AndyP WIP thread
« on: April 05, 2014, 12:11:42 AM »
Hello all!

So much has happened since I posted last. I left my job in December to pursue something in a different field, moved, moved again will be moving again in a few weeks to a permanent location... I now live in Chicago, with a new job! Im starting to feel settled into my temporary place, and have begun to feel the itch to start modeling, so this will be an on and off WIP thread till I move to my new place in 3 weeks. Im hoping to have the modeling finished at that point (I wont have my normal computer with adobe products till I move so wont be able to texture until then.)

This ship will be my TiqHud tribute. This among one other that I will eventually get to, was at the top of his wish list from me. I am still in the early stages, so cookie to the first person that guesses correctly.

Well work was relatively dead and boring today, since I had this saved on my google drive, I decided to work on it a bit. I need to work on some smoothing errors on the "ram-scoop" and torpedo launchers.

cookie still offered to the one who guesses what this is first.

Whoa, what a transformation since the last post. It's fantastic!!!!
Love it.

If it is a Nausican Raider I must say, I would be very pleased, we rarely get the other/pirates of the Alpha Quadrant. Can't wait for the rest.

Cookie goes to 3 of 12. I will be working on this ship slowly, I have learned so much since my first ship the envoy, so a few things this time around will come out right, such as the flipped faces error hopefully.

Ill be working on this mainly Saturdays, i need to redo the torpedo tubes.

Very nice. A cool looking ship. Are you still working in Blender?

I am! I feel with the current improvements to the GUI it makes the application a great modeler program.

With this ship I'm also trying a new technique with my modeling, and so far it has been paying off.

I will probably post a few WIP shots from the TNG set map I am making for Source Filmmaker later tonight, have most of the corridors completed.

Ohhhh I love it when people build sets, particularly the TNG stuff. Blender has come such a long way, it's incredible.

I'm fond of Blender myself. I built some ships for the Freespace 2 engine with it. :)

Hey all here is some more work from today. My work computer does not access Flickr, so had to send the image to my phone to upload it, not sure why the image has the weird white boarder...

And for giggles, I mapped out the ortho render from drex files onto the mesh.

Not too shabby. Hell, even with the Drexfiles image applied, it still looks good :)
