As we know at the time, the issues we have with Filefront are stopping people from uploading, downloading, and rating files.
Here is a temporary solution to these issues-
Step one is to create a 4shared site, which has been done.
Step two is to release a news article on BCFiles telling them of releases once a week (I can do so)
Step three is to provide the modders with access to the site, notice that it is completely open, but can only hold 10 gigs of data.
All in favor say aye, and i will release the access to the upload site.

Aye

I should point out that you can still upload and download from BCF, you just can't see pictures and sometimes you get database hiccups.
-
I am already in the process of creating a website (for my mods) for this very reason. You can still upload files to filefront/gamefront, but link them to other places.
-
This would also work, it just depends, no one is downloading from filefront because of the issues.
I have a Webs site, but it needs to be known to the filefront community...
-
alot of the time, when i click on a link to a new file that has just been posted, i get this:
-
jimmy keep refreshing and it will let you download, i get that all the time and refreshing fixes it.
-
But the point is people don't care about refreshing it most of the time, that's why I say we get a site for modders to submit links to their files. The casual DLer does not come to BCC every day.

Indeed its sad how many people just try once and then leave. Its amazing how many people don't even know about the refreash button. All i've got to say is...its not 1995 anymore you already know how all this works.

i wouldnt suggest that's the case... what is amazing that the refresh button would even need to be hit to begin with...

I'd also like to point out that the refresh button doesn't solve the problem a lot of the time - at least for me anyways.

Well as I do not feel like uploading stuff to BCFiles anymore as I feel I have been burned by the lack of screenshots and download errors.
I spent alot of time on the Miranda pack and these problems have ment not many people have bothered with it.
I have 5 or 6 ships ready for scripting but what is the point till they can be hosted properly.
They keep asking us to be patient but this has gone on way to long.
I'm getting to the point where I feel I should just not bother anymore since mine (and SFR&D) work is not being hosted properly.
The more the site screws around the new content then downloaders are going to go elsewhere, modders will quit modding and BC will die.
And that would be a sad day indeed. :(

we could always make BCC the download site (using mediafire links), and then posting a link, it would be easiest for us to do at the moment
-
is mediafire a permanent hosting site tho? also, while i agree with the idea, it would mean alot of people wouldnt be able to find new mods, as alot of bcfiles people dont come here to bcc...
of course a news item could be posted at bcfiles about this, if a decision was made...
-
From what I understand files are stored indefinitely as long as the user who uploaded said files logs in at least once every 60 days. Provided that is accurate I'm all for this idea as well, though it may be wise to see if there's another way to get the word out in addition to a BCFiles news post (I mean the thing is sitting way at the bottom in small print - my own trained eyes don't check there as often as they should).

This is a direct link to a sample DL forum, if we like it then we won't have to use BCC's server and keep it serving it's purpose.
If it is agreed on then I will post news on BCFiles to inform our "DL only" community.
