Just having a little fun today. After a few additional details are in place, she'll just need to be mapped, textured and hard-pointed. I can do Texturing, but mapping and hard pointing is out of my league.

 Here's the latest renders.
-
Now that is cool.  Sign me up for the Hardpointing

-
				Polycount?

-
				WOW!

-
Thanks for the praise guys. :]

Wiley: as of this update I'm posting now, the polycount is 16.1k

More detailing done. Not much left to do:
-
				Nifty!

....now what happened with your other ships?  :hide

Beat me to it,'Aeries, he is not to bad'
-
ditto.  I'd beta that in a heartbeat.  I'd  say we have a nominee for the January MotM allready, here!

would that be Baz style or Wiley Style hardpoint?
-
Well I would do it as a GMunoz style hardpoint.

-
That thing looks like the sex. Well done.

 That made me laugh, cookie.
-
Touche, GM...i'm so used to hardpoints for JJ's that way, that's the way I think of em :P

-
Its very nice, but IMO I think the bussard stick out to far

-
				Nice ship Aeries!

-
Thanks 086gf. :] I'll be rebuilding the nacelles and pylons soon since the mesh in those areas is a bit messy. =3

I've detailed the saucer rim a bit; added the sensor trench and docking ports, and four forward torpedo launchers.

While this might be meant as a "JJ-Verse" Bonaventure, would it be possible for an NX-styled texture-set for the Bonaventure as well? Perhaps the "NX Bonaventure" herself.

People love to call the new movie as being in the "JJ-Verse", when in reality the new movie's timeline is the same one that we've already seen during the run of ENT (such as the reference to "Admiral Archer's beagle").

I'm actually thinking more along the lines of the Kelvin as far as Textures...Other than that she looks ACE there Aeries!
-
in some cases jjverse actualy looks good on a ship.

-
@ Darkthunder and Eclipse: I plan to release two texture sets for her, perhaps even three. As follows, my ideas are: JJ-Verse texture set, weathered NX-style hull plating (like a dark greyish-brown) set, and a weathered Terran Empire variant. :]

Starforce 2: Agreed. And thanks, if I interpreted your statement correctly. :P

Since Limey's mega busy with his own work, I'm left without a really good mapper... any experienced mappers willing to take on the challenge?

Technically both the Prime and JJ Universes all connect to ENT.  The timeline didn't split until Nero's incursion in 2233.

As for the Bonaventure she's looking sweet.  I look forward to seeing the three different textures applied.

Technically, it can be argued that the timeline was also split "somewhat" by the presence of the Enterprise-E during First Contact, and the subsequent Borg remains at the north pole (as referenced/seen during ENT's 'Regeneration' episode). ;)

But to remain on topic, I look forward to seeing this bad boy textured, no matter which way is decided. Both Kelvin-style and NX-style would look suitable on her.
-
this is gonna be interesting, cause this needs an epic texture to go with it.  and the guys that do epic textures are swamped...

-
You saying I can't texture, KCS?  :dontcare: :P

-
i dunno, I don't think I have any of your ships, actually.  you sure as hell can model, though!

No one does cause Aeries first ship, the Mithra, has been going back and forth design wise for years now.

I really gotta get back to her someday soon...  :angel
-
you don't even have any textures, yet?  hmm...they can't be any worse than mine :P

Yes.  Yes you should. :dontcare: :funny
-
You got one of more fan!

-
Just to keep things interesting, I'm gonna request two more names (Since there are three texture variants). Of course, there's the NX-style USS Bonaventure NX-402 (is this a decent number ya think?) Now I just need an ISS designation and a normal NCC designation.

Edit: Also, I'm begun editing and mapping her piece by piece... which is really not my strong point at all, but I guess I gotta get some practice in somehow XD
-
Dude your ship is pure awesome!!!!  :yay: great work!!
As far as the name Bonaventure is named after the Catholic Saint Bonaventure. Perhaps the other ships in the class could be named after other famous saints/religious figures? Idk just an idea.....
-
It looks so sleak, so it needs a sleek and sexy name. I move for the USS Amy Pond. :p

-
For a new class of ship, I would think Starfleet would probably have a more even-numbered registry. Something like NX-400: USS Bonaventure.

As for suggestions, i'd say something like:

 NX-400 / NCC-400: USS Bonaventure
 NX-400 / NCC-400: ISS Mussolini (mirror Bonaventure)
NCC-452: USS Leonardo da Vinci / USS Leonardo / USS da Vinci

Not sure what to name the 3rd ship, but I figured Leonardo da Vinci would be a good choice since he has appeared a few times in Star Trek, and fits into keeping the ship names based on famous Italian people. I used the number NCC-452, since da Vinci was born in 1452. I figure Benito Mussolini would be a good choice for a mirror universe Bonaventure, since a dictator would be pretty much completely opposite of sainthood.

