The Nexus
« on: November 22, 2011, 07:30:00 PM »
Don't know this is already discussed but the Nexus of the the movie Generations just gave me a big mystery.

So the Nexus took up picard and soran but the enterprise d and its crew were killed by the shockwave.

If not mistaken, the Nexus makes everything true that you wishes.. Picard asked to go back to the point (with kirk) so Soran would not destroy the sun.

But is he still in the nexus? Or is it by preventing that the sun explodes that the nexus never takes picard up and Soran up, that he never stood in the nexus? (you are still following me :D)

He left the Nexus entirely (Guinan had a part of her remain because she only existed partially in the Nexus at the time...)

Exactly...

But Picard could have went back before the Enterprise was destroyed and arrested Soran prior to the events at Amargosa.

Damn, but isn't here a possibility that a part of kirk is still there?

Considering the Nexus exists outside of time, maybe. Maybe anyone who has been in the Nexus and then left can be in the Nexus indefinitely, and not at all.

keep in mind that Picard has no idea that the Enterprise has crashed at this point, he left before the battle started, he had no reason to go back any further in time than he did because he didn't know that the Enterprise was in danger.

On the ST: Generations commentary by Brannon Braga and Rom Moore, the nexus was supposed to be a point in space where time meets (past, present, and future)- similar to the series finale of TNG. The plot-device of the nexus was a way to brink Kirk back to "pass the torch" to the TNG cast. The idea about the nexus was was good in theory but wasn't fully thought out and leaves many unanswered questions.
