Out of curiosity, are you making the model as an editable poly or an editable mesh?

I am really amazed by the huge response to this project, so thank you all very much.

I have now finished the mesh, it stands at 3600 POLYS which is about 7400 triangles or summat, I have spent the best part of today, re doing all the smoothing groups.. and im now only using 3, i also reduced polys where i could doing that.

Im going to start mapping her out, and should have a preview of the textures by this evening.

Again thanks for all your kind comments, and of course the bat of cookies i have recieved.

You build it and I will have a bridge ready for it.

I was thinking about the same :D

Lol that would be great

Out of curiosity, are you making the model as an editable poly or an editable mesh?

I always build as an editable poly..  it comes with experiance to see how the polys will be modified once their are "meshed" for the game.. but its much easier to build using squares than triangles, plus 3ds max turns off certain tools when ur editing as a mesh that i need.

Nice work mate. hey, show up on MSN will yah? lol

Thanks allot dude. ive been on all day jules  ----> akami@hotmail.co.uk

Great work! :D  Ugly ship! :D   Simply beautiful modeling you've done, though.

THANKS coming from you that is a HUGE compliment

Again thank you all.. im now mapping.

Marky i must say u are becoming one of the modding favorites around here. Amazing how great the mesh is with such a low poly count. I bow before your greatness.

Thanks allot guys... such praise can only make me

Im recieving all of questions regarding how i manage to keep the poly count so low, well here is the rule i use, detailed areas such as buzzards and impulse engines, and bridges i will poly for poly make accurate, the hulls and longer plain bits i will keep plain aslong as they fill the shape they need to be, and as always... i will study a model and clean and reduce polys all the time as i go..

I just had a very interesting and informative discussion with adonis, sort of like a "NO MAP IT LIKE THIS!" so im gonna map it like he has suggested, so BC peeps etc can make custom regs etc..

Thanks fellas  :D

Wow, I've always liked the Olympic and we finally have a great model. Thank you so much and great work!

Now I know this is a long way off but I'd like to suggest when HPing to do a standard fleet version as well as a hospital ship version?

Just a question, what is the ship's name going to be? Pasteur, Nobel, or something else? If the latter please make up a registry :D.

Why do I need it? You will see :P.

Very nice mesh there markyd, I'm so glad some finally decided to have a crack at the Olympic Class. It's one of the few ships that is sadly still lacking in BC!! :)

Great work, Keep it up!!.
