I think what Muffin might be doing is a slightly better one? His thread indicates he knew what he was doing.

Damnit Wiley, your stuff gets better each time...

The ship will got done when I have time to work on it.  I don't plan to convert it for Legacy.  Plus, someone has already released a retextured TOS Constutition in the style of Gabe's.

That would be muffin lol.
All hail the messiah!

No, that one wasn't me. And I wouldn't exactly say I "know what I'm doing", just that I have more desire to make it look better. I'm a perfectionist, what can I say.
And not to boost my own work, but I do think it is a better one.

Yours seem to have a few mapping/smoothing issues. But otherwise it looks pretty darn cool. Always wanted to have a Gabe Koerner-variant Constition Class :P

I must be hallucenating. The textures actually look like they're sticking out.

No, no, no, Wiley, you screwed up the top saucer shieldgrid on the Excel again. There isn't  a line that goes on the longitudinal axis, it's offset by 9 degs (Since the Excel has 5 segments per 90degs, so 90/5=18, 18/2=9 if you want a segments middle on the longitudinal axis). The bottom saucer shieldgrid starts out on the longitudinal axis however. You nailed the aztec down this time, but you still made the base duck-egg again instead of satin white tho.

As for the Constealltion nacelles, they're the same as on the Connie only with a part of the aft cut off.

Pretty please, when you get finished with the Gabe design. Have someone convert it to Legacy.
Also, would you be interested in making some model for a Half Life 2 mod?

Here's a little update on the saucer textures.  Here is a plain viewpoint render, and the original textures were not duck egg blue, they were a VERY light gray.  The pic that Adonis was showing- the "gridlines" that he saw were just heavy aztecing, and this went between the actual almost invisible gridlines.  I've added those panels to the texture.  Enjoy! :D

Those are some good ideas.  Plus, it will help add additional detail to the model.  I also just found some alpha-light issues. Thanks. :)

perhaps they should consist of a flat pannel flush with the hull rather than a bank that actualy rasies up. Certainly we can assume some advancement of emitter cells. No point emitters, those would be good for launchers though.
I just realised something. I've released over 300 fully modded ships for bridge commander. Bow to your master :D

Wow.  Yet again, you make me actually like the Enterprise-J.  It looks like a starship rather than abstract art.  :P  Cookie for you!

Why bother arming that ship?  It's mere design makes me want to fall over and die... or turn to stone.

Regardless, you've done marvelous work her Wiley, once again, reaffirming my belief that you're the best of this generation's BC ship builders.  Only someone as good as you could take that overgrown 1st year intern's hang over handed in late garbage scow and actually make it look like someone cared.

Good job, and keep it up. :D

DJ it's strange you say that about the Enterprise J because when I look at your brilliant designs I can see the evolution of Federation starships marching towards designs like the Enterprise J although I do wish they'd spent some more time thinking about the design as it would have been nice to see a step towards the Wells-class.

Great work Wiley! :D

Much better. Now if you would only fix up the circular segment's lines closest to the blue/yellow "collar" to match the rest and the base color to satin white, she'd be as she should be.
