Thanks for the link.
This version of the Enterprise is interesting to look at.
I wonder what's everyone else's take on it.

It's certainly different, I'll give them that. It looks like a cross between the Constitution Refit and...well something else. I don't like how the engineering hull has been moved forward though.

I have somewhat mixed feelings...

I honestly really like the new design, including the secondary hull but... it obviously is a "modernized" version of the original.

On one side, that's all fine and good but on the other, J.J. Abrams on many occasions gushed over how he was "really going to appeal to the many trekkers out there and knows the great importance of canon".

Bottom line: I think the new ship rocks but I also feel that the original design could have stayed original in overall design with a lot of details added to make it look as plausibly "real" as possible.

I concur. However, I like the way how the nacelle struts meet the sec hull tho. I'd have to see the ship from all angles in motion to give a final judgment tho.

Almost did.? :( but its like George Costanza.? after your first impression of it, you just keep thinking better and better of it!? :| Now, I just think that I only need to see the ship on screen... :)

lemme look again... :D hehehehe she's kinda awkward.? I just think they took way too much from the TMP version and not enough from the TOS one.? many of the weapons placements are all the same as the TMP.? the torpedo tubes.? the saucer phasers.? of course, the TMP ship had no aft torpedo tubes; I think this one won't either.? can't see any at least.? it would make sense to at least try adding a tube to the connie facing aft, I guess it was never used, and they remove it for the refit.? that's the story of the Constitution Class's three refits.? :arms:

EDIT: This Is MyHUNDREDTH POST!!! YAY.

it's a flippin kitbash. They didn't even bother to match the paint on the saucer with the rest of the thing.
I just realised something. I've released over 300 fully modded ships for bridge commander. Bow to your master :D

Don't see how this is modding at all. Or why a repeat thread is getting so much attention.

It looks ok I guess, like a cross between TMP and TOS.  But I don't care too much for this so *shrugs* whatever floats people's boats

I don't like the neck. It's more in the center of the engineering section.
It would be better if it was more to the front.

Let me put it this way...I have an ideal on what the constitution should look like.  That ship alone in Star Trek 2 was what brought me into the Star Trek world.  It is my all time favorite ship for many reasons.  If this ship were called another name of class, then this baby has a chance with me.  But, in my eyes...it simply does not do the constitution class justice.

I've never been dissappointed in anything trek...until now.  What a thing to say, it's unlike me.  :(

There is something about it that just doesn't look right. Looks too alien for a Starfleet ship.

tbh the pylon placement is a take from the fan bashes...for all we know they saw it on bcfiles :P

this just looks wrong... there is no other way to describe it.
It seems more and more they are doing change for the sake of change and not for any other reason

I mean this to me is almost unreconizable from the enterrpise we knew
The things we saw in the BSG reboot... they could definately be immediately identified with their original counterparts.

James Bond with the movie reboot they have been doing... hes still james flippin bond

This, this is just totaly unrecognizable
I actually showed this to a friend their reaction was simply "WTF"

it has departed too far from what we know. the location of the saucer the shape of the body in general sorta reminds me of the frankenstien fleet kitbashes on DS9 more than a trek ship we know. And while in some cases it does appear that they have tried to capture the spirit or essence of the characters this just does not work at all.

With that said though I will likely give this movie a chance but I honestly am not expecting much from it now.
"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

sucks.
 :(
sorry to disagree with you guys, but this is far more lacking than the TOS design. seems even more ugly than the Ent-J.

looking at this, I'm 100% pledged with Gabe Koerner's connie.
at least, that one kept the proportions and position of the parts.

one of the posters at that site said
Quote
How can something with such sleek smoothness look so much less sexy than a piece of junk like the Millennium Falcon?
and I sort of agree.
I think they abused too much of CGI trying to make it look shiny and new, but it's not enough being like that. you have to be elegant.

this is how it should have looked like, had Abrams thought a little bit more about how it used to look

Altho there are a few traits I like about this ship, the guy who did this design needs to be shot for being aesthetically deaf.
