Asylum seems to have this ability to take words straight out of my mouth/mind/keyboard, :) *gives him a cookie* as his thoughts seem to echo my own. I only hope that my attempts at modding BC can give me a foot in the door when I apply for this school I want to attend soon... so that perhaps, one day, my modeling skills will rival DJ's, and all the other greats out there.

Anyways, back on topic, as Dj well knows, I GREATLY admire his work. It's amazing. So DJ, this Galaxy is stunning, and I can't wait to see how things turn out  for Excalibur, too, since last I checked, you were developing this same ship for that game... Also, dude, that tiny little ready room window with picard staring out into space... it's just cute. :P Nice bumper sticker, too.

-Aeries.

Here's a bit of an update.  Like I've said before, the ship is basically going to be going through a round of heavy detailing, and I've begun that process.  The saucer section of the 4ft model has thousands of small panel lines all throughout... that's what I'm working on.  In the pix, you can see I've basically done most of the outer part of the dorsal saucer and the bottom of the cobra head.  Can you say tedious as holy hell?  It's worth it though, I think.  People have mentioned that the ship looks like plastic.  The addition of the panel lines should cure that.  I'm also going to make some of the other hull lines, particularly on the nacelles and pylons, thinner.  They are too thick I think.

I ran a little test, btw, and with specular maps, the little panels make a world of difference.  It is really cool.  I can't wait to show you guys an in-game shot.  hell, I can't wait to see one. lol.

Unfortunately, there are no schematics for this kind of stuff, it's all off screencaps from here on out.  TrekCore.com is my best friend right now.  lol.

Anyhow, on to the pix.

I definitely looks like the Enterprise from Encounter at Farpoint- the original model.  Looking good.

Hmmm it shouldn't look like the Ent-D from Farpoint cause that's not what this model is based off of...  Should look like Season 3 Model.   It'll look much more detailed once DJ renders it with some bumps and the hull won't look as flat as the Season 1 Ent-D

Looks pretty darn $exy there.  It'll be painful to give up on the SNS Galaxy once this beauty is finished, but I'll get over it  :D

Excellent job.

It's a little from column A and a little from column B.

Who said you have to give up the SNS?  Why not have the best of both worlds....no pun intended

DJ, the more I look at this beauty, the more I wish summer were just two months ahead instead of about oh....5

Ya true...I guess I never thought of that.

Sorry, that goes to show just how much modding experience I have.

Still, it looks pretty darn good!

Thanks for the nice comments guys.

and yes, this ship has become a hybrid.

I've spent a couple of hours reducing the size of the lines on the nacelles.  I think they look way better now.  They were almost cartoonish before.

*edit* I've given this same treatment to the entire drive section.  The lines were just too fat.
