To be honest Dalek her shape has grown on me a lot. Partly due to Wiley and flying her myself and also due to how she looks on screen.

From certain angles she does look strange but then so does nearly every other starship in the history of Trek, well not including the refit Connie.

Also one wonders what the reaction would have been when the Motion Picture was in production had the internet been around then?

Probably much the same as the reactions going around for this movie.  One of the downfalls of creating something iconic, if you change it slightly, people get angry.  :P

So true, had it been like Transformers which is something that is constanly under going reboots then fans would have been far more open.

I called the Original Series the Holy Grail of Trek and it is in many ways but I have to admire the guts that JJ has taken to touch the Original and say 'think you know Star Trek, guess again!'.

Part of me still thinks that the alternative universe plot is still a lazy way of doing things as such a creative challenge could have been in trying to keep to the original show and timeline but update it for the 00s.

But what's done is done, it's here folks and we'll see for ourselves in under a weeks time if it's going to add to what we know and love or detract from it.

I don't really think of it as "alternate universe".  I think of it as "altered past".  Each one carries different connotations.
JJ's not trying to make a better universe.  He's trying to make a cooler one.  This obviously won't be permanent.  How can they kill Vulcan?

How can they kill Vulcan?

Quite easily. Like you said, it aint permanent

He's trying to make a cooler one.

I wouldn't say that. Yes, its cooler in your opinion but there are some here willing to argue the hell out of it.

I don't think it's temporary.  I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't want a "reset" button at the end of this movie.  If it does, then what's the point of doing more with this cast and crew?  I want this movie to open a new door for the crew of the Enterprise where anything can happen.  Who knows, maybe the Organians won't interfere with the war with the Klingons, or who knows what else?  If this movie changes canon without resorting to the reset switch, then I say bring it on.  Let us wonder if the crew can actually get out of a situation, rather than let us know for sure that they will since they live for another 40 years.

I think their will be a reset button. But just because it resets itself, doesn't mean we cant continue. There will always be a universe about the Voyages of the Starship JJPrise...

Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

Hmmm, doesn't match what was shown with Scotty in that clip or what people have been saying...maybe engineering v2?  :P  That doesn't look too bad though, reminiscent of the TOS engine room.

Looks more like a laboratory.

And I think that clip with Scotty in those tubes is on Delta Vega. I mean, if it was on the Enterprise, wouldn't more people be there?

Scotty in the tubes is probably the Enterprise's water refinery since 23rd century technology doesn't have replicators yet.  The clip I was referring to was the "I'm giving her all she's got captain!" clip.

I think the reset button may happen during the 3rd movie if they do sequels.

If this one flops, then there is no reason to have a reset button.  Most people will just reject it as canon.
If it is successful, then they just can't reset during the first movie.  What would they do for sequels?

Farshot has point, perhaps the end of this movie will have an open ending which will lead into the next film and so on until the final one.

Not really any new images but quite a good interview.
Can't wait for 2014 to start.

Very intelligent.  He didn't BS anything.  I agree with his views.  If I had a chance to do a Trek movie, I would largely follow the guidelines he stated that led to this.

So far all the critics at Rotten Tomatoes have given it positive reviews, even better than First Contact.  I have high hopes for Trek! :D

Urban is a class act, let me say.  I love that they had fun on the set, and now Kirk's "Stop it!" makes a little bit more sense.  :P

Ok, i've lost count now lol. Here's yet another tv spot "Star Trek is Reborn". We see a wide shot of the Narada and the Kelvin against Vulcan's sun aswell as the drilling rig falling into the San Fran bay right next the Golden Gate bridge.

Some interesting stuff in the credits. WARNING SPOILERS You're better off scrolling down past the cast sections till you see the movie for now.

Two of my favorite things became one again this weekend for the second time ever(only time before was FC).

Note that even though the 12 car in the Sprint Cup series is talked about in this article there was also the 12 car in the Nationwide series race the night before with Justin Allgaier(which is in the first pic) which also unfortunately ended up in the fence during that race aswell.
All hail the messiah!

*deep sigh* Whew, they dedicated the movie to Gene and Majel, we don't have to hang JJ.  That is really the classy thing to do there.

Holy crap the Kelvin is tiny compared to the Narada.
