Title: how to stop win7 window docking
Post by: Starforce2 on December 20, 2010, 10:38:04 PM
can docking be turned off? I am tired of shoving a window out of the way only to have it auto-maximise and fill my screen. It's getting very sickening.

the window will only dock IF the mouse cursor touches the edge of the screen.

I'd either use Win+tab or alt+tab to get to what ya want...
you could also shake the window that will minimize all but the window you want
OR you could do win+D

but to really answer your question

If you want to disable the automatic arrangement (Aero Snap) feature, use these steps:

1. Click Start, Control Panel

2. Click Ease of Access and click Ease of Access Center

what ya want is in there.

EDIT:

3. Click one of the following options:

    * Make the mouse easier to use
    * Make the keyboard easier to use
    * Make it easier to focus on tasks

4. Place a checkmark near the following option:
Prevent windows from being automatically arranged when moved to the edge of the screen

5. Click OK, and close the Ease of Access Center

heh I've been using that feature quite a bit... it comes in handy for me. XD
though I think it helps that I have an HD screen; more room to move the windows?

I have a 23 wide screen full 1080p (that's right motherf***s :funny :D) and despite being max res the windows just seem to open up bigger to begin with. I've not tried shaking them...

heh yeah please right click on the desktop then personalize then click on the button called display on the bottom left then select "smaller 100%"

on HD displays it wants to bump window/text sizes up 25%.
default is "Medium 125%"