Although I suppose in a universe where good people are bad, and bad people can either be good, or worse. Maybe Saint Bonaventure, wasn't really a saint, and Mussolini might've been a good guy :P
-
Famous Italians... So how about Raffaello da Urbino?  USS da Urbino NCC-452.  Actually, wouldn't it be more right to have the registry NCC-0452 since the Kelvin's registry added the zero?  The Kelvin was NCC-0514.

-
Mussolini??!  *laughs*  the only thing that would work right on that ship would be the Chronometers!

nah, name the TE after a Medici...or ISS Machiavelli

 USSes?

 Milano
 Napoli
 Lambroghini or Ferarri  :funny
 Alcyone
 Bondoni
 Petrillo :P
what was the name of the first united italy's king?  that might work.

 or uss assassin/ezio auditore lol
-
Hehe, thanks for the suggestions boys, girls, and those of undetermined gender. I'll take all those names into consideration. :)

Here's a render of the first 10 minutes of texture work. I'm a complete and total NOOB at this crud, so please forgive me for bad quality textures!
-
That's pretty good. Could be a lot worse.  here, have a cookie of motivation.

-
A perfect blend between NX era and Kelvin textures. Keep it going. :)

-
Make the inside part of those textures a bit smaller so it fits within the ring.  It'll be perfect then. ;)

Bad quality textures... are you nucking futz! Those look pretty damn good lol
-
Model looks fantastic mate, not too sure about those outlines on the aztec of the texture, really looking forward to seeing where you go with it

-
haha thanks for all the praise guys. :] I've added another paneling layer, something out of a small hull panel png I put together some time ago and converted to a paint bucket pattern. It kinda works, but the paneling itself is far from completed. I have also added some hull lines with the pen tool and in addition, a starfleet emblem... I kinda like it. :P

-
				Wow! Thats awesome! Cookied!

-
				Nice work man!  :yay:

-
				Thanks. :]

And a little more. Got a specular made (more or less), and added some little details along with the ship's name and registry. Also added light weathering to the hull paneling.

 Pic:
-
It's amazing what a good specular map will do to a model. Before seeing the specular, the texturing looked a bit "dead". Now you made it really come alive (and much closer to the look of the NX-01 style) :)

EDIT: Are you certain about the NX-400 registry? Being that it's close to the Kelvin, maybe NX-0400 ? Or are we going in a more "prime timeline" appearance here?
-
				I like that!  A lot!

-
Cookie dude... this looks real nice.

-
Great work here, Aeries  :) . I love the shape and design of the ship. IMO, the JJ 'style' works much better for the Bonaventure than the original.
As an aside, I saw someone on Sci-fi Meshes doing something simmilar to this; but in all honesty, I like yours more  ;) .
-
				Thanks! :]
I know exactly the project on SFM you're talking about too! :P It's the same one that's actually inspired me to build this, although honestly, I really like the warp nacelles on his model a lot more than my own... nacelles aren't really my strongest point. which reminds me, I gotta rebuild these nacelles soon too... X__x

EDIT: Are you certain about the NX-400 registry? Being that it's close to the Kelvin, maybe NX-0400 ? Or are we going in a more "prime timeline" appearance here?

Yeah I'm gonna keep it. Kelvin aside, it's always been a "Trek thing" not to put zeros at the beginning of a ship's registry. Personally it makes sense to me to keep it a simple 400 instead of a 0400. Of course there's the NX-01 herself as an exception, but I think NX-01 physically LOOKS a lot better than NX-1. Hell, I'd go so far as to say that NX-1 looks rather silly. :P

I may do NCC-0400 though, for the JJEnterprise-style textures, though, for some variety if nothing else.

Edit: Added dorsal (?) cargo bay doors and service lifts. Also added a luminosity map and begun work on the deflector dish and housing.

				ahsum Texturing Aeries

-
				n00b at texturing???  LIAR!!! I can't tell :P

Seriously, I really can't tell!  This is excellent!
-
That looks like it came from the Enterprise-series. TV-grade stuff..  :eek

-
I really like the textures as well as your trek emblem. I also like the location of the registry, but the typeface looks too TMP. Is that what you originally wanted?

The typefaces used for the JJ-Enterprise are Microgramma are the larger fonts and Fear Factor (found for free at Dafont.com) for the nacelles.
Here's some possible alternatives (if you are going to change them):

 http://www.dafont.com/bombardier.font
 http://www.dafont.com/usn-stencil.font

I think the second one is closer to what they used for the Kelvin. It's not quite TOS, but it is a variant. I'm just throwing out my opinion. :)
