I can't tell if this thread is being serious anymore...  :idk:

yeah, its pretty serious, but Warp is quite a hard piece of tech to master. Lots of unknowns, lots of calculations... I can actually post them here if you want...

hmmm okay. Not much explaination of the physics, but I see the links there. I still think bending space is rather difficult... I mean, while in warp the ship is actually stationary but space is warping around them

i would sudgest going less for warp cores and warp speeds etc and how about looking into "mass reduction" which is similar to what a warp field does.

then with mass reduction we could achieve faster speeds though not faster than light speed.

To make an object less massive is harder than FTL travel...

Just thought I'd throw a bone in here: I thought it was impossible to achieve light speed because light has no mass, thus any object with mass would only be able to reach speeds close to the speed of light but not the actual speed of light?

Only those whose lives are brief can imagine that love is eternal. You should embrace that remarkable illusion. It may be the greatest gift your race has ever received."

Although light has no mass itself, speed is relative to light. Tachyons for example, have mass but travel faster than light, not able to slow down. Therefore 3x10^8 m/s is actually a barrier of some sort. Its the power that is required that stumps most people.

How about that plasma reactor that they build in France , we should use it

I wouldn't trust anything what the French have built.. mark my wordes, world war III will start from France.

what? No other modern European country suffer from riots and have burning cars in the streets as much as France.. Then again, French cars have gone downhill since 80's so I can understand torching them.. Ah, Peugeot 205 T16, how I lust after thee..

build in France with US an European money just search for ITER on wikipedia , it's supposed to be the most powerful generator

if anyone can get the power output stats from that generator and IF its what we need, then well be able to do this for real...

No you wont be able to, govenment wont let you!
anyways, FTL travel is a simple concept, it is just the moving space that kills everyone, it would require a huge reaction, that is why Star Trek uses a antimatter/matter core

thats just one part, they also need a plasma reactor like that to power the containment field and the injection systems, or one use of the core and the ship would instantaniously explode.

or you could have a magnetic containment field, it would be vary inexpensive, but would be a lil harded

the plasma generator would power the magnetice constrictors and containment field, watch more voyager and listen VERY carefully to it.....

Magnetic Containment Field = Piece of cake
Plasma Generator = >.<
