her through her paces. When I built this ship, I didn't build her to be just eye candy. She may be old, and not exactly the newest model in the fleet, but she's meant to dish it out, and take it in strides, when compared to 24th century ships that is. :-D
KCS:
Thanks. The credit for the warp engine design goes to WickedZombie45. When I kitbashed the original Resurrection, I used all of his models, and he had a pair of warp engines that I thought were great for TNG/post-TNG. When I came around to making the current Resurrection from scratch, the warp engines I definitely wanted to keep. Sometimes small changes have the best results.
-
Bones, if I were to model the Exeter, would you texture it?
-
of course I would, what do you have in mind mate ?
-
Well, the largest barrier between me making ships and turning them out for BC is texturing. That and everything involving conversion. :P No problems with coming up with ideas, sketching them, and modelling them. I'm guessing the Exeter class would be using similar textures to most of your post-Nem stuff, so shouldn't be much of an issue on that end.
When I get some modelling done, I'll post in another thread.
-
well there's no rule that says model and texture must be done by the same person. Conversion is not an issue, if all else fails there's always me. Same applies for hp.
-
I'm modelling the Exeter, but I need some sort of aft view. Can anyone get me one?
-
Just for update info, I think I managed to sort out pylons phasers, after it's confirmed positive, I'm sending final repack to Centurus, then it's a short run to BCFiles :)
-
Bones: Sounds good.
Farshot: I'll get you some.
-
I've just run some tests with new HP, she's now even more effective with aft finally being covered properly with phasers, now the weakest spot is both sides as it was meant :)
Check your PMs Centurus, you could test her yourself and see if she's good enough ;)
-
I don't play BC, so I wouldn't be able to use her. Did you make sure to send the fix to Dawg?
-
yep, in case it turns out well (at least it's working for me right now pretty good) you have to-be-final version in PM ;) now we wait for confirmation ffrom Dawg
-
Very good.
-
Thanks, Cent. I'll have something up later today.
I looked through the last dozen pages and realized something. The readme for the Resurrection is going to have one epic list of credits.
-
That's why before release, everyone I have credited in the readme will get to review it. If I forgot someone, hopefully someone will let me know, and if the people involved wished to be credited in a certain way, I'll know.
-
Ok, aside for the final revisions of the readme, the ship is definitely ready. She's been cleared by the beta testing team. Give me a couple days to get things sorted.
-
Sweet! :yay:
-
last night i took her up against a squad of jem hadar fighters 6 and came out with moderate shield and minor hull damage the secondary targeting scripting works well on this ship
-
Did anyone take her against the Borg? Just curious.
-
yep, put one hole in the cube but then got wiped horibly, got a little bit more lucky against sphere tho ;)
-
Readme has been sent out for final approvals. Now just gotta remember what my password is for FF. Have they fixed the problems with FileFront yet?
-
looks fine if you ask me ;) FF works fine , you just have to refresh every new file site few times before it loads properly, other than that it's all working ;)
-
I don't think, personally, that they ever will fix the "problems" with filefront. after all, the current owner is basically an advertizing revenue generator company.
but, yes, you just have to poke the site a while.
I look forward to refit variants when they pop up due to the sheer suck of the basic refit's weapons coverage, no matter who's done the modeling and hardpointing. since you pretty much have to keep true to TMP with those, they're kinda mediocre to me
-
Just realized this ship has no install instructions. But since I don't play the game, guess people who download the ship are gonna have to figure it out.
-
Ok, ship's been uploaded to BCFiles.com. If for some reason the ship isn't posted, I'll upload the ship to another location and post the download link somewhere.
-
it may take some hours from upload till posting. Looking forward to install it.
-
it is a great day cant wait to see how many DL it gets this week
-
you two have 4 downloads as of this posting, mine included.
i love the beefy neck to go with the beefy saucer. lets hope it's not the E-hull that breaks off instead of the neck :P no problems at all with FF or the ship itself.
it's a good thing you didn't capitalize "class" in the plugin (whoever wrote it), or there's be some conflict with the older ZZ refit pack (which ALSO has two Ressurection refits) this fits right in with that old pack. never had so many connies in my life.
Edit: suggest you leave speculars off, however. makes the windows look bleached out or poorly done (and since this is a Bones texture, i KNOW they're well done)
Edit 2: *GROAN* Bones! everybody seems to be stealing Cyanide's "gag in the textures" trademark!
-
It might just be me, but the speculars don't seem as good as the screenies in the thread looked.
"Gag in the textures"?
-
Speculars, even on 1024 res with no AA and AF looked the same on my pc which is kinda weak :P
Yeah I tend to put some gags sometimes, it's kinda funny to spot for the first time :P and if you mean the beer joke then I share love for beer with Cyanide :D
-
um, you forgot the Sparta joke in the nacelles :P
-
That one is pretty obvious :P just look at me avatar :funny
Before this thread's gonna be locked down, I'd like to thank everyone again, even if it's not my ship actually, I felt like working on my own mod, this ship was real fun to texture and I'm glad I could help Centurus creating his dream ship :)
now that it's on BCFiles, Good job everyone !
-
I'd post a pic of this great ship, if I could. :funny She is wonderful though.
-
You guys have already downloaded it? Nice!! Just wish I could see a download link on BCFiles.com.
Oh, KCS, the Resurrections in ZZ's pack, those were my old kitbashes. :-D
-
Ok, I finally got the download link working on my end. I can't figure out why the developer is showing as Capt. Dawg - F9thDaihak. I had created a new user account at FF with my current username of Centurus, and I uploaded it through that account. FF really is screwy these days. :-(
-
don't worry, old dudes should know who is who ;)
-
they better ok i guess this thread can be locked now thanks to everyone who helped to get the resurrection ingame. Now about the enforcer......
-
Aside from a moderator, I shall be the last to post in this thread.
Thanks to everyone who participated and supported this. :-D
Ok, lock her up.
-
how exactly did you want that developer? I'll see fi the system will cooperate to fix it.
-
I had made a new account on BCFiles.com by the name of Centurus, but it's alright. .
