Well since the TWOK bridge is going so well I have started another one.

isn't talking about that not really helping? XD
-
JJ haters
indeed, i am one of those lol :P
anyway, moving on... there will be many people who will be very excited for this bridge, even if i am not one of them lol
(tho maybe ill retexture it for myself when it is completed and make it into somewhat DS9-era bridge from the proper timeline :P)
-
Well I'm excited about it, good start. :)
-
Wow great work man!
-
Soon as I saw the supermarket scanners on the consoles, i knew what it was! Awesome!
I have my reservations about the film, but I didn't hate it, and would really like to see this in BC!
WARNING: THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT CONTAINS A TONGUE IN A CHEEK.
Should we start pestering the scripters to enable Bridge-view lens flares? :p
-
Good start on that baz.
-
Got most of the helm console built in my lunch break
-
Looks good near as I can tell

Perhaps you shouldn't look at it as another "gunshot into Trek by J.J. Abrams", but rather as a graphical miracle for BC since this bridge would undoubtedly be the most difficult ever bridge for BC.
Maybe that's just me. :D
Anyway, always looking forward to more bridges. Perhaps when you're done with this, that you could try your hand at some non-Trek bridges (DSC304 Daedalus bridge FTW!).
-
Without wishing to insult Baz's skills, I don't actually think (LCARS animations and lens flares :P aside) that this bridge design is hugely more complex than, for example, the Sovereign bridge.
Not the Bridge Commander Sovereign Bridge, that's a box of randomly placed polygons compared to Baz's work :D, say the Excalibur Sovereign Bridge, sort of that level of difficulty, not above.
-
No insult taken, this bridge is not difficult to model. The textures will be a bitch and bad timing as Bones has retired, will need to find a new bridge texture god.
-
Helm now done just a little tidying to be done.
-
Helm looks good!

A note on the little gizmos on the consoles back and to either side of the captains chair.
They are run of the mill modern day supermarket barcode scanners, in fact there are at least 3 kinds of barcode scanners on that bridge. There must have been a lot of retail going on :P. honestly, it bugs me! The highest-budgeted Star Trek production ever, and the set dressers drop the ball by putting recognisably modern gizmos on the set. it's crazy!
That said, the reason I probably noticed them is because I've always thought those scanners (the black ones on stalks) looked like Season 1 TNG "Dustbuster" phasers. In the interests of reference, here's some pics:

EDIT:
On second thoughts, they are so lame that maybe the way you've done it is better.
-
The list doors are started.

the whole movie was a sell-out, like going to the mall... and dont get me started on the ridiculously obvious product placements (like no other trek film had) that the supermarket bar code scanners would have been appropriate for lol
but that's for another thread where im sure i rambled on and complained about all of that lol :P
lol sorry offtopic baz - i am very happy youre doing this bridge :)
-
Yeah, Jimmy, that is offtopic!
We need to get a moderator or an administrator in here to ban his ass! :P
Seriously, though. Baz, if your plan is to gloss over the more glaring naffness on this Bridge, I couldn't be happier. It's the little details that messed up the original design for that bridge, which is actually quite cool and nice :).
Maybe your version could be the idealised midpoint between the concept art and the realised set?
-
The helm "levers" are slightly off, but still look good. :D
-
I've got some very useful JJ-set reference material (good bridge shots, doors, consoles, etc) could package up for you. And hopefully could do a guide how to make transparent lcars.

Please do
