You may have seen the USS Hargood in my jjprise pack (it was a kelvin refit).
I named her after the HMS Hargood a captain class frigate from WWII.
Anyway the reason is my grandad servered aboard her and I decided to make a model of her in his memory and those who served aboard her.

why am I thinking that ship should be a bit duller? must be only seeing shots of US navy ships.
anyway *salute*

This ship was actually American. You guys lent us these ships and we re-commissioned them to our navy.
The H.M.S HARGOOD was a Destroyer ship, which belonged to the ?CAPTAIN CLASS FRIGATES (second group) - Ex US TE? class of ships.
The ship had a displacement of 1,400 tons (std) 1,740 tons (full) and was launched from the Bethlehem Hingham, Hingham MA shipyard, on 18 December 1943.
The ship was on Lend Lease from the US Navy and was later returned to them on 4 March 1946.
It was sold for scrapping in March 1947.
Not a very long life but alway remebered in my family.

just to expand on what Baz said, Hargood was a Buckley-class Destroyer Escort (DE) built for the Royal Navy as part of the lend-lease program. Captain-class FFs consisted of two classes of american DEs; the Buckley and the Everts, which were essentially the same except for the powerplant. The cammo scheme used on Baz's model suggests it served in one of the units operating in the English Channel and North Sea (and was also the scheme used by its US Navy DE sister ships). The USN designation Destroyer Escort is essentially the same as the RN Frigate designation, after WWII this type was officially redesignated to FFs to avoid confusion with their RN equivalent.

PWNED! okay, okay, I got infodumped on. yeesh. I just thought the RN used a darker grey than the USN. (WW2 info I've seen emphasises the RAF more)
-
actually it is painted in ths USN colours. The model kit is the only colour reference I could find. The ship should actual have camo on it.

been building a more detailed model
