I put all of my BC mods into the BC folder like directed, I start the game, none of the mods are on there. Also there is no mod launcher or plugin. What am I missing?

 Mods installed: Borg Megalith (http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/file/Borg_Megalith;22860)
 Undine Cruiser (http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/file/8472_Cruiser;24184)
 Borg Torpedo (http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/file/Borg_Torpedo;45883)

if you havent already done this you need the STBC1.1 patch, BCUT's foundation installer, and BOcoregold(if you want to add extra bridges...) if you have, then id try reinstalling BC, doing these steps, re download ur mods and try them again.....

-
Do not do what flarespire said. Rather only do what he said that I'm going to tell you as well.

Question 1: Have you patched your game?
If not: Download the 1.1 patch here (http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/file/Bridge_Commander_Patch;2374)
 If so:

Question 2: Have you installed Foundation onto your BC install?
If not: Download BCUT here (http://www.bcs-tng.com/portal/?q=bcsmc) and install it to your game.
 If so:

Question 3: Did your ships come with plugins? (They will have a scripts/Custom/Ships folder with YourShip.py)
If not: Download BCUT (link above) and create a plugin for your ship.
If so: You should not have a problem at this point. A console report will be needed. (There is a sticky on how to get one.)
-
oops,  :hithead:  i forgot the links, well thanks kirk for getting those up even though i was just about too....
anyways if you have done these and they still cause issues do as kirk said, it will help out alot.

-
A good bet might also be the Kobayashi Maru mod package. It comes with many other ships, mods, systems, etc. It greatly enhances the gameplay over the stock game.

-
Guys, don't recommend extra things here. Let's fix the problem, then you can suggest away in another thread.

-
Thanks, Kirk, but exactly where do I install the patch to? For some danged reason it never says in the ReadMe where to put it. In Activision, or put it in the BC root directory.

 Thx pat

I installed the patch, started up BC, and the mods weren't there in Quick Battle selection like they're supposed to be... And do they work in the "-TestMode" (Cheat) mode? Notes of Question:

Do I have to extract the contents of the folder?

Do I have to reinstall BC?

Do I have to get my cat off the top of my monitor? :uberlol:

lol ya dontcha hate when that happens?

Yes I do. Matter of fact she sleeps on it.

you have to install both the STBC 1.1 patch, foundation from BCUT and(for bridges) BPcoregold once all of them are installed to the BC root directory, run BC and goto configure, there should be a fifth button called mutators, enable extra ships and mods once you have installed your mods, then go back to the mutators menu and enable theyre mutators and then go into quickbattle, you should then see that you can now use the extra ships, bridges and functions, i hope this explains it, let us know if you need any more help k?

-
				Thx Nebula.

-
after you install BCUT you have to run BCUT and install foundation

-
When I downloaded BCUT's foundation, enabled Extra Ships, went to do Quick Battle where I -THOUGHT!- I could battle with my new and improved ships. For some reason, it skipped the dialouge, when I pressed Quick Battle Setup, THERE WASN"T ANYTHING THERE! Somebody PLEASE help me on getting my STBC game back to normal. PLEASE!!!!

 :wtf
-
alright... here I have a question... what Operating system do you have.

if it is vista or win 7 then you need to install BC outside of the programfiles directory to some place like C:\Games
to avoid issues with file protection that could screw up BC.
-
				Operating system: Windows XP.

I have fixed the problem by disabling Extra Ships/Mods, but I still can't get the dialogue and the Paramount/Activision intro's back.

-
Sorry ruger, my wording was a bit poor on that second step.

-
Alright, so from what I understand you've already patched the game, installed foundation, and enabled the "Extra Ships/Mods" mutator. This is all good. Have you activated all of the mutators? Most importantly "Stock Ships" and "Stock Systems." Also, in addition to the patch and foundation, what else have you installed.

Based on your OS, you should not have any problems modding the game if you have installed it into its default directory. (C:/Program Files/....)

 Please stop spamming emotes. :D
-
almost all the intro movies get kicked the second you modify with some bits.  NanoFX will boot the stock movies.  so don't panic over THAT.

-
What about Saffi's intro dialogue? I mean, it isn't really that intriguing but sometimes I enjoy it   :D

-
OK. One more thing. For a mod (ship) to install correctly, do I drag/drop into C:/Program Files/Activicsion/Bridge Commander/data/Models/Ships?

-
you put the ship's model in data and the ship's scripts in script's and the ships sfx in sfx

so you just copy and paste the mod's(ship's) folders into the bc directory and let them overwrite when asked
-
				K. Having trouble with trying to install the Kobayashi Maru mod pack... The ReadMe's are pretty much USELESS!

-
				not hard to install KM

 just

 BC
 BC 1.1 patch
 DL KM
 extract KM
copy the Data, scripts, and sfx folders from KM
paste these folders into the bc directory and let them overwrite when asked.
run the game then turn on all the mutators.
 restart BC
 run game again

Thanks, Kirk, but exactly where do I install the patch to? For some danged reason it never says in the ReadMe where to put it. In Activision, or put it in the BC root directory.

It's assumed that you have some basic knowledge in computing. So, you've got an archived file you extract it anywhere and run the exe file to patch the game.

 K. Having trouble with trying to install the Kobayashi Maru mod pack... The ReadMe's are pretty much USELESS!

Readmes aren't useless they just assume that you have some basic knowledge of Windows & Program operations.

Easiest way for you would be to setup KM:
 1. Install a new instance of the game
 2. Install the patch by downloading the patch and running the exe file
 3. Download BCUT and install it (if not already installed) and into a separate location NOT in the same location where STBC is installed.
 4. Start up BCUT and go to Options Section over there you will have only 1 Automatic button, press that. It will allow BCUT to find your BC installation.
 5. Download KM zip file
 6. In BCUT switch to Mod Installer, BC Tools->Mod Installer
 7. Press Extract Archive button and navigate towards KM zip file and press open finally
 8. Wait for it to be extracted -- can take a while
 9. BCUT should recognize that KM is Manual Installation method
 10. Under Available Installation Methods make sure that Manual is selected
 11. Finally press Install Mod and allow BCUT to properly install KM to your game -- it will also take some time
 12. Repeat steps 5-11 to install any other mod

Note: Get latest BCUT from here: http://bcs-tng.com/portal/?q=bcsmc

That dialogue was commented out to speed up QuickBattle loading in Foundation.

-
I have downloaded the Kobayashi Maru from bckobayashimaru.de

For some reason, when I try to load a campaign it loads, then goes to the Black Screen Of Death, then the game has an error.

Was that the right KM download? Or is something wrong?
-
If it gives a BSOD you should post a console report.

-
				Console report?

Additional problem: BC will give me a BSOD, then an error at random times.
-
Yeah there is a big sticky thread in this board called: 'How to beat the Black Screen and other Script problems; Getting a Console Report' which shows you how to get one.

It is what enables a programmer like me to debug and tell what's wrong with your game. Your description of the nature of the BSOD doesn't help at all in this case.
-
im gonna go ahead and merge all these threads since it is an ongoing problem thread author is having with BC...
