By the look of the warp nacelles i was going to say that this ship could be great at exploring nebulas that the normal federation ship cant go into.

Hmm...
Very interesting thought, and just as a hint at what the rebuild will be like... I'll be incorperating some... familiar... components (of my own design, of course)... from a certain familiar explorer-type (cannon) starship. ^_^ *coughnebulacough*

And I'll be developing at least two variants of this ship. And they will all rock yer' socks off! Now if only I could get started... Been going through a lot in life recently, so I might not get this done as quickly as I'd planned. Sorry, folks. Keep the ideas flowing, though, they help me a LOT! ^_^

I agree as well...especially designed to explore those tricky nebulas that will kill your ship if you're in there even just for a few minutes...lol

Your ship design is great....I look forward to see what you have in mind for the variants as well.

I love pesky nebulas. The joy of having the outnumbered but stronger ship, raising shields and forcing smaller ships to retreat as they won't last as long as you can. :D

The Mithra is very interesting. It's something new, I like it. The nacelles I love and they're not sovy variants either which is very common use nowadays. Keep it up!

just ideas man, the models look great, keep up the good work, and if u ever get bored, cut a bit of the model away and perfect it.. works for me  8)

UPDATE!

To be honest, i haven't even begun rebuilding the silly thing. Every time I start, I HATE it, and give up. To be perfectly honest, I just don't feel motivated. In any case, shit in life's pretty much hit the fan, emotionally speaking, and I don't have the energy for modeling anymore. That'll hopefully change soon enough with the introduction of a few other creative outlets.

Instead, though... I've decided to do something better. Something I didn't do for the first model... CONCEPT SKETCHES!! The original Mithra was built entirely from my head; made up as I go, sort of thing. And even though i have the original model  as a reference, I don't really like it. So I want to sketch it out and draw out my ideas, and refine them that way before implementing the designs into the new model. I was also thinking of rebuilding the original model section by section, and slowly replacing the parts one by one until the whole model is completely rebuilt. Because to be honest, starting from scratch with my current mindset... is completely overwhelming.  As I said, shit's hit the fan. :/ So as you may have noticed... progress is a heck of a lot slower than it was at first. :(

I'm trying my best, though. 'Suppose I'm just giving you all a heads-up, before I get posts from people wondering what the heck's happened to the project. So to sum it up, Modeling has been put on hold, and I have *literally* gone to the drawing board. Or, Sketch book, in a more literal sense.

No pics made yet. I'm starting on those either later tonight or in the morning. Wish me luck. I'm always open to ideas, too, as you well know by now.

Mate just take you time, get stuck into the drawings and see if you can get her just the way you like it.

Just a quick update. It's nothing special, just thought I'd show you what I've done with the new model so far... I think it sucks. :/ But we'll see how this goes. At least it's a lot cleaner so far than the original was before. To be honest, though, I haven't put much time into it; I've been having some relationship issues, and my B/F and I broke up today... actually about three minutes ago... so it's taking a LOT for me to hold myself together as I type this. As a result, I'm not going to spend much time on this model today, as I had planned. I need to take time for myself, and stop crying so much. :/ Maybe in a day or two, or three, or whenever, I'll start again. But for now, this is where she's at. I'm terribly sorry I haven't been as committed to this project as I was originally. I hope you understand... if anybody has any ideas on how to proceed, I'll still be checking BCC as constantly as I normally do. This forum cheers me up, sometimes. :)

You've got an interesting start here, Aeries.  What you need to do is add more polygons going around the saucer, and less going up.  What I mean by this is this... Your saucer is very pointy, but pretty flat vertically.  You could have just two segments of polygons going vertically (from the outside of the saucer to the center) and spend the rest making the saucer's rim nice and smooth.

You know what, you're absolutely right! I'll get to that later on today, as I'd imagine I'll need the distraction. ^_^ Thanks a tonn, dude!

No sweat.  Try to focus on building the saucer.  I see that you've already gotten a start on the secondary hull.  Unless you have a solid plan, it's easier to focus on one part at a time, imo.

Just a quick update to the Mithra. I've had to start from scratch on the saucer again, but that's okay! It's turned out better, anyways. I also made a new bridge module, though I'm not sure I like it. the lower hull is coming along, but I'm not sure I like that, either. All these smoothing errors are driving me sloowly mad, and they just won't bugger off no matter what I do! I also need to resize the deflector dish, as it seems hideously massive...After all that's taken care of, I've been considering just stealing the warp nacelles off of the original model. Not the pylons, just the nacelles. I liked those nacelles... I think all they need is some optimizing and polishing off here and there... So yeah. May or may not bring them to this model.

It's also struck me as of recent that this ship bears a lot of resemblance to Dj's Raptor. They're both going to have pods, too, which I also found interesting. So it's like a Luna Raptor... A Luptor! (lol?)

But yes, this is all I've managed to pull together given all the heaps of stress I've been under this past week. Constructive criticism is both welcomed and encouraged. Especially form DJ, since he inspired the darned thing. :P

-Aeries.

**EDIT: I'll be optimizing the saucer sometime soon... not sure how, yet, but I'll be trying to follow DJ's last suggestion. Also, there aren't any phasers or torpedo banks yet. Still not certain how I'll make the phaser banks so they don't appear as block-like lines... :/ Pointers there are VERY welcomed.

I'm liking the rebuilt saucer, and in a way I can see what you mean about the deflector being too big, but there's plenty of time to decide that.  For some ships a big deflector looks best.  Good luck!
