Legionaire class WIP - My first
« on: June 19, 2008, 11:26:19 AM »
So, I've only made 2 models in my life, but they are both pretty good.  I made them for use in XWing Alliance, but I could never figure out OPTing it.

But, since I found this place, I think I'll make my first playable ship here.

Interesting, an Intrepid-esque battle cruiser?

Very interesting. Post-nemesis, is it?

Well, actually it is pre-Prometheus.

It was one of the possible designs for the Prometheus project, however, the Prometheus seperated into 3 battle-ready sections, while the Legionaire class only seperates into 2 disproportionate sizes, with the saucer module having no ventral phasers, and the engineering hull having almost no crew quarters, dispite that it itself is the larger of the two.

Benefits however, is that this design is cheaper, both sections include a bridge, and the saucer module has powerful secondary warp nacelles, faster than the Prometheus.  This allows one section to be manned, and the other can be abandoned.   The saucer has more comfortable accomodations, while the engineering section is more battle tuned, so it depends on the situation.

Love the backstory, and the design. Can't wait to see it start!

Okay, a little status update.  Got the model started yesterday, and now it is up to this point.

wow, you work pretty quick. Try keeping the top bow area of the saucer smooth though. It looks a bit tacky at the moment. Even so, nice work so far. I am impressed.

I have that on purpose.  It's gonna look like the area right in front of the Sovvy bridge.  I'll use boolean cutting to make notches for windows and the mess hall.

Looking beautiful, dude, great work. Cookie from me for it. Shame Lightwave doesn't seem to have a boolean cut function, it'd be damn handy... Looking foward to more!

Wow.  I've neglected this ship.  Well, here's an update.  Haven't touched it in a month.
